Hey guys, it's Dani, and today I am showing you how to make warm turmeric milk, also known
as golden milk.
It is a super warm, comforting, nourishing drink that would be a great alternative to
your morning coffee, or do what I like to do, make it in the evening as a way to relax
and ease out of the day.
Now this recipe makes enough for two people, so what you want to do is grab a small sauce
pan, and into that we're adding one teaspoon of fresh ground turmeric, which is a powerful
antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
I'm just simply going to peel the skin off the turmeric and then grate it on a microplane.
Next I've got a quarter teaspoon of fresh ground ginger, which I prepped the same exact
way.
A tiny pinch of black pepper, which helps with the absorption of turmeric.
One teaspoon of ground cinnamon, which helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, and it's
warm and delicious.
A tablespoon of honey, a natural sweetener.
One teaspoon of coconut oil, again the healthy fats in the coconut oil help the body to absorb
the benefits of the turmeric, because turmeric is fat soluble.
And then finally, two cups of milk.
Now traditionally, this drink is made with full-fat dairy milk.
If you're going to do that, I recommend a grass-fed organic milk, or you could do an
almond milk or a coconut milk, depending on your dietary preferences.
They all work.
I'm going to bring this over to the stove and heat it over a low flame, just until I
have a light simmer, whisking it all the while until all of the ingredients are incorporated
and my milk is heated through and turns this beautiful golden color.
Mmm, that is so warm, comforting.
It's this very warming spice flavor, not spicy, earthy and delicious.
This drink would be ideal if you felt a little cold wiggling in, and it does a heck of a
job curbing a sweet tooth as well.
