Hi everyone! welcome to my channel. Don't forget to subscribe!
Today I fixed up the shed roof, fitted some insulation to the inside and cleared it out! Hope you enjoy and it inspires you to sort your sheds out ready for the winter! xx
Morning guys, welcome back to another allotment diary. My name is Emma, this is my first allotment
plot. I'd love for you to subscribe to my channel, just hit the subscribe button down below.
We can wait, it's fine. I'm just kidding, but I'd love for you to subscribe to my channel,
leave a comment, follow me on Instagram, I'm at emmasallotmentdiaries everywhere. I'm on Facebook,
I'm on Instagram, I'm here, I'm all over the place. I'm on Twitter as well but I never use it,
but I am on Twitter. Anyway, I have got to sort out the shed today. I can't even talk,
sort out this shed I was going to say. Yeah, I really need to sort it out because it's just
got to the point where I can't even get in it. I don't know where anything is, so that's just,
when you get to that point, you know, you've got to do something about it. I've got dahlias on the
floor, bulbs that need mud taken off, I've got beans that need their bean seed things taken out.
Anyway, it's just a nightmare and I'm going to do the insulation. I did ask you guys where this
insulation should go and the winner of all the polls I did on Instagram and everywhere was
ceiling because heat rises. So I kind of tend to agree with you, I mean that's what I was thinking,
but I was thinking is that very GCSE science, but it makes sense to me, so I'm going to do it. I'm
going to put it on the ceiling and hopefully insulate the crap out of this shed. Maybe I
have some more after the ceiling. I don't know how much I've got. It's a bit windy today. Oh,
shit, door, door. Yeah, it's a bit windy today, but it is a lovely, lovely day. It's very mild
today, so I'm going to be able to do some stuff out there too. Yeah, and hopefully get stuff done,
guys, get stuff done. So I really need to sort out the shed, so that's going to be my job today.
Another boring job, but another very important job to do because if you don't do it, you ain't
got a shed for the winter, and you need a shed for the winter because where else are you going
to pee? It's true. It's true. Don't judge me. It's true. I know you do it too. All right,
we've got blue skies today. I just showed you the blue sky for no reason, but yeah,
so what I'm going to do is I'm going to take everything out.
All right, that's all the stuff that's causing me issues in the shed and stopping me from getting
around stuff. So that's the stuff I've got to try and put back in more strategically.
I've just been pulling it out. Right, so now in here, it looks a little bit clearer.
It's a day of bugs and all that crap down there. But yeah, I can sort this out and then I'll do
the insulation. That's the plan. It's good to do this just to know where things are for next year
as well and to know what I've got already and what I need to get. So I put all my bottles and stuff
here. That's very important. I should have a first aid kit really, especially me.
This little creature has infiltrated my fortress. Bloody wood lice. Brilliant. That's not the start
of a wood lice nest or something. I'm wondering if I should send a message to the others by
removing his body and hanging his head outside, but I won't do that because I like nature now.
I've got to stop having a constant war with nature, I think. Nature is on my side. That
wood lice is not against me. I want to kill him so bad, but I'm not getting it. It's just cruel.
But I want it so bad. Right, I'm going to insulate the roof now. That's what I'm going to do. I don't
know how I'm going to film this, but I'm going to insulate the roof. All right, for those looking
for a tutorial, it's a simple, yeah, it's a simple cut staple to the roof job. Very simple,
not much maths going on, no measuring, nothing like that. It's something you can definitely
try yourself. I'm basically going to cut it, whack it on, staple gun it. If I had the green bit
showing or the silver bit showing, I'm worried that the silver bit might look a bit like a spaceship.
I might have the green bit showing. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, it says that when you lay it
under a floor, the green bit is the bit that's showing and the silver bit's down. So I'm going
to put the silver bit on the roof and the green bit, you'll see. Anyway, that's about as technical
as we're going to get with this job, guys. She's still quite tall. It's not like what I thought
I don't know if this is going to do anything. I mean, if it does keep it warmer, it's genius,
but I doubt it will. It's not what I thought it would be. And also,
there's a beam in the middle that I didn't think about. Really, I should cut it around the beam,
but I can't be arsed. So I just have to deal with it as it is. I don't know what to bleed and do.
All right. Okay, I've got some left. I've got about this much left.
Quite a lot, actually. Quite a lot. So somebody said about insulating the walls,
but to not do the south wall. So every wall but the south wall. So I'm going to get my compass up.
Where's my bloody compass gone? Oh, there it is. Oh, for Christ's sake, I don't know.
It's not doing the compass thing. My bleeding app's not working, so I've got to think about
the sun and shit. It rises over there. It sets over there. It rises in the east. That's east.
That's west. That's north. This is north. That way's north. So if I do this wall,
no, maybe that back wall. Okay. Right. Yeah. Okay. Right. Yeah. Right. I've actually got
quite a lot left, so I'm going to whack the rest sort of around the bottom half of the walls
of the shed. Why not? See how it goes. I don't know if it's going to keep the shed warm. I'm
not looking for it to be like the warmest shed in the world. I just want a little bit of shelter.
Right. Here it is. So I've gone for, see if I can get a view of it, the ceiling,
which is what most of you said would be the best course of action because heat rises. So that's all
boarded up now. It's all got insulation on it now. And then I've gone around the lower
half of the wall and also under here as well, which looks a little bit neater under there
because I've actually cut it, which I should have done everywhere else. But hey, there we go.
I can always come back and do that another day. But yeah, so I'm just hoping it keeps out some
of the wind. I'm not saying that it's going to actually insulate the shed and create a
habitable environment, but I'm just hoping it keeps out some of the wind and it just
helps a little bit because it would just be nice to have it a little bit warmer for the summer.
I know it looks awful, but maybe I'll get used to it. I don't know. I just think this is more
important than prettiness. And that makes me feel quite proud because I feel like I'm really growing
up now and I'm really learning that actually it's not all about how it looks. It's about how
practical it is and how much it works for you. And this is practical. And I quite like the green.
I don't mind it. I mean, this up here looks a bit like a spaceship, you know, like I've tried to
launch my shed into space or something, but you know, it's all right. It does the job.
Nothing a staple gun can't fix.
Right. That's the roof temporarily fixed. I hope you enjoyed this vlog today. I know
it's been a little bit, I've just been doing the shed, but it's such an important job to do
because obviously you rely on your shed like totally and completely for everything. So it
is worth doing. Yeah. And I'm glad that I spent the day just sorting it out really. So I'll see
you next time, guys. I hope you enjoyed the vlog and take care. Don't forget to subscribe.
See you later. Bye.
