After discovering the best pizza ever in Hell (an awesome pizza chain) we roam around the charming beach town of Nelson New Zealand then roll to the Abel Tasman wilderness area for a breathtaking hike. Winter hits us full force in Hokitika New Zealand and we have to do some shopping for wool clothes to keep us alive through the remainder of our trip. We get stranded in a winter storm but finally get to see some gorgeous glaciers before we snuggle up for the night in wild and wonderful Haast New Zealand. The next day finds us continuing our journey south through the beautiful south island of New Zealand stopping for hikes through forests and wading into a river of glacier water. We finally get to historic Arrowtown New Zealand for the best falafel ever before settling in to gorgeous Queenstown for a few days. Just like that we are on the South Island of New Zealand. It was an awesome ferry ride over.
Now we're driving to Nelson. So we'll see what happens.
Hi. I bet she'll be asleep as long as she's not asleep we're fine. Well and an interesting fact
Nelson is only 38 miles away but it takes two hours to get there. I wonder if it's a little crooked.
In Nelson we found this cool pizza shop called
Hell. Pizzas are supposed to be definitely good. Gluten-free extra hot yumminess.
We are just really impressed with the town of Nelson. I'd never heard of it before.
I should have done a little bit of research. Beautiful little beach town, great shopping area,
awesome places to eat. Right next to the Abel Tasman National Park where we'll be hiking at
tomorrow. Love this place. Definitely gets a thumbs up. We are driving over to the Abel Tasman
National Park and just stopped up at the Nagara Caves. Look out. We are at the Pohara Beach Reserve
in the Abel Tasman Wilderness Area. It's so gorgeous here. Well so far Abel Tasman is not
disappointed. Beautiful. You should see these thingamajiggy birds. We'll teach her English one
day. Oh they're gone. Of course. That's because I talked about them. Tally ho.
That's the trail we were supposed to come down which was like kind of short and easy.
Instead we came down the goat trail track because that one's closed out.
And here we are. That is worth the walk. Watch your step. Hey we made it. What do you think about
the hike? Oh it's good. That was good. That was good. I'm gonna be a little sore. That hike was no joke.
It was gorgeous. We had stuff like this and then also death-defying drop-offs.
We are in the sunny beach town of Hokitika, New Zealand.
So uh we were living all the hobbit there for a while in the shire and now we're more
game of thrones because winter is here. But uh we found the best place in Hokitika to eat.
Amazing breakfasts and they got awesome music. And then for dinner you got stompers right there
on the corner. It's finally gotten to the point where this one needs socks. A full one. Go to the
the outdoor store to buy a little bit warmer stuff for the next 10 days.
Where better to go when it's freezing than the wool shed.
Everything you need to warm the cockles of your heart.
Well the beautiful beach town of Hokitika is uh a little rough today. It's still pretty. I'm not
getting in that water. We're heading to a glacier. So that's a lot of snow and that's the way we're
Just out here in the middle of the woods and saw this. Yikes. Short break in the wind gusts. We are
stuck in a winter storm. The gusts of wind have been breaking trees off all over the road. Big
trees. And so they're cutting trees out of the way but more trees are falling. This is the only
road down south to where we're going. So we are stuck. More later. What do y'all think about being
stuck? I got a book and I got warm. Working on music. They seem really traumatized. Fast forward
three hours and here we sit. We might not be going anywhere ever again. Yay!
Wow check out the Franz Josef glacier right up there behind us.
The wind storm is kicking. We got a little reprieve. The sun came out. It's gorgeous.
It's cold. What do you guys think about this country? It's so beautiful. I forgot to turn
off the car. Of course we got to the World Heritage Hotel in Haast. It's a rainbow.
Our journey southwards on the South Island is continuing. We're just outside of Haast now.
Some of the best stuff we've gotten to do in New Zealand is just stopping at beautiful
little walks right along the roadway that head off into these gorgeous mountains.
It's sunny but it ain't warm. That is true. It is cold. I'm not putting anything else in there.
That is Rockabilly Falls.
Look at those palm trees. Bam!
We're in the gorgeous little alpine village of Arrowtown just outside of Queenstown.
This place looks cool. It's beautiful.
And that is us done in historic Arrowtown. It's nestled right in by all the mountains and
it's really cute. Best falafel I ever had was in Arrowtown. Great falafel right over there at the
postman. This is the view from our lobby for the next three days. We're uh we're thinking we did
all right for view. This place just gets better. We got a free upgrade to a giant room. Look at
this view. We said they gave us a free room upgrade. They've upgraded us to an apartment.
How awesome is this? And it includes breakfast and a hot tub. And that view out the window
to go with that epic view off the balcony.
Click the thumbs up and subscribe. No doubt it was good.
