Consistently listed as one of the worlds great train journey's, The Ghan by Australia's Great Southern Rail is billed as vintage luxury hailing back to the early times of travel by rail. This all inclusive expedition begins on the north coast of Australia in Darwin and winds its way 3000 kilometers through the outback all the way to Adelaide on Australia's southern coast. The train makes periodic stops along to way ensure guests are offered as much of the "Outback Experience" as the want. Unfortunately during our journey they cancelled the tours we planned in the north due to high water (understandable) and in the middle due to "Brush Fires" though we didn't pass through a wisp of smoke and there were not currently fires in the area...AAAAAAnyways....We still got to get out and about a little bit for a once-in-a-lifetime experience we'll never forget.

It is time for our big splurge trip on the Great Southern Rail.
Can't wait. It's going to be fun.
This is our Valentine's Day treat. A cross-continental trip on the Gann.
Darwin to Adelaide.
The train is cool.
We have an on-swing bathroom, which is really awesome.
All sorts of little luxury stuff.
Get a shower. Have a cute blonde in there.
Everything's included on the Gann. I'll get you free coffee.
Hi, I'm Claire. I'm Kate.
We just got to Catherine. This is Heather and Graham.
And that's Heather Thomas.
20% goes straight back to the Gann people.
And sunrise over the outback.
Alice Springs. That's all I know.
And there's Graham and Heather.
Welcome to Alice Springs.
It's a smack dab in the middle of the outback.
Alice Springs.
Believe it or not, we are standing in the middle of a river.
Apparently the river is running underneath the ground.
When it rains a lot, it'll raise up.
But I think the last time they said that happened was 13 months ago.
Central Australia. Pretty awesome.
School of the Air is a distance learning program for kids in the outback.
Charles and Diana and Queen Elizabeth both visited and left their signed pictures.
Cool.
This is our tour guide, Tony.
Who wrangles camels and crocs and all sorts of crazy stuff.
So camels. I've got two camels.
But my next job is I'm going to head up to the Kimberleys and wrestle some wild crocs.
I hope you enjoy your holiday.
So for a little perspective on how long this train is,
it's supposedly the longest passenger train in the world.
Way down around the corner.
Time for a nap.
The Pink River is one of the oldest rivers in the world.
Dinner has been wonderful.
Duck salad.
And an outback store.
And a cute lawn.
Junio is dessert.
Kangaroo.
Crocs.
Yeah, the name is Junio.
So we hopped off right near Kimberley Beach.
Just a clutch.
You can see the Milky Way clearly.
This is the Pinamaya Curve.
Our Gann review.
It was a neat train, but way, way overpriced.
It said it was a five star.
I would say it was more like a three star.
The people were really nice, but it definitely was not what they advertised.
Cool trip. So glad we got to cut across Australia.
That was awesome.
Yeah.
It was about five times the price that it should have been for the value received.
The meals, a couple of them were amazing and a couple of them were absolute rubbish.
Yes.
All the staff was really nice and helpful.
Oh, the staff was amazing.
All the issues that we noted were management issues.
So now we are in Adelaide.
Click the thumbs up and subscribe.
Oh, now that was good.
