This trip to Bonaire was incredible and way too short. Bonaire was by far our favorite island in the southern Caribbean. The undeveloped charm, friendly locals and crystal clear waters teaming with life are irresistible. We stopped on a Bonaire for a day during a cruise on Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas and both agreed we will be back to this Caribbean paradise. The people of Bonaire were welcoming and genuinely friendly at every step and the "sell at all costs" attitude present in many cruise ports was not present in Bonaire. As soon as we got off the ship, we stopped by what we thought was a timeshare stand for a map but it was actually just a service provided by Bonaire to give information and maps without trying to sell us anything. Amazing! Using the information from the stand, we walked to a free beach to snorkel and swim in some of the most crystalline water we've ever seen. The sea life in Bonaire is second to none with such a wide variety of species right close to the shore, it's clear that Bonaire's aquatic conservation and preservation efforts have paid off. Don't miss this incredible little slice of heaven nestled in the southern Caribbean.

I feel good!
Buenos dias, guten morgen, and hello! We are in Bonaire. This is the last of the ABC islands
we're going to. It's the B in ABCs. This island is supposed to be an international model for marine
conservation. So we are definitely going to get in the water today. We're going to go wander around
a bit. Not a whole lot of shopping here, thankfully. They focus more on conservation.
We're not going to be diving.
No, we decided to hold off for the next trip and just go check out the island a little bit. So
that's kind of our loose plan for the day. I don't know, you have anything for the day?
I'm hoping to see some animals. Go figure, Kate's hoping to see some animals.
We'll probably see some undersea ones. As long as there's animals.
Anyways, that is it for now. We're gonna head off to this beautiful island you see back here behind us.
So the little free tourist place here, the hands-out maps and such, everybody getting
off the boat, it was awesome. They didn't even try to sell us a timeshare or anything.
They're just giving us a free map of the island and some information. There's a nice place up
here supposedly we can snorkel for free, so we're going to wander up there and see how that is.
Oh yeah, and we stopped and got some free gifts. Go figure.
We could take a taxi, but why? Kind of liking the island vibe of this place a lot more than the last
two. Feels more like what we're used to. Really laid back, super friendly people. Doing scuba
classes on the shore. My kind of place.
This is Eden Beach, down at the Eden Beach Resort.
There's a free water taxi over to Klein Bonaire, Little Bonaire,
which looks like it's just filling up. Do you want to grab the water taxi? No.
Just snorkeling out to it. This place is pretty awesome.
I've never seen so many different species of fish so close to shore. It's incredible.
Oh yeah, I almost got ran over by a water taxi.
A little more careful.
Holy cow. This place is just gorgeous. The water's amazing. The beach is amazing.
Yeah, it's on our list to come back to. Yeah, I think we'll definitely be back here. I don't know
if you can hear this from the wind, but wow. And this is just one little park.
Why are you grinning? What were you doing over there? Just checking the weather.
Ah, fair enough. Kate would never lie. Now you might have a fence, but in Bonaire,
they have a cactus fence. Is that like a pineapple pen? Oh good lord, don't start
with that again. Pen pineapple, apple pen. I'm walking again. I have a fence, I have a cactus,
cactus fence. Apparently Kate does not find the humor. I don't understand it.
Now we're trying to find some food. Ideally some street food, but we shall see.
Every place here takes American dollars. It's US dollars is the currency, so
makes it easy for those of you who live in the US. A little less easy for those of us that don't
live in the US, but it still works. Oh there you go. 20 years here already. 20 years, my goodness.
Suriname, oh that's not very far. In Suriname they have different languages,
and they have different radio stations, and everybody listens.
Even all the country music, we know that.
So we have found a country western singer and guitar player from Suriname
right here in Wilhelminaplein, and this food looks wonderful.
Oh they weren't kidding, that's hot. That's good. That's pretty good. Edward, nice to meet you.
You better stay well away from that hot sauce. That hot sauce is awesome.
It's like pouring lava in your mouth.
The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky, are also on the faces of people going by.
I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do? They're really saying I love you.
What a wonderful world.
On this occasion, so Kate has found Bonaire or not. There he is. That's the Katie Rady system.
No iguanas, no lovey. I'm gonna feel really bad if he gets run over by a car while we're recording
him here. They're so much different than the iguanas on Isla. Yeah. The difference the iguanas
are on all three of these islands than on Isla Mujeres, the legs are longer and they stand up
off the ground when they run. It seems like they are required to be a lot more agile here.
The ones on Isla, they can move when they need to, but for the most part they just kind of lumber
around. Interesting about iguanas, they taste good. Iguana lover. All righty, we're gonna head back to
the ship.
