Well basically one broke off and the other's got all bent.
Morning everyone, welcome back to my allotment diaries again.
If you're new around here, my name is Emma. Please subscribe to my channel.
I would love for you to be a part of my magical, magical allotment diaries.
I've got my husband and the kids here today and Dave is trying to put in the fence around the pond.
Good job Dave. He's using a stick because none of my tools work.
You alright there Tom? That's doing alright.
There's still no wildlife in here guys. No wildlife in the wildlife pond.
Except that fly that's just literally landed in there and killed itself.
Told you it's a bit of a suicide pond Dave.
Those there, they're poppies. Don't dig them out.
If anything's growing in a little cluster or a lump like that, it's probably something I've planted.
Okay?
If it's just like random, like that, that there, I haven't planted that.
But those, that's a cluster. Okay?
That's how you know.
I am slightly concerned about the dahlias. I don't think they're going to come up.
I've got a feeling these dahlias are, I'll put them in too soon.
I just don't think they're going to grow. I'm worried about them.
Mind you, they do feel like they've rooted.
They do feel like they've rooted actually. I don't know.
And none of the summer bulbs are coming up. I don't know when they're supposed to come up.
But this bed is just dead at the moment. Utterly dead.
I don't know if maybe I've buried them too deep. I don't know.
It's so annoying.
I just want to dig under the ground and see what's going on under there.
But you can't do that, can you? You can't do that.
That's going well, okay.
How are the peas?
Yeah, they're doing alright. I'm quite happy with those peas.
Look at all those leaves coming up.
I think it's gold.
Blimey. Oh, foxy's been in it.
Oh, bloody fox.
Round this way, Emma, like this.
Huh? Like that?
Yes.
Just don't forget that anything that's growing in a cluster, leave it alone.
Thank you.
Good listening, Dave.
Oh, fox has been in it.
It's not clear what he's been doing.
That's not poo, is it?
It's not clear.
I told you.
There he is.
We found him, guys.
We found him at last.
This is the...
Don't say hello to him. Don't encourage him.
Yeah, we are talking about you.
That's not the same fox. That's a cub.
That's the root of all my problems.
I believe that is the fox.
I think that's his cub, though.
I don't think that's the actual fox.
It's not the original fox.
It's an offspring of the original fox,
which makes him even more of an arsehole because he's an entitled fox.
He believes this is his property.
He's been brought up here to feel like it's his property.
Bloody fox.
I'm going to weed some of the beds
because quite a few weeds are coming up now.
The sun's been out for a bit.
A lot of allotment holders have given me advice
and told me that I should weed as soon as possible
to keep on top of it.
You can see here just the sheer amount of weeds
that are just coming up.
I think that's going to be one of my main jobs
for the next few months, really.
Right, Dave and Tommy have gone home now
because Tommy was getting bored.
He's only been here for ten minutes, but that's fine.
So it's just Alice and I here now.
He's put the fence in for me, which is really good.
I think it looks great.
Down there like that.
It should stop the kids from trampling over the seeds
and also just give it a little bit of a containment.
You know what I mean?
There's going to be living frogs in there.
I kind of want them to be contained.
It's really noisy here today, isn't it, Ali?
Yeah, I think it's summer.
Whenever you get a nice day, everyone gets lawnmowers out.
That's what they do.
Frogs will be contained within the containment facility,
which we have.
It's like a frog isolation pit.
That's the theory, anyway.
I think basically I'm just going to do a bit of weeding.
I'm just going to chill out today, to be honest.
What do you think, Ali?
It's a really nice day.
I think we should just chill for a little bit.
It's so pretty here with this tree, which has now come into bloom
and all the blossoms have come out.
It's just beautiful.
I'm getting a lot of these weeds at the plot,
and I think they might be that bindweed stuff
or cooch grass or whatever it is.
I'm just finding it everywhere now.
At least I can see where it is, though.
I guess.
Bloody hell, I can't weed it now
because I've got this bloody thing over it to stop foxy.
I don't know how I'm supposed to get these weeds and stuff out.
For God's sakes.
I've got to weed it because look, that's not supposed to be there.
I can't bloody get into it.
Bloody fox.
Just skulking around like he owns the bloody place.
He doesn't even pay rent.
I thought I'd just do a little task today.
This here is really bumpy and uneven,
and it's really annoying to walk through,
so I'm just going to dig it up and try and even it out a little bit
and flatten it.
Flattening paths is not one of my favourite jobs at the plot.
It's complicated, it's boring.
You have to do it about 5 million times,
and then it goes bumpy again,
but I'm going to give it a go because that's what I'm going to do.
Oh, I keep missing a knife.
Oh, look, she's hitting it.
I don't think that's going to do anything, Callis.
Right, here we go.
I've just levelled the ground really
so that when you walk over it, you don't trip over.
So that's done, that's looking good.
If you're wondering what's under this bucket here,
basically there's another horrible, what are they called,
prickle bush, bramble thing,
and I can't dig it up without digging up the pond,
so I have to put this bucket over it
and hope that with no light it kind of dimes.
Bee, what are you doing down there?
God, I hope he doesn't die in my pond.
Please don't die in my pond.
All right?
There's loads of rocks in there now.
OK, sit on a rock.
Dave said if he didn't know this was my plot,
he'd think that Hobo has been sleeping in here
because it is a bit messy.
I'm not very good at keeping my shed clean, it seems.
I'll talk to you down here because I'm knackered.
I need to sit in the shade for a bit.
We're going to do that so good together.
I don't know if you can hear,
but I've come here today for a bit of relaxing time,
peace and quiet,
and so many people are just using power tools and stuff
and electric petrol motor stuff, I suppose.
That's what you'll call it.
I hope they can hear me now.
But yeah, it just made me think.
I tackled pretty much the whole of my plot on my own
with a pair of rusty shears and a load of tools that don't work,
and I sort of got the job done.
And it's just quite funny that as soon as spring comes around,
everyone is just out with the power tools straight away.
There's a bee in here.
Brilliant.
That's just great.
That's a wasp.
It's all right, he can die.
Yeah, it's just quite interesting the way that everyone
immediately kind of goes to the big old power tools.
And I sort of made do with just a rusty pair of shears
and some...
I kind of want to be like a martyr or anything
because I know it's probably easier to do it with a power tool,
and I'm sure you've probably got power tools if you're watching this as well
and you've got an allotment plot.
But yeah, it just goes to show you don't need to spend a lot of money
to be able to get a plot into a position like this
and to do some really good gardening.
So I hope that kind of inspires you.
I hope he doesn't sting me as well.
Bloody thing.
So I hope you enjoyed watching this vlog.
