In lane four this is Ben Johnson of Canada, Great Britain and Carl Lewis he has had an
interesting couple of weeks. Marty heading into these Olympics, he's put a lot of pressure on
himself. His talent and what he said he would like to accomplish. Photo, photo, finish and Ron Brown
just managed to get in so you have to run a great race and be 100% healthy to see a U.S. sweep.
Lewis on the outside wins the goal. Pressure put on him in the center of the track
and by Ron Brown in lane one they were out quick. Carl managed to keep his cool.
It's perhaps too much to expect the goal the way Bolden and Fredericks have been traveling.
He's got the world champion Donovan Bailey to contend with but he is of course the reigning
champion. The 100 meters Olympic final. Bolden to leave the arena and the champion walks away
without being able to defend the title. Two false starts. Olympic final.
They're starting to get away. Double world champion.
And a contrast with that. Green knows what he's going through right now.
Carrying the burden of fate. Settle again. Almost set. Away. Green good start. Bolden got a terrific
start out wide. Green accelerates. Behind him Chambers and then Thompson. Green and Bolden
it's not going to be much in it. Green's got him now and moves away and runs 9.88. Confirms his
greatness like Marion Jones with a brilliant win.
So
to the final is a fastest loser who slipped up in the semi-final. The champion the second fastest
all-time. Look to have more in the tank. Justin Gatlin.
Oh they're away and Gatlin got away brilliantly indeed. He's ahead of the field at the moment and
Bolt going very near. Here comes Peters. Would be a feat never to be repeated. Certainly not in
lifetimes. And now he stands on the verge of what would probably be his greatest moment. Athens
was outstanding. He will probably rate this 12 years down the track even greater.
