What's going on? Adele Beckham Jr. here.
Just wanted to welcome y'all to The Eleven Online.
Today I'm going to be taking you through three easy drills
that can help you through the offseason to improve your skills and your craft.
First drill I'm going to be taking you through is the catching drill.
I'm usually going to do this before practice just to get my hands ready.
Just a simple hundred catches.
Get a friend, coach, brother, jug machine, whatever you have.
Ten here, ten here, ten here, ten.
Just finding ways to open up your range for catching.
First one we just straight on.
Turn one side.
Turn the other side.
Get your ten in.
And you want to come, you kind of turn your back so you're catching them over the shoulder.
On first down, Mayfield down the middle.
Beckham has it for the touchdown.
Ten the other side.
Then you just find whatever, you know, turn your body this way.
Work on catching some back shoulder.
Just open up the shoulders.
Boom.
Just to get your hands warm.
Make it easy for any balls that come your way for the rest of the day.
It's not super complicated.
You know, sometimes the most basic things are the hardest things.
Catching is all about repetition.
So just finding ways to get it in.
Second drill I'm going to walk you through is a drill that I usually do during warm-up.
The line drill.
It helps me out with the double move.
It starts to create the angles and really just open up your hips.
Really get you loose and ready to make certain movements that you're going to make in a game.
Well, you see Beckham goes down and that's the angle toward the corner.
Really just a great throw catch.
You just find a line.
If you don't have a line, make one.
You're just finding a line.
Boom, boom.
Keeping it simple.
And you're just working on dropping your hips.
Working on shifting your weight back and forth.
Working on your double move.
I kind of just go for a feel, you know, 20 yards, 15 yards.
Whatever works for you.
Loosen you up before the game.
Last drill I'm going to walk you through is the tennis ball drill.
It's just a competition drill.
Grab your coach, friend, brother.
Just to get the competitive juices flowing.
Work on your lateral movement.
Sticking, getting in and out of cuts.
So what I'm going to do is set up the drill.
Now, you want to make sure you have enough space where the cones,
shoes or whatever you have to set as a marker is four to five yards apart.
Now, make sure you have two tennis balls, all right?
What you want to do is make sure you're not trying to make it too hard.
I want to make it easy for him to think he's going to win.
So what I'm going to do is make sure I get the ball nice and easy.
Nice underhand throws before I start going into some, you know, behind the backs.
I like to use a clock method.
So I try to put it 12 o'clock, one o'clock, six o'clock, nine o'clock.
Just give him a lot of different areas where he can open up his range of motion.
Let's go through it at full speed and watch and learn.
It's all in the shoulders.
Don't let the shoulders mess you up.
This is my drill.
I win this drill.
The best part about this drill is it really helps with your anticipation
as far as being able to get to where you need to.
Focus on catching the ball first.
Get out of that cut because you know you got something else you got to do.
Now, when it starts getting real spicy,
that's when you start adding the double moves, getting really low.
Let's do one more for you guys.
I like that one.
There's so many different elements that get put into this,
but once you get it together and you work together with somebody,
it becomes a masterpiece.
Hopefully you keep sharpening your skills, perfecting your craft.
I'll see y'all soon.
