David Spent $300,000
90 Day Fiance is one of the TLC reality series that fans get really invested in, and viewers have been curious about the amount of cash that David Murphey has spent on Lana. According to Cheat Sheet, David Murphey has spent more than $100,000 on Lana, which is definitely a lot of money. People have guessed that because his job title is SR Systems Programmer; that could mean that he makes $112,000 a year.
It turns out that David has spent $300,000 on Lana.
According to Cinemablend, David said, "I mean, to be honest, it's probably a quarter million to $300,000 or so."
David also shared that he has spent money on Lana for various holidays and birthdays.
David said, "Over the course of eight years, I've given her maybe $3,000 to $4,000 in total for gifts -- for birthdays, Christmas, Women's Day, and Valentine's Day. It adds up to less than $500 per year!"
He continued that this is just the way it goes in a relationship and that buying presents are necessary: "If I'm going to have a relationship and have a girl interested in me for that long, you're going to have to give something! You're not going to have a girl if you haven't given her a birthday present or a Christmas present."
This 90 Day Fiance couple has a much different backstory than the other pairs on the series. David and Lana started chatting on a dating site and they were actually in touch for seven whole years prior to their time on 90 Day Fiance. According to TV Shows Ace, people were curious if Lana was just talking to David for the money. This is because he would have to spend money every time he talked to her online. And fans of the show didn't think that Lana was actually who she said she was and wondered if David was being catfished.
After David went to Ukraine and Lana didn't meet him at the times that they had arranged, he actually paid a private investigator to track her down. According to Cheat Sheet, he wanted to find out her address, so that was one main motivation behind hiring a P.I.
David was searching for someone who lived in Ukraine, so that's why he was on the dating site, which only had females from that country. David was quoted saying, “I stopped dating in the USA 15 years ago. Every time I did I would start thinking about Ukraine, so I stopped trying so my heart was free just in case I went to Ukraine."
He said that he has had an active dating life with women from Ukraine and went out with more than 100 of them.
