Well we just left one of the most legendary places here in Madrid
This is Casa Lucio which I've wanted to visit for a long time is my first time coming
Mara hadn't come either had she
And what's the most typical thing here It's the eggs of
We ate in plural Lucio's eggs
and they are ******* great
Very recommendable place you know It's a bit hidden
But if you're looking for a special place if you come to Madrid and want a place like this it's really good
We ate the broken eggs well not fried eggs because they'really not broken
Because they don't have ham or anything else which is more typical
Then a little pig which was also very stylish
So that's how it was the skin a bit tough like that classic
Oh the typical crackling or how do you say it Pork crackling
Yes well it's the crispy skin
Yes the pork skin that's there a bit crispy
Then for dessert we ate rice pudding and a lost bread which was like a torrija right
Yes it was like torrijas a pudding made from torrijas bread It was very delicious
Yes so nothing if you come here you know it's very much worth it
It's true that it's cute it's very very good but because it's recommended everywhere so
And he's still around meaning Lucio is a gentleman in his 80s there right Somewhere around there
And here he is every day at the mouth of the canyon so if you want to meet him you'll find him here
Okay we're here in one of the most famous squares in all of Madrid which is the Plaza Mayor
That Mara from Madrid she is the best person to tell us a bit about the history of this square
Also from the 13th century
Yes from the 13th century It's a very nice square very large as you can see
And now there isn't as much because we're in the middle of July it's extremely hot and we'll be near 40 degrees
Well a recommendation if you can don't come in the summer If you have no other choice well but it's extremely hot
And there's no beach or anything it's a mess
During the rest of the year it's a place with very good weather it's true that on weekends it gets really crowded especially this central area
But for example this Plaza Mayor is usually quite full of people
At Christmas I think that's when the most people are here
All through the bridge the constitution of
Yes everything gets filled up it gets filled with stalls and then it's bursting at the seams meaning you can hardly even walk
Now as it is there is a lot of heat
It's very beautiful during Christmas it's very beautiful
Yes yes that is it's a pity I have to come but it's true that you'll have to be careful with your pockets
And here it's also very typical because people who take photos want to take photos with him dressed as a wrestler explorer and things like that
But here what's more is the artists the ones who draw your caricatures and stuff
Yes you can see one there I don't know if it will be visible on camera
And those who paint your portraits and such
And here is also a very well-known figure the one known as the fat Spider-Man
He's basically a guy with a nice mustache who's dressed up as Spider-Man
and the suit is already pink meaning it has faded over the years
But she also doesn't want to lose weight because it's well known that she's specifically the fat Spider-Man
So people come here to take a photo with the fat Spider-Man
It's been a while since I've seen him but he's usually around quite often
All these alleys that are part of the exits from the Plaza Mayor
It is specifically a street that connects the Plaza Mayor with Sol
It's well worth getting lost in these streets especially when you come to eat
Because it's full full full of restaurants or tapas bars and such
Then it's highly recommended to get lost and see where you're most attracted to what's being served and go in
It's true that many places are over-touristed and we try to steer clear of those spots
Because obviously in the most touristy areas are the places where the quality is not so good
And the prices are high they just give you paella I don't know how many
This you already know as always if the sign is in more than two languages it's mega-touristic
Now you are moving away from there
And so nothing else let's go to Sol now and here you have the typical souvenirs
Now we are at the Puerta del Sol which is in a quite large square here
It's the very center of Madrid the center more central than this there isn't anywhere in Spain
now let's see why
Yes he is very famous why
Because here are the bells look up there
Yes that is in this clock here this is where the national chimes are recorded
So every time he appears on television the chimes are all from this clock
The Sun clock which fills this square full full full of people
Now there's not many people around right away because it's a terrible heat
But this is usually on weekends in winter so there tends to be very nice people
Yes the hour is now ringing here
And nothing else it's also a very nice square it has many very characteristic areas
For example that poster of Tío Pepe which I can't remember but they changed that one right
It was on top of another building
And for example and now we've just seen a few more things
now that we're moving and telling you
And by the way for those of you who aren't Spanish and don't know what "campanadas" are
It's basically that at the end of the year at 12 midnight when the new year begins
Well that's where it's celebrated right I mean they count those final 12 chimes
ey are made by eating a grape for each bell chime for each second
And when the new year comes they already celebrate with fireworks and such things
The typical party
And indeed here is the reason why we said this is the very heart of all of Spain
Yes it's basically because this is the zero kilometer of all
it's the starting point of all Spanish roads
And now we are going to show you the symbol of Madrid
Of Madrid city Of Madrid community
Here we have the symbol I was talking about Mara which is the Bear and the Rowan
Why But we didn't
get that far okay
They call it the bear and the juniper because it's a bear and it's clinging to a what
Madroño
Oh I see It makes sense
Now we are one of the most famous shopping streets in Madrid
which is Preciados Street which has the mythical English cut
The largest and most legendary shopping center
here surpassing the old Preciados galleries
What is that Is it a giant building
It's Starbucks
Is it Starbucks really
Then those sides are all stores from the most well-known brands
Mango Stradivarius H&M
All the well-known ones are here
And if it's not here at Preciados it's the next one on Gran Vía which is where we're going
There's a lot of artist street artist magicians
Has the lady already pulled herself out
Yes
How funny
I don't want to record much because then they ask me to
stay That's it it's a street that's very good
Above here now since it's summer and the heat is
really strong they've put up here like like these fabrics up here
It covers a bit gives a bit of shade
And now it's much more pleasant than in the middle of the square
