Hello and welcome to my channel. Welcome if you are new. My name is Catherine and in today's video
I just want to share with you my Singapore adventures. I am staying here for four full days
I arrived yesterday in the morning, but I was so exhausted that I didn't do much and
Yeah, today is my first full day. I'm just gonna go explore and in this video
I'm just gonna share with you what you can do in Singapore. I'm just sitting down at both way and
I am really enjoying it. It's so beautiful here and peaceful and I'm just gonna go around
I'm probably gonna go to Marina Bay Sands today
So yeah, let's go
Goodness, it is so hot here. It's like sauna
I remember Asia being this hot and humid but not quite like this. It's insane
I'm staying in both way. It is only 10 minute walk from the
Esplanade and the Merlion Park and it's really weird for me to say Merlion. I just want to say Merlion
I don't know. I know it's Merlion, but it's just so weird, but
Just look at how pretty it is here. I just cannot
Now I am in the Sun Pavilion. Entrance is free and you can just wander around all of these like cactuses and
Plants and it's like a botanical garden. There is also a few
Places here that you have to pay for but it's basically a lot of free activities as well
Which is absolutely insane and I love it
And I love how all of these plants that we grow as house plants live here in their natural
Habitat and I think I have said that before in one of my Europe videos when I traveled
Europe in summer, but it just doesn't stop surprising me and
Wow, I love this and just look I just found a plant that's literally on my
Plant shelf, but here it is huge. Just look at it
Like a plant lovers paradise. I love it here
So I am here at the super tea grow and it just looks so phenomenal
I will come here at night as well because I've heard that at night
It looks so magical, but even now it just looks so magnificent
They are bigger than I thought they would be and there's also a treetop walk up there
I I don't know how much it costs but I'm not gonna go there because I've done a bunch of treetop walks in my life
and I know this is nothing I've ever experienced before because these are artificial trees, but
yeah, still I I just I just don't know I
If you like it you could do that as well, but I just I just don't feel like doing it
If you come to Gardens by the Bay and you think there is only
Super tree grow and flower dome and the waterfall you are so wrong
There is so much to see there is Malay garden. There is
Chinese garden Indian garden
There's so much to do lots of playing grounds for kids lots of walkways just so beautiful lush green
The views are absolutely insane and I absolutely love it here
And as far as safety goes, I feel absolutely safe as a solo female traveler
I have no concerns whatsoever and I just can see myself live here. It is just so beautiful
I think I say it a lot when I travel that I could see myself living in the place
This just feels so homey and so safe and so
for people, you know, like you can see that government and
They're just building things and making things better for their people, you know
Of course, every country has its own flaws and I'm sure Singapore has some clauses
I just it just absolutely blew my mind how beautiful and
Safe and just how how futuristic the city is
So I just absolutely love it here and right now
I think I'm just gonna walk around for a little bit more and then I'm just gonna go back and I
decided that I don't want to exhaust myself too much and I'm gonna be walking and exploring until like
3 4 p.m. And then I would just go back and have some study time work time. I need to edit lots of videos. So
Yeah, I think to not exhaust myself I will allow myself some time like rest time as well because
travel fatigue and travel exhaustion is a real thing and especially in climates like this when it's
Extremely hot and extremely humid you just get so exhausted very quickly
So if you ever travel to Southeast Asia allow yourself some time for rest getting really hungry
And I wanted to eat at the Maxwell
Food center that is really close to the Maxwell MRT where I got off when I got
On a metro from Gardens by the Bay, but I as a white stupid girl
I couldn't find the Maxwell food center as like running around but I couldn't find the entrance
So I went to the poker center that I was before and I had a really great
me goreng noodles and some lime juice and it was
150 for the juice and
$5 for me going with egg. So I think it's a great value
Traveling is as expensive as you make it and even in cities like Singapore one of the most expensive cities in the world
You can find cheap food and cheap activities and cheap like stuff to do on budget. So
It is the next day and after some delicious simple breakfast at my hostel I came to the
Makaritchi natural
natural reserve and oh my gosh, it is so humid today and honestly, I
Couldn't fall asleep last night until 1 a.m. And I thought I got used to the time difference
but no jet lag got me but this morning I pushed myself to get up at 830 and
Yeah, I've been walking for a while now. I have big plans for today
I don't know if I will do it all because I'm already quite tired, but
Yeah, it is beautiful it is peaceful and honestly when I was watching videos from
Singapore or blog posts
I never saw this trail this park as one of the attractions that you should do
But I would say that you must do this
there is this free treetop walk and then also like this bushwalk is very beautiful and very peaceful and
If you are into walking hiking bushwalking
Definitely give it a try. So yeah now let's go to the treetop walk. There's so many little ones. It's crazy
I'm gonna lie. I'm not the biggest fan of monkeys
I'm a little bit afraid of them because I've heard that they can take your caps and glasses and everything and glasses is my
one of my most valuable things in the world, so
Yeah, but they are so cute
It feels like there's not many tourists at all it looks like it's mostly
Locals, but again, it's really hard to tell who's local and who's not here
But it looks like they're like all on their morning walk like old people
Walking spending their morning healthy, but yeah, it is so hot and humid
It honestly feels even hotter and humidor than it was yesterday. I don't know it just
There's multiple trails and I am going to the treetop walk
It's so peaceful and beautiful here like a real jungle
almost there
Just 500 more meters to go. You go uphill to then go downhill to the treetop walk and
Honestly, I wouldn't say it's really hard
It was hard at one point like where the incline is a little bit bigger
But overall my fitness level is pretty much non-existent
so if you are fit, and if you are just an average person you can do it in any clothes or shoes and
All of the people are wearing sports clothes here, and I'm the only one wearing ribbed jeans, but honestly
It's totally doable and it's totally fine
Don't ask me what they are doing
Next up for today is Singapore Botanical Gardens and honestly, it's so huge you could spend an entire day here, but
My feet are just dying
So I think I'm just gonna go to the National Orchid Garden because I love orchids and I just want to see them
I just want to see what this place is about and then also visit the lake side and just chill for a little bit because
Honestly, I am just I'm just so tired
I decided to skip on the orchid garden mainly because it's
$15 and it's more than I'm willing to pay for this but
without
Going to orchid garden
there is still loads and loads to do loads of plants loads of prayer plants like marantas that
put their leaves up at night and
lots of other plants lots of palms, and I'm just going to the lake and just gonna chill by the lakeside and
I think even if you don't do any paid activities here. You can still have lots of fun and enjoy the day
There is literally so many beautiful tropical plants in here
An interesting fact about this lake there was actually a crocodile that lived in the lake for like
two years and
Then they had to drain all of the water off the lake so they could catch the animal
Yeah, pretty cool
I sat down to relax a little bit and I saw that I have multiple blisters and I like popped them and
Now I started walking again, and I am like debating my life choices, but this is what travel is sometimes about it's like
it hurts sometimes I
Was planning to go to little India for lunch and like wander around and maybe buy a sarong
I really want to buy sarong to have it like a beach towel as well because my travel towel
It's like it's so soft that everything sticks to it basically and it just gets very dirty very quickly
And so I thought maybe I could buy a sarong or something
So yeah, but now that I have these blisters, and I popped them and it hurts so bad
I just don't know what should I do like maybe I should go back to the hostel and chill for a little bit or
just
You know go to little India because at first I thought okay four full days in Singapore is a lot
But now that it's Thursday already, and I leave on Sunday, and I still want to see so much
I just think that I should push myself
For a little bit and then go to back to hostel and just chill for the rest of the day, so
We'll see what I end up doing, but right now. I am walking to the MRT station
I decided that I am going to go to little India and have some lunch at a food center there because I am getting hungry
And I don't have to rush anywhere. I can take my time and walk slowly or as fast as I can and
just try to enjoy this time as much as I can because
despite the fact that my feet hurt so bad and
You know when something starts to hurt you don't even feel the humidity and the heat anymore
the only thing I hope for that it doesn't rain because
Rains here can be very heavy
Got myself some freshly squeezed orange juice for 250 and honestly
I feel like a whole new woman after that lunch and this whole juice is just giving me so much more energy and
Life and yeah, I'm just now gonna go to walk around the streets of little India and just admire
this place this
What is it called this neighborhood of Singapore where pretty much everybody is Indian
except for me and some other tourists, but
Yeah, let's explore a little India
They really wanted to find the magnet because you probably know I collect magnets as a typical tourist
Yes, but I couldn't find one that I really liked so I didn't get one in Chinatown. There's so many cute souvenir shops and
Trust me you would want to get everything but like I didn't find super cute magnets
They were all like mediocre, so I didn't get any so hopefully I can find something in the next one and a half days
But that's my update. It's getting like overcast. It's probably gonna rain
So I'm gonna return to my hostel and have some like chill time talk to my mom
Singapore in February they said it's the driest month of the year. They said
Hey guys, I don't know if you can see or hear me, but I just had lunch lunch. I just had dinner at
Lapasat
Poker Center and it was probably the biggest poker center that I've been. I had chicken noodles
with curry sauce and now I'm just walking to Marina Bay where they have these
like spectra light shows with fountains and then like the giant
Giant trees they light up in the dark, but it's been raining like crazy for a past like 20 minutes
but now it's a little bit better and I'm just walking under these trees and
hopefully the show is on this evening because I don't know if it's I honestly don't know if
They make the show when it's raining. So fingers crossed. I have no clue what this is. But basically, yeah
Today is my final day here and I'm going to Sentosa Island
I am so excited
I've never been so excited to chill on the beach. There is a ton to do on Sentosa Island
But I'm not going to do too much. I'm just mainly going there to chill on the beach. But yeah, let's go there together
I'm on the beach
It's so beautiful here and yeah, there's some construction noise
Guys so I just quickly wanted to pop in here to talk about travel expectations
So I just met this lady from the UK
She was trying to find this trail on Sentosa Island and I was interested in the trail as well
But my feet hurt so much and I have those blisters and it just hurts so bad that I'm not going on that trail
but she couldn't find the trail we couldn't figure it out and
Then I went to the tower and I met her again and she was like, oh I am so disappointed
I thought this tower is gonna be higher and I was like, yeah sure
And I didn't even know that there would be a tower
But for example, I am quite disappointed with the Sentosa Island in general
No, I thought it would be different and so I think it's very important to learn to travel without expectations
And I am slowly learning that because I've learned my lesson the hard way when I set expectations that oh
We're gonna do this or we're gonna do that
And so now I am trying trying and learning to travel without expectation
It would be more fun if we are surprised how much we like the place when we don't have expectations rather than being disappointed
I hope it makes sense. This is the southernmost point in the continental Asia and
I'm just gonna go back and just chill on the beach and relax for the rest of the day
Probably gonna spend here a few hours and then just return to my house because I leave tomorrow morning and I have to chill
Yeah, I will see you a little bit later
Right, I decided to go back because I am getting really hungry and it's getting really really hot out
And I don't want to burn. I think I am sunburned already, but
yeah, I'm just gonna go back to
mainland Singapore and have something to eat and then then see
What I end up doing, but I hope you guys enjoyed this video
I know it was quite a long one
I have decided to combine all four full days in Singapore into one vlog and
Yeah, I think it was a long one
But nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed it and don't forget to Like and subscribe and I will see you very soon. Bye
