Guys, basketball being back is amazing.
So naturally when basketball returns,
I have to bring you guys more content.
I have to up my game even more.
You guys know this is going to be
one of the best NBA channels on YouTube.
Basketball is back and it honestly just sounds good to say.
So to start this video,
I would like to know the biggest surprises
from the first few days of NBA action for you guys.
For me, I think it would easily have to be
R.J. Barrett dropping 20 points in the first half
versus the Indiana Pacers.
R.J. Barrett had 20 points in the first half
and he didn't miss a shot.
His evolution is going to be something
that Knicks fans should be very excited about.
Naturally, I wish I could overview
every single game at once,
but we're going to have to take things one at a time.
I'm very unfortunate, I know.
Something that I really wanted to see this season
was the debut of Russell Westbrook.
Simply because this man has gotten so much hate
that it really feels like everybody has forgotten
how good Russell Westbrook really is.
And that is something that I am not here for.
Recency bias is a very real thing.
Everybody remembers Westbrook
for what he did in the playoffs
and not his entire body of work.
Well, you see, the way recency bias works
is people feed off of recent events.
The fun thing is, I think Westbrook is about
to put together a chain of recent events
that remind everybody how dominant
this explosive six foot three beast really is.
This video, we're going to be talking about Westbrook,
the 76ers, and the Wizards.
But before we go any further,
be sure to subscribe and turn on notifications
because you will not want to miss
another Get Like Coop video.
And that's facts.

You want to talk about a tone setter?
Then let's talk Russell Westbrook.
The Wizards said that Westbrook set the tone
from the moment he walked in the gym.
And even though there were no fans on opening night,
I truly felt like I could feel the electricity
from Russell Westbrook.
Now I'm not going to lie and sit here and tell you,
he's athletic as he once was.
But man, I would be lying all the same
if I told you he still wasn't a high level player.
Early on, against the Philadelphia 76ers,
Westbrook didn't take the bait.
He knows teams want him to shoot the ball from distance.
He passes up on an open three,
dribbles in, walks into an easy mid-range shot,
a shot that he's all too familiar with.
The shot went in,
and you can tell Westbrook was feeling good.
So good that he did the same thing the next possession.
The greatest trick the Warriors ever played on the NBA
was tricking everybody into believing
the mid-range game was a lost art.
Steph Curry don't shoot him.
Why should I?
Shaking my head.
The harsh reality is that everybody
simply is not Stephen Curry.
For better or for worse, Russ is going to be Russ.
Seahawks fans have been knowing for the longest of times
that sometimes you just gotta let Russ cook.
What better way to get OKC Russ back
than reuniting him with his old coach
and letting Russ do his thing.
In OKC, Russell Westbrook was a monster,
walking triple-double.
The Thunder were better when Russ got his triple-doubles.
That's not a fabricated lie.
That's a statistical fact.
Get the ball in the hands of your best playmaker
and let him play make.
People were mad at that.
The crazy thing is,
is that I've watched Russell Westbrook play a lot.
This past season, I watched a lot of Rockets basketball.
I wanted to find out if Westbrook's triple-doubles
were cap or not.
And let me tell you,
this guy goes up and fights for every single board.
I've seen him boxing out bigs.
He's not just getting boards that fall to him.
He's contending on the glass.
Right here, you see Russell Westbrook get the rebound
and push the tempo to get an easy alley-oop
for his teammate.
This is the Westbrook that makes a basketball team better.
He's going to get you easy baskets.
He's going to get your team out in transition and pumped up.
Thomas Bryan and Westbrook are two players
who are going to love playing with each other.
The Wizards commentator noted how Bryan last season
was somebody that would typically trail in transition
and hunt threes.
Already, we've seen Bryan looking to get out in transition
and run the break, get to the basket,
and get easy opportunities.
The game is easier when you know somebody
is looking for you and going to find you.
We all know Russ loves his spacing,
so he can attack the basket and do what he's best at.
Bryan shot 40% from three last season.
The Wizards are a team filled with versatile defenders
and offensive players.
Rui, Denny, Bertans, the list goes on.
Unfortunately, this game, Bertans,
was on a minute restriction or limited,
but he got hot, and he got hot fast.
This guy knocks down three straight threes,
and if you don't believe he's a flamethrower,
the deepness on this three should tell you
everything you need to know.
That's not a heat check, that's a I got it on me.
Everybody can't take that three.
Come to think of it, I actually do enjoy the idea
of the Wizards bringing Bertans off the bench
and starting Denny, and I think Denny is somebody
that's going to benefit from playing with better players.
If you let Denny have a lighter role in the starting lineup,
he can compliment your two-star players.
We already know Bertans can fill it up,
and he doesn't need a lot of help to do so.
Bradley Beal, Bertans, last season,
that team did not have a lot of help,
but that did not stop these two from doing their thing.
One thing I love about Westbrook is he's decisive.
He plays with pace.
When you play with pace, you make the defense nervous.
They know they're going to have to scramble
when you get the ball.
Make the defense react.
Don't let teams get set.
Don't let them get in their half-court defense.
In the NBA, nobody wants to sprint back consistently.
Even though the Wizards lost this game,
I enjoyed what I saw from Bradley Beal.
I enjoyed what I saw from Russell Westbrook.
Even though at one point he had 11 shots in like 13 minutes,
almost averaging a shot per minute,
I really did enjoy what I saw from Russell Westbrook.
Now, the downside of playing with Westbrook
and playing with pace is Westbrook is going to have
this moment where he's out of control.
Hey, it happens.
I'm pretty sure I've even seen Braun out of control
and missing dunks, ducks.
Trip Dub, Russ is back, 21 points, 15 dimes, 11 boards,
31 points for Bradley Beal, 11 of 22.
If you're a Wizards fan,
you really have to like what you saw.
If you're a 76ers fan, Doc was kind of tripping
at some points in the game.
Danny Green was also not the best.
One of six from the field, 0 of four from three.
Danny Green's going to have to play better going forward.
It's almost mind boggling that in 18 minutes,
Danny Green was a minus 27.
Now, that's a really empty stat.
Plus minus really doesn't tell us much of anything,
but man, Green was not good in my opinion.
I like what the Sixers have in Maxie, Ben Simmons.
I really want to see this guy get up like 20 shots per game,
be more invested in taking mid-range and deep jump shots.
Joel and Bede look like in Bede, 29 and 13.
If I'm a 76ers fan, this team is talented.
They just have to play at the level
we all know they can play at.
Where do you guys have these two teams finishing
in the Eastern Conference?
We know that Eastern Conference
is continually getting better.
And to me, I think that's a scary sight.
Clicking the video on the screen right now
