We are in Ahmed, which is a small diving and fishing town in North East Bali.
And we're here for Deep Week, which is a seven day free diving training program
run by myself and five other instructors.
There are 30 students coming and we are more or less going to be diving
and getting comfortable diving deeper,
being comfortable at depth in this beautiful bay right here.
We would start the day with some theory in the classroom.
Every day we would try to cover all the major concepts of free diving.
And then we'd also build on those based on what the students wanted to do.
If a student wanted to cover a topic in more depth, then we would do that.
I'm throwing dice, but luck's got nothing on me.
Arranging the perfect conditions
for breeding, for cultivating
the tainted seed of your ideas.
Funny how we think alike.
That's because I told you what to think.
So this is where some of us have been staying for the duration of the camp.
Right here in this little bungalow is Shaz, one of the instructors
that has come all the way from Australia.
Good morning, Shaz.
Then we have Dan, another instructor
that has come from Australia to teach in the camp in Bali.
Good morning, Dan.
And here at the end is me.
This is my bungalow.
And then right down here is the beach.
Ta-da!
This is the beach just in front of where we're staying.
As you can see, it's completely calm and flat,
which is one of the main reasons why we actually come to Ahmed.
I really like the black volcanic sand here, actually,
because it makes diving here really kind of interesting.
The water gets a little bit dark towards the bottom.
I kind of like that a lot.
It's also like a completely different landscape than most other places
that I dove in personally, because, you know, we used to know
some of like white sandy beaches, but now we have black sandy beaches.
We've been training heaps lately,
so we're going for a dive on the Liberty Wreck.
This bay here hides the beautiful Liberty Wreck.
That's two minutes.
We're doing a group static breath hold exercise, working on relaxation.
We've just finished day six of the camp and we're up at Sunset Point,
which is pretty much the best place in all of Ahmed.
Watching the sun go down behind the volcano.
There's Jamaluk Bay again, the bay that we dive in every day.
It's been a seriously awesome time with a really great group of people.
Learning how to rescue an unconscious diver and dealing with dive accidents
are a huge part of what we teach on Deep Week.
And there are some skills you can never practice too much.
We're about to go dive on the Japanese Wreck,
which is a really small little wreck just here in Ahmed,
but it's actually really beautiful.
Lots of beautiful fish and corals around there.
And here's our nice big group of freedivers.
Hello, everybody.
The camp is done.
Seven days of freediving training.
There's a full moon there, if you can see that.
How's this for a view?
Still not there.
I'm really happy with how the camp went.
We had some really huge progress from all of the divers.
Everyone that came to the camp made some remarkable progress.
And then we had some people that we had one diver hit 50 metres on the camp.
We had another diver that had never dove in their life before.
And after the at the end of the week, they were diving deeper than 35 metres.
And it just sort of demonstrates to me that this type of learning
is a huge success, that by bringing a large group of people together
and a big group of instructors in which we can all balance off
each other's energy and experience levels.
And that group dynamic and that group vibe, that positivity
really brings all that diving up.
And that, for me, is why Deep Week is such a big success
and why people get so much out of it.
So that's it for my time in Bali.
I really hope you did enjoy the video.
If you are interested in coming to Deep Week, just send me a message.
And otherwise, make sure you like this video and subscribe to my channel
because it really does help me keep doing what I do
and to bring you my underwater adventures.
