This is Malaysia. We are in Malacca. That's Junker Street.
And tonight we're here to shove as much street food into our big fat faces as we can.
Let's go!
We got a bunch of deep fried quail eggs on a stick.
Try it.
With some sausage in the middle and chili sauce on top.
The chili sauce is more sweet. There's a slight ting to it.
Spicy would have been a lot better.
Yeah, if it was spicier it would have been better.
Thank you.
Good?
Yes, eggs, one eggs, one flour, and other flavors.
And other flavors? What's inside these ones?
You can have a look here.
We have sausage, we have brown, honey chicken, octopus, and crab stick.
Okay, so this is my first time trying.
I want a fresh one, is that okay?
So what's inside that one?
Now it's octopus and this one chicken floss.
Chicken floss or octopus?
Chicken floss.
This one?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, let's try that.
Chicken?
Yeah.
One sauce.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
Thank you.
They're calling this a Chinese burger.
And what it looks to be is like a fried egg.
And this one, they have different flavors inside of all of them.
And this one has chicken floss.
Chicken floss and it's covered in a chili sauce and it's super hot.
It looks super messy.
Try it.
Oh, it's hot.
Is it really hot?
Mm-hmm.
Too hot to eat?
Mm-mm.
Uh-oh.
Oh, that's good though.
We got one right fresh off the grill.
Oh, my God.
Yeah, so like the egg is like crispy on the outside and like eggy on the inside.
And then you've got that chicken floss.
I don't know if you can see that.
And the chicken floss always has like a bit of a sweetness to it, right?
That is super tasty.
That is really good.
Yeah, it's really good.
It looks like super simple but delicious.
And it's so hot.
And messy.
Those are awesome.
It's like the crispy, eggy outside.
Oh, yeah.
The chicken floss works really well with it.
A little spicy sauce that's all over it.
That's delicious.
Mm.
Eat it.
Eight and a half out of ten.
Wouldn't recommend.
Absolutely.
The lady who just sold us the egg, the Chinese burger made of egg said we should try one
of these crispy baby crabs.
So I'm just going to grab one out of here.
Okay.
Check him out.
Pop it in your mouth.
It's a whole crab.
Pop it in your mouth.
Whole thing.
Pop the whole thing in your mouth.
It is crispy.
It's so good.
So these are potatoes.
It looked like actually quite labor intensive.
They had like mashed potatoes.
They put them through a press which makes them into this long skinny shape.
And then they put them in the deep fryer and these ones just came fresh out of the deep
fryer.
So sometimes when you're here you gotta have some patience because there was a big line
up.
These look really popular.
We got your choice of toppings.
This one is Japanese mayonnaise.
Oh that's good.
Mm.
Because you're expecting something like a french fry but because it's like mashed potatoes
it's got like that crispy outside and it's super creamy inside.
I like this a lot.
Alright.
We're going to give Angie's little potato here a try with the Korean spicy sauce.
Oh there's definitely heat to that.
Stop shaking my table.
There's definitely some heat to that.
And the next sauce we got is Korean spicy sauce.
So let's see how spicy that is.
It's got a little bit of heat to it.
I'm surprised because usually the chili sauce around here is more sweet.
Oh watch.
Here's some spicy sauce.
It's good.
I'm going to dip a little bit of this to get some of the, what was this?
Japanese seaweed?
Mm-hmm.
And then there's little seaweed flakes all over top of it as well.
It's American.
I'm going to go out on a limb here.
These are better than McDonald's french fries.
Oh wow.
That's a big pronouncement.
These are good.
Awesome.
The spicy sauce is really good.
Alright this is something I'm kind of juiced about right now.
Sounds weird but I've had corn all over Southeast Asia.
And a bunch of weird different things.
And it's always been amazing.
So here we go.
Cheesy corn.
What's that?
Butter?
Condensed milk.
Oh wow.
Amazing.
Alright.
Cheesy corn.
Look at that cheese.
Wow.
Oh my gosh.
Yep.
That is so good.
It's like the condensed milk though.
It's sweet.
It just kind of brings out the sweetness of the corn.
You don't taste like overly sweet.
And that cheesiness is unbelievable.
Oh my god.
Jeff's not getting any of this.
Alright.
Here we go.
Cheesy corn.
Watch this.
That's stupid.
That's insane.
I had to pull the cheese off with my hands there because I was dumb and stuck the whole
thing in my mouth.
It just didn't want to stretch off.
But once again, Southeast Asia here.
It's something with corn.
They do it.
And they do all this different stuff with corn.
And it's awesome.
Every single time.
That's really good.
I love this.
A while back we had those fries that had the spicy sauce on it.
And I'm so thirsty.
And I have a whole watermelon.
They just blend it up, stick a straw in it, and that's it.
That is so refreshing.
And you don't get more natural juice than that, right?
Watermelon juice.
It's super pulpy.
Pulpy.
Yeah.
It's good though.
Yeah.
So good.
Hello.
Can I show a ride?
Yeah.
It's amazing to me how many people we see doing this.
And they're deadpan.
Yeah.
No emotion.
How can you not do this?
You smile.
Hello.
I like that song.
Alright, that's enough of Angie's shenanigans.
Let's go eat some more.
Okay, radish cake.
No idea what this is.
I just saw them making it up, adding the eggs to it.
But let's give it a try.
What's it taste like?
I have no idea how to describe the flavors or anything else that's in there.
You're going to have to try this and see.
I really have no idea, but it's good.
Alright, this radish cake looked so good when he was frying it up in the wok.
It stopped us in our tracks, so we had to try it.
So you got the chili taste.
They put the chili in there.
It's soft.
I expected it to have a little bit of bite, but it's got like a really soft and creamy texture.
Let me try it again.
I have no idea how to describe this.
Like tofu.
Maybe like tofu.
That's the closest thing I could compare that to.
But like spicy chili, like smoky from the wok with the egg.
That's really good.
Let's see how he makes it.
I see.
Alright.
We get what?
Alright, this is something I've always wanted to try.
It's called dragon beard candy.
So basically they take sugar, warm sugar, and they make like a big long ribbon out of it.
And then they pull it, and they keep pulling it, doubling it up on itself, pulling it again
so that two strings becomes four, becomes eight, becomes sixteen until they become so fine
they look like a dragon beard.
Then they wrap peanuts up in it, and here it is.
What do you think?
It's chewy.
It's chewy?
Oh wow.
It's really good though.
Alright.
It's almost like candy floss.
Like fairy floss, cotton candy.
It's got peanuts wrapped in it, but it's not as sweet.
Like it doesn't have that artificial sweetness to it.
No, it's not nearly as sweet.
It's like really sweet and nice.
It's really tasty.
And flossy.
Look at that.
Look how fine it is.
Oh, that's really good.
This is fried ice cream.
I have no idea what to expect.
We ordered a chocolate and a vanilla.
I don't know who has what right now.
I have chocolate.
Holy Jesus.
I haven't even gotten the ice cream part yet.
There's like this crispy, crunchy little pastry that's around it.
I think that, yeah, it's delicious.
It's almost like a croissant, but it's like hot and flaky and just came out of the oil,
so it tastes amazing.
That is pretty good.
That's really good.
Mouthy chocolate ice cream inside?
Yes, please.
Have one?
Fried.
Fried?
No, no, finished.
Finished?
Okay, we'll have a fresh one.
Spicy?
Spicy, yeah.
Peanut and peanut.
Peanut's good, yeah.
What's that?
Ice cream.
Okay.
Chili.
Chili, yeah.
That is terrible.
Tomato bean sprouts.
What is this?
Onion.
Turnip.
Turnips.
Vegetable and turnip.
Okay.
Rice paper?
Flour?
This one?
Skin.
Okay, next up is something called popiah.
Don't really know what it is,
but we're going to give it a shot.
So we saw her making it.
It kind of looks like a salad roll in like a crepe,
so it's got a crepe on the outside,
some veggies, onions, carrots, lettuce, chili sauce inside.
It's really, I've seen it a lot of places here in Malaysia,
and I've been wanting to try it, so.
Oh, it's actually really good.
She does these both fried and fresh.
We have fresh.
Apparently, she said fried was all finished,
so maybe she ran out of oil.
I don't know.
It is very similar to a Vietnamese salad roll,
just it has sautéed onions inside,
and the outside crepe is more floury.
But it's very tasty.
Rather than rice papery.
I imagine if you deep fried it,
it would be a lot like a super tasty egg roll.
That's delicious.
Yeah, it's really good.
Thumbs up for popiah.
Potato.
Is that a rice spice pox?
Next up, pani puri.
These little crispy deep fried shells.
This is an Indian dish,
and inside it's got onions, potatoes,
several kinds of sauces, like spicy sauce,
and then like little rice puffs.
Give it a shot.
Not my first time with pani puri,
and I love it.
Oh, it's so good.
That's delicious.
Crunchy on the outside,
you get that freshness of that chopped red onion,
the creaminess of the potato,
and then there's this tamarind-y sauce.
Oh, that's so good.
It's just bite-sized deliciousness.
So delicious.
And to remind me of my time that I spent in India,
I got myself a masala chai,
which is phenomenal.
Oh, I love that.
You can taste all the spices
that they put inside of there.
So good.
Alright, they had a whole big table
of Chinese dim sum up there.
We're asking the guy what they were,
and we got kind of an idea,
but there's so many different kinds.
We're just like, one of those, one of those.
Let's give it a shot.
This one's like a little pork dumpling.
They're tasty.
Juicy.
Yeah, it's very flavorful.
Really well-seasoned meat.
Oh, that one's really good.
I probably should have ate it in two bites.
I don't know, in dim sum,
are you supposed to eat it all in one bite?
I'm eating it all in one bite.
This is pork with mushrooms.
Guy knows what he's doing, eh?
Yeah, that's tasty.
But we're really at one of those points again.
We've eaten everything out there.
There's still a lot left to try out there
that we haven't eaten,
but I feel like we've eaten so much
I'm kind of miserable right now.
That's what happens on food tours.
I'm going to get one more in here for you guys,
and then we're killing this thing here
because I am kind of unhappy right now.
I am so full, and I'm tired,
and I want to go to bed.
Okay.
I want to shower, and I want to go to bed.
Alright.
Alright, let's go find one more.
I haven't had a soursop in three years.
Soursop juice!
Alright, this is the last thing up tonight.
What we've got basically is a soursop juice.
If you don't know what soursop is,
it's a fruit.
I grew these when I lived in the Bahamas.
I love this as ice cream,
so I'm really excited to try a soursop juice right now.
Oh, that's so refreshing.
We've been eating a lot of stuff tonight,
like salty stuff and spicy stuff,
and that just goes down so perfect.
So tasty, so smooth.
Yeah, and that's the last of it
because we are uncomfortably stuffed
from eating all of this food,
and we're beat,
so we're going to sign off now and go home.
We're wrapping this one up,
so you guys be sure to like and subscribe
so you can follow along and see what we eat next.
Bye!
