While traveling on an American highway it can be challenging (for an Italian guy) to find a decent coffee at a rest area.
But sometimes there is more than just stale drip coffee or overpriced Starbucks.
Find out how letting go of the obsession for quality food can help to realize there is something more important.

This is our hysteria on the mass pike. My wife and I stop here, you know, get gas, stretch your legs,
have coffee. It's okay. As you might know, Italians are a bit snobby when it comes to coffee.
Just a bit. And you might wonder why. When it comes to coffee, what do you get?
It's either drip coffee or Starbucks. Not exactly something that I'm really fond of, I have to say.
The funny thing is that on certain highways there is not even a rest area. You have to exit.
They're called food exit. Let's say quality is not that great. The thing is in Italy on the highways
rest areas are called Alfa Grill. Do you remember about Alfa Grill? Oh yeah, how can I forget?
It was pretty nice. Great coffee experience, full coffee bar, full assortment of croissants
and good ones with the cream filling. Sandwiches were good as well. Yeah, we had breakfast at one
and there was an excellent fresh mozzarella and tomato and I think it was four euros if I remember.
Yeah, this is the main thing. This is the main thing because I grew up in that context where
I can say you take for granted that coffee is good, food is good on the highways in this case.
So living abroad, most Italians, they're disappointed. Let's put it this way. But I have
to say that on this on the mass pike actually the rest areas they have decent coffee. Look at these
beautiful coffee beans that you're gonna grind before having your own coffee. Love it.
A little more. Okay, here's the coffee. We like to share.
I mean look at the size. It's an American coffee, what do you expect? Yeah, very correct.
I have to say that this, this really helped me to let's say recognize that there is this
emotional attachment to good coffee and I realized that it's not as important as enjoying
and being grateful for in this case traveling with my wife and having a good time with the people
around you. See you next time. Ciao.
