On a beautiful spring weekend in 2019 Dude RV and crew head east into the East Texas Piney woods and pay a visit to the beautiful Daingerfield State Park. A short 2 hour drive east of Dallas nestled into the gorgeous tall pine trees od east Texas is a beautiful Texas State Park that was built by the CCC in the New Deal Era. Daingerfield State Park is a prefect place to take the kids and spend some quality tie together as a family. In this video I touch on the highlist of this great little park. Come along with me as I tour Daingerfield State Park!
Good morning YouTube! Hey, thanks for stopping by Dude RV. Today, it's kind of gloomy. It's May 17,
2019, and today we're loaded up. We've got Miss V hooked up, and as you can see,
we've got our tag along going with us. We are headed east of Dallas, going out into the East
Texas Piney Woods to pay a visit to Dangerfield State Park. Now, I've heard a lot of great things
about Dangerfield State Park, and it's been rather difficult to actually book a site. So,
it must be a good park, but we're going to find out. So, come on, let's hit the road and go to
East Texas Dangerfield State Park. We have arrived at Dangerfield State Park. We're in site number
29, and as you can see, I have to break out the do-rag because it's kind of humid. The air is
pretty still because we are deep in the East Texas Piney Woods. Now, let's do a little quick site
review on site number 29. I have never been to Dangerfield State Park, so I had no idea
what we were in for. I thought, you know, I like being at the end of the road,
and I'm having second thoughts. Site number 29 is very close to all the other sites.
This little loop is just, it's really compact. It slopes dramatically to the rear.
Both my rear wheels are off the ground. It is full connection though, so we've got sewer,
water, 30, sewer, water, and 30. So, if you've got a 50 amp, you're not going to be running two air
conditioners, so they say. Picnic table, the aluminum picnic table, is at the back of the site,
and there's a lantern post, and it gets kind of confusing because you're not sure, well,
is this mine or is this theirs? There's a tent pad for that site right in my front yard,
and there's a big drop off on the asphalt, so you got to be careful walking around. So,
site number 29, Dangerfield State Park. So, I'm going to jump on the scooter. We're going to take
a run around the park and see what there is to see. All right, I just came down a pretty steep
hill over there. It's going to be interesting going back up on the FPV scooter tour. I'm right
here by the lake. See the lake right there? We can actually see the fishing dock over there.
The important thing that I wanted to show you was the trail map. So, this trail,
Rustling Leaves Trail, it looks like it goes all the way around the lake, and there's actually a
picnic area. I don't know if I'm going to be able to get to that. So, we're right here because that
doesn't look like it's a developed trail because that's the trail. There's another one right there
that goes back up into the woods. I know I can't do that one, but I may try that one later. But,
we're going to head over to the store right now. All right, cruising around here. Dangerfield
State Park. I found that you can actually rent paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks. They have a
big fishing pier right here. Check this out. That's a pretty little lake. I brought some worms
with me. So, maybe later on this afternoon I'll come back over here and see if I can get something
on my hook. Pardon me. Doing good? How are y'all doing? All right, here are the canoes and the
kayaks at Dangerfield State Park. Like most East Texas lakes, there's a lot of lily pads and
reeds on this lake. We experienced that at Martin Creek Lake State Park as well. Of course,
that was a much larger lake. I can see why so many people have said this was their favorite park.
That's a pretty little park. I think this is the swimming area over here. This is the day use
picnic tables and a swim platform. It appears it's not a beach, but it's definitely a swim area.
Not handicap friendly though. All right, I'm gonna go check out the store. Howdy. How are you doing?
Great, how are you? A jukebox. What a commanding view of Lake Dangerfield.
This is a problem for those of us who have mobility issues. This park was built by the
the CCC back in the 30s. There's music. I gotta go. I'm over here in the big pine loop
and I'm really wishing this is where I had booked my campsite because it's not quite as
compact as where we're set up. We're right here by the lake, as you can see, and there's a hilo.
I haven't seen too many of those in my campground travels, but over here in the big pine loop
it looks as if most of these sites would be too small for Ms. V. Ms. V's got, you know,
she's got a little bulk to her, but these are all would be perfect for Leon. But man,
it is pretty back here. All right, I think this is pretty important. I'm riding around
taking pictures for my google guide and I found out that this is the nature center and it's not
open. The little pine nature center. Anyway, I was down here just taking pictures of the boat
boat ramp. If you have a boat, you might want to bring it down here and go boating. They've got a
boat. Can you see them? You may not be able to see them, but anyway, I noticed this sign.
A fish consumption advisory exists for this body of water or adjacent areas. So if you're
going to go fishing, don't eat the fish. Well, I finished the FPV scooter tour. Didn't take very long.
Not a real big park, but I wanted to check out this trail. Six mile trail that goes all the way
around the lake, but that's not happening. Scooter's not gonna make it through there,
but I was when I was on the fishing dock earlier, I saw that somewhere over here there's like a
bridge or a wooden walkway. So I had hopes that maybe, just maybe, they would have thought about us.
Mobility challenge folks, but guess not. Let's go see if we can find some more stuff.
Day two. Dangerfield State Park has just begun. Well, actually it began a little while ago. I'm almost
finished with the pot of coffee. Started up some breakfast and as you can see we're gonna do some
bacon and eggs, baby. Man, I just love being out in the East Texas piney woods. It's just always so quiet.
Lots of birds singing. Now as you can see behind me, we had Tent City come in. Six cars, four tents, and
dozens of children. That's all right. It's hard to be upset about the laughter of children having a
good time in the campground. After breakfast, I'm gonna pull out the trailer, load up the fishing
gear, and head down to the fishing pier. Gear to the pier. Take the fishing gear to the fishing pier
and see what we can catch, if anything. So stay tuned. More to come at Dangerfield State Park.
Well, here we are. Dangerfield State Park. Once again, it's windy as all get out.
Water's muddy from all the rain. We'll see what we can do as far as catching some fish. If nothing
else, we can look at the ducks. All right, so the Tent City crowd, they've come over and they've rented
a bunch of paddle boats and kayaks, providing some great video footage because the fish aren't biting.
Well, once again, the fish have avoided capture. Once again, my aquatic sales presentation
was not appropriate. Not even a bite. Now, there were some folks that I was visiting with.
They were, she was pulling in some little bitty, little bitty brim. That's about it.
All right, let's see what else we can get into. Where are we? Dangerfield State Park.
It's about one o'clock in the afternoon, Saturday. We've got weather coming in.
Not a whole lot in Dangerfield State Park to do besides fishing, and there's lead in the water,
so you don't want to eat the fish. You don't want to eat the fish that comes out of the lake because
there's lead in the water. At least that's what one guy told me, that there was lead in the water.
There's definitely a sign that says you don't want to eat the fish. There's not much else going on.
We're just relaxing. We're just relaxing and hanging out, watching the Tent Nation pack up.
They don't want to be in a tent when the storms roll through, apparently,
and the storms are going to be rolling through here about four o'clock, between three and five.
Had another pleasant experience today. I was scooting around on the scooter, just playing.
I've already done most of my video stuff here, so I was just having fun riding a scooter,
and somebody waved me down, and if you're watching this, you know who I'm talking about.
I appreciate y'all stopping me and telling me about your adventures.
I'm so honored that you say I've inspired you. That's my mission,
is to share all these beautiful state parks. There's just so much here in this great state
that we have. We're so blessed. You don't need to drive a thousand miles to see beauty in nature.
It's right outside your back door. You just got to get out there and see it.
The rain has started. It came out a little bit sooner than I was expecting.
They said it wouldn't hit us until about two, three o'clock. Well, they were wrong.
They're caught by surprise, too. Here's what we're looking at. It's making life interesting
for the RV experience at Dangerfield State Park. We're right over here, and this is throwing out
some very serious wind and hail. It's going to be interesting in a couple hours. Dangerfield
State Park line of storms is moving our way. It's reported to have some pretty high winds in it. I
wanted to come out here and look up. Drop the mic. I wanted to come out here and make sure there
were no widow makers above us and evaluate. Should we relocate? I don't think so. I don't
think so. I think we're good. I think it's just going to come through real quick, be some gust
and we'll be done. The people in the tent aren't leaving. By golly, I'm not leaving.
Good morning. Well, we are wrapping up, packing up, getting ready to hit the road and heading
back to the Hacienda Grande. Dangerfield State Park, done. Here's my recap on Dangerfield State
Park. It's a great little park, especially if you've got a family. Not so great if you have a
big RV. With one exception, that's over on that loop, the new loop where the pull throughs are.
If and when I return, I look forward to camping over there because it's right on the water. The
sites there are more level and they're much easier for me to navigate. Whereas where we're set up
here, this is one of the older camping loops. It's a challenge for me to navigate. It was a
challenge for us to set up Miss V. But all in all, Dangerfield is a nice little park.
Not a whole lot for the mobility challenge to do. I was not able to get down to the swim area,
as you saw. I haven't seen a whole lot of wildlife either. It's just kind of weird. Now over by the
day use area where the pavilion is and the swim area, I saw there's quite a few squirrels over
there. But here, I haven't seen a squirrel on this part of the park. A number of birds,
no deer, nothing else. So it's kind of boring in that respect. I guess that about wraps it up.
Dangerfield State Park, done. Park number 43 for me. At the end of this month, in two weeks,
we've got another trip planned. I have been to all the Texas State Parks in northeast Texas.
Now we got to head south, down into the big thicket area, southeast Texas. In the next
upcoming videos, we're going to see Mission Tejas State Park. And I understand that has
sustained some damage a few weeks back. That may be an interesting video. Lake Livingston will be
the next one. And then we are headed over to Martin Dyes State Park. And I'm really excited
about that one because they show pictures of alligators on the website. Maybe we'll see some
gators. If this is the first time you've been here and you've not yet done it, click on the
subscribe button down there. And most important, click on that bell. That way the next Texas State
Park video that I load, you won't miss it. If you enjoyed the production, give me one of those
thumbs up and share me on social media. Tell all your friends and family, hey go check out the
DudeRV channel. For those of you who have subscribed, I'm so deeply honored. The conversation
I had with a viewer subscriber yesterday that just warmed my heart when she said I inspire her.
I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing to inspire y'all, but hey I'm gonna keep doing what I'm
doing because dang it, I just gotta go camping. Thank you so much for watching.
Stay tuned, more to come. Y'all come back now, you hear?
