Nguyen Tran Thoi Trung Dao said that among all the institutions today including the minds of all people from the time of the poets until now none have been as good as those from America
Du Fu also known as Zimei was born in 712 but his native place is unclear historical records only mention that the poet was born in a small village in Lushang County Hainan Province and later Du Fu considered himself a native of the capital Chang'an
Born into a noble family the poet received traditional Chinese education from a young age to aid his advancement in the bureaucratic career later on
At the age of twenty Du Fu left his hometown to travel through the regions that are now Jiangsu Zhejiang Shandong and Hebei and he traveled along the river returning to Luoyang at the age of thirty
He had the opportunity to befriend Li Bai and the friendship between Du Fu and Li Bai is a historical anecdote both achieved great accomplishments in poetry and were later called "Li and Du" by later generations
That year Du Fu 33 years old became friends with Li Bai
Just as Li saw his entire youthful aspirations in Dou and just as Li also foresaw that the young man he had nurtured would soon find himself helpless against the ways of the world as he himself had
I have a special affection for Do and also feel compassion for him as we are 11 years apart in age due to his illness but we share the same interests
As if they had known each other for a thousand lifetimes they formed a deep friendship one of the most unusual friendships in history
Du Fu went to Chang'an at the age of 35 because the corrupt officials prevented him from taking the imperial exams and his life began to fall into disorder
Living in poverty in Chang'an for ten years until he was 44 he finally received a very low-ranking official position
Before assuming his post Du Fu returned home to visit his family and on the way he was deeply moved by the suffering of the people
After moving to the new house the young son died of starvation
In a state of emotional turmoil he composed the famous lines "the gate of shame and disgrace the bones of the dead on the road " followed by "the cruel chaos "
Du Fu was captured by the rebel forces During this historical period he witnessed the tragic situation his tears flowing silently
Then Du Fu risked his life to escape from Chang'an
After enduring hardships he finally met Emperor Xizong Xizong was moved by Du Fu's sincere heart and loyalty
He was given an official post to ensure the king did not make mistakes called "tạ thật di " which eventually gave him the opportunity to implement his ideals
But he had not been in office long before he was sent to the West with the title of chief advisor managing local political affairs
Because of his disappointment with the court Du Fu resigned from his post and left
He wandered to the Huanghua Stream in the capital city of Zengchuan province built a thatched hut which is called the Du Fu Thatched Hut
When Du Fu was staying at the thatched cottage most of it was due to the help of his brother Yan Wu who was serving as the governor of Chengdu
Sometimes he would kiss the medicine bottle on the day of the prescription and without wiping the severe illness passed away
Du Fu's life in the capital had no place for imagination so he led his entire family eastward
Phiêu arrived in Quy Chau now Fengjie County Zunyi Province
After being dismissed to his hometown in Luoyang he took a boat to leave Quizhou
Piao Ba left the region hoping to find help to return home
As Du Fu passed through Hành Sơn he encountered a major flood that lasted more than ten days with no food to eat
The local authorities there gave him meat and white wine
Du Fu died that night from drinking too much alcohol as he had overindulged in food and drink
But according to historical records Du Fu was actually suffering from poverty illness and a difficult life
Finally the disease killed them on the ship at the age of five
Leaving behind more than a thousand poems the name of the Great Master is not only known for his poetic talent
Later generations remember him for his lofty thoughts and moral integrity which were never worn down by the passage of time and suffering
That is why later generations have not hesitated to praise him and have regarded the poet as the holy master of poetry
However Du Fu's life was not as glorious as his poetic works
This talented person had to endure poverty during their lifetime and also could not escape illness even after passing away
It was a life full of ups and downs with the lows far outnumbering the highs
Yet amid the chaos and suffering of the war-torn land Du Fu always nurtured a deep desire rooted in his compassionate heart for the people's peaceful and prosperous life
His poetic legacy remains a towering tree casting a wide shadow over all of China and future generations
