Learn how to travel continuously → https://www.travelcontinuously.com/ Last week I flew to Spain to see my Mum after 4 months of lockdown in the UK. We decided to escape the beaches and the crowds and have a more 'socially distanced' holiday in the Sierra Espuna National Park.
The UK government has just announced a U-turn on the 14 day quarantine air bridge with Spain. Meaning that now, anyone returning from Spain will have to spend 14 days in self-isolation. I'm able to work online so decided to stay in Europe rather than heading back to UK in the next month.

Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon. That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how I travel the world continuously.
if you made it this far then let me know in the comments below!
Okay and welcome to Spain. Some of you would have seen in the previous video that I flew across here
to come and see my mum who has spent the whole of lockdown here while I've been back in the UK with
the other side of my family. It's just changed this week so before I was able to fly here and
then I would be able to fly back no problems and then the UK government announced out of nowhere
that they're now doing the two-week quarantine so if I fly back now I'll be back within the
quarantine so I'm staying here and instead I'm gonna enjoy this time with my mum and then decide
what's happening after that. I don't know yet but for now I'm here. One cool thing we did get to do
though which was completely even though like Spain's kind of still coming out of lockdown
everyone's wearing masks but for the most part everything is open and people are getting back
to normal we did manage to do something that is a little bit abnormal because I'm gonna obviously
you're gonna see in the rest of this video but just to kind of frame it for you my mum's been
a little bit anxious about coming out of lockdown as a lot of people have so I decided rather than
going to the crowded beaches with all the other tourists that were coming here we'd go somewhere
a bit more out in nature do some camping and get up into the hills and have a more socially distanced
type holiday so that's what you're going to see next hope you enjoy and yeah that's it I'm in Spain
thanks for watching that's the end of the video enjoy good morning welcome back to Spain
where are we heading? We're going up to the Aspuna, the mountains in southern Spain
yeah there's a national park called Sierra Aspuna and we're going there to go camping for two days
we are so excited it was my mum's birthday a couple days ago so for that and for like her
kind of birthday weekend we are going to a log cabin in the national park there's going to be
some good places to hike there I kind of thought it would be a nice place to go for a bit of a
break that's not surrounded by people you're not in crowds you can do the whole distance thing
and still get to see a place I've never been before. Sound good? Yeah it sounds fantastic!
So exciting! You've been here for like years right? You've never been up here? I've never been up here
oh listen to those cicadas and this is our cabin it's not bad
yeah honestly I like it and to get out somewhere like this and just be able to walk around the
hills and be a bit more nature and be free to walk around do what you want
that's exactly what I want right now
we've come for two days of camping and mum's bought that many tins
oh well come on there's no thing nothing up here so it's the right thing to do
yeah it's nice though a little cabin I like it do you want the bottom or top? Bottom
I don't think my legs are leaving the pit that's fine actually I was watching you in the pit
save the planet so for a bit of context we were originally thinking about doing the Camino
in the north of Spain which is this really long walk and you get thousands of people doing it
normally you stay in hostels and you just walk together and then party together in the evening
but obviously because of this because the situation we're in that might not be the best
thing to do right now and my mum wasn't completely comfortable with it no I just felt maybe socially
I was being a bit irresponsible and my anxiety was quite low about traveling on a plane and
a coach and walking in many many different places so we've decided to change the plan
yeah so this is our Camino instead I'm going to do a bit of a walk around here instead
another time another day I'll do the Camino in the north and for now we're going to walk around
we've found our first wildlife here you see the mantis
David Bellamy? Who's that? That's who you were trying to do wasn't it? David Attenborough?
No David Bellamy he's the guy that does a lot of the animals as well and he goes
oh I'm going to tell you about the animals. I was going for David Attenborough
I guess that shows it wasn't very good then
I'll show you later I talked about the animals and the birds in the trees
it's generational difference though and he's actually he's exactly the same
when he was found. He's taking me down to the spider city and you see the spider web here the hole
it's a funnel oh yeah oh there he is we definitely didn't go the way we were trying to go but we have
found another viewpoint so Swings and Roundabouts which is English for when some you lose some
we got somewhere found a viewpoint even if it's not the right one good hike
yeah it's like a mystery tour yeah happy we're not doing eight hours of that every day I think so
I think an hour of this is more than enough in this intense heat
yeah yeah it is the end of July so it's like I think it's 35 today or something
we waited until it's like 5 p.m so we waited until it was a bit cooler but it's still hot
out for another quick hike this morning we've actually found a much better path this time
around this is the Transmercia hiking route we just found using an app a way better way of doing
and just walk in for a couple of hours do this no masks when you're doing exercise by the way
which is good right now which is why would you need a mask being out in the middle of the woods like
this what do you think there's lasers down there yeah wow this is proper outdoor stuff
we are going to the top we won't stop until we stop nice double rhyme
we were looking for a viewpoint for this lake and definitely went the wrong way it's very
difficult to drive up here but mum did very well driving when we got here yeah sometimes
you've got to work hard for things you want it's true good work yeah this is definitely worth it
look at this view and it looks like hardly anyone comes here there's nothing really set up
there's no like cafe or observation point or anything just a dirt road to get up to this
why do you think no one comes here because the track is empty it's like a one of those wacky
racist races and no one would go up apart from your mum okay so that's why it's like this is
we're just about to leave now it's been a solid two nights here in camping sierra espuna like i
said at the beginning never been here before my mum's lived in spain for years now i've never
been here but we decided it would be a good place to come to in what we can call the current climate
like my mom's been a little bit anxious about being around people again that's i guess a lot
of people have because you know you've been on lockdown it's been so strict for a while
so to be out in the open air like this and just go hiking and be in nature seemed like the perfect
antidote to that what do you reckon mum it's been a good couple days it's been a fantastic few days
able to take our masks off because we're exercising and just um beautiful scenery
yeah and like it's kind of nicer being away from the beaches and away from people yeah because i
think there's still a level of anxiety i think um even when you're walking down the street you're
trying to avoid people so being in that in such an open space is just great because you don't
even have to think about it and that's you know and that's a bit of a gift at the moment yeah
yeah it has been cool it's been great to be out here it's been a new place for both of us
some good camping you know good mum and son time it's always important we're calling it
camping but we're in a cabin but that's all good and we had beans that's that's what you need to
make it camping uh we're gonna finish now because we're gonna drive back and i've still got some
more videos coming from here and from wherever else i head to next after spain so see you then
thanks again for watching see you in the next one you need to say like to like and subscribe
yeah you need to say like it's what youtubers do so you say remember to like and subscribe
oh okay remember next time i'll say it now yeah oh you have to remember to like
and subscribe and ring that bell ring that bell push that button
there you go
