Learn how to travel continuously → https://www.travelcontinuously.com/ We had 3 days to explore the Munduk area in the North of Bali, while staying at Sanak Retreat. This area feels untouched and like a more authentic Bali, completely different to some of the places in the south.
Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon. That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how I travel the world continuously.
Okay this is dark. Give me two seconds. That's better.
Good morning and welcome back to Bali. We're in the north right now in a place called Munduk
and we're staying right now at Sanak Retreat. This is what you can see behind me
but to show you guys a little bit better cue some b-roll.
Yeah we have three days here and we are exploring this whole area
and to be honest it's a part of Bali that I haven't really been to before and a part that
most people don't end up staying in. So that's why we wanted to come here.
Oh this this light is all over the place. Turn around. Yeah that's why we wanted to come here
explore and show you what you can do in Bali that most people won't do and is in this area.
Ready to get exploring? Let's go.
Just a 10-minute drive and now we're at our first stop which is, I'm not going to say this right,
Waterfall Banyawala. And yeah I've never heard of this until this morning actually. We sort of
came here without much of a plan but we got told by the hotel manager this is a great waterfall
to visit so we're here. All right 200 meters let's go. Well guys what's this? I've literally
never seen this before. This is cool this is the path to get down look you have to kind of walk
through the waterfall. Wow this is actually beautiful. For a waterfall that I didn't know
anything about and for it to be this empty. Yeah it's pretty crazy this this is awesome.
There's a really famous one in Ubud called Tengganungan and everyone goes there and it's
packed like so many tourists everywhere. This is empty. There's two other people here
and it looks like that.
There's also a second waterfall down here which might be less impressive but you know
more bang for your buck. Yeah look one, two, three, four, five.
Made a friend. Quick stop for a coffee with this view. So this whole area is set next to the twin lakes
and I've actually been here a few times mainly driving through because it connects you
to the north and where Betugar Lake is with the old famous Balinese temple and also where
the ghost palace is it's all around this area but I haven't stayed in this area before.
By the way that view is nice. This is the road that's why there's background noise. Anyway we're
gonna head on now to go do the next thing. Next waterfall coming up. It also says do not bring
a motorcycle so we've left it over there. Can you hear that noise? It sounds like construction or
someone with a drill but I think it's cicadas or crickets making that noise.
I love that when something completely throws you like off balance when you're like oh wow
I'm actually in the jungle and that was one of those things. Waterfall number two of the day.
What's nice about these ones so far anyway is that we are mostly the only people here.
Some of the other waterfalls you go to closer to Ubud are really busy and these are completely empty.
Check it out you've got this here and then there's actually a cafe here.
That's cool. It's kind of a shame actually that we just had coffees
because I mean we only ate like a couple of hours ago otherwise that would be a good spot for lunch.
Also side note because I know some of you guys care about this this waterfall is free. A lot
of them in Bali even the one this morning has an entrance fee this one doesn't. Ah so you have
two sides and that's the one I just said about so we are going to go there. Front seat view for this.
Wow guys I don't know if you can see this we decided to come here just because why not and
we're getting a tea but like as we came in five minutes it's now completely changed the sky is
grey and it's going to rain so we're definitely getting caught in the rain down here. This is
actually so nice I've got this thing and then look at that look at that fog so I got this one
the Bajigur hot coconut sugar with red ginger cinnamon lemongrass and coconut. We've been down
here max 10 minutes and it's completely changed. Again what's really cool is look we are the only
ones besides the owner in this place this is cool this is unexpectedly cool. All right trying to
find our way back to the road now. Here we go. By the way we just climbed up the hill there and that was pretty hard
not gonna lie so some of you will know I'm doing a marathon in a couple months on the Great Wall
of China which will be a lot tougher than that. I'm going to give you a proper update in the next
video by the way about how the training's going and everything. Wow all right this is our bike
um let's try and get through this cloud. Oh look at this guys this is the sunset tonight.
Good morning. Good morning. Not bad eh? No. Proper spread look at this latte and of course the view.
All right good morning guys welcome back to day two of this beautiful place in the middle of
You would have seen the sunset just now from yesterday and that was
insane completely beautiful. I'm waking up here surrounded by all the rice fields with an amazing
breakfast like we would be happy to just stay here I think and it's like it would be the perfect place
just to chill for a few days and not explore but I started this video by saying we're going to
explore the area and we're going to continue with that but if you guys did come here to
Sannak retreat then you'll see what I mean like it would be the perfect place just to lounge by
the pool and do nothing. We however are about to head out we're going to drive up to the coast
right now I think it's only about a 20 minute drive from here and you'll be on the northern
point of Bali so that's the plan and then we're just going to take it from there.
All right well we came down to the beach but I'm not sure you could call it that I think
this is a classic case of when something looks better from the sky than it does on the ground
because I just took the drone up and it looked really nice but here there's there's not a lot
going on. We're actually going to head back I think I said this morning that like we were
planning to explore Munduk well that would have been a few seconds ago in this but instead we're
going to go back and make the most of the hotel and really just spend the day there so I'm going
to fast forward to there and see you guys in a sec.
This is actually beautiful the sunset with an infinity pool over the rice fields this is actually
this is exactly what I'd want from Bali and there's no one else here. I've said that a few
times in this video already. Okay guys it's our final morning here and unfortunately it's time to
leave. Are you ready to go? We started off this video saying we're going to explore loads but
it's actually just been treating this as our retreat treating this like as as it's meant to
be I guess we've just been chilling here in this spot with that sort of view and yeah it's been
great it's been a great few days but now we have to drive back all the way back down to Ubud which
is where we're staying right now. It should be like a three-hour drive. I'm going to leave you here
because I don't think that's that interesting to watch us driving for three hours and yeah I'll
just say again thank you to Sanak Retreat and thank you to Secret Retreat. They have properties
like this all over Asia hidden properties that maybe you wouldn't think about going to so go
check them out because they have really amazing places but for now I'll just say again thank you
for watching and this is my life.
