Learn how to travel continuously → https://www.travelcontinuously.com/ It's our first day in Tokyo and we decided to get out and explore it as much as possible. We went from Ueno Park to Ameyoko Market and then Nakamise Shopping street before finally ending up at the Akihabara arcades! (a bucket list experience for me).
Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon. That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how to travel the world continuously.
Good morning, we are back on the train and on the way to Tokyo.
Welcome to Tokyo.
This is our first time coming here,
even though we've been a week in Japan already.
We sort of skipped it at first and decided to do it at the end.
So, we're now in Tokyo.
We are pretty much almost at our hotel.
It was really easy to transfer from Tokyo Station.
We just got on the subway and now we're staying near Minamisenjo.
I think that's the name of the station.
It should just be about a 10-minute walk down to our hotel.
We're going to dump our bags again and pretty much head straight out.
Okay, this is us.
This is what £45 a night gets you.
Not bad.
Moved in.
Actually, it's not so bad.
It's the same sort of thing we were sleeping on yesterday,
just the floor where you make your own bed.
They've given us a twin, which seems the case here in Japan.
A lot of the time you get twins, but we're just obviously pushing together.
Right, we are going straight out again, I think.
We're just dumping our bags.
It was nice that we could check in,
because actually check-in is usually at 4 or 5,
but we're going to check in early, dump our bags, and head back out.
We've got three and a half days here in Tokyo.
So, Tokyo is huge.
There's 38 million people.
It's absolutely giant,
but we're going to try and see as much as we can in three days.
So many trains in my vlogs.
Ueno Station.
And the good thing is, the JR Pass still works here,
and you can get around a lot of Tokyo just using that.
We actually only have a day left,
because we've got the week-long pass, and that runs out tomorrow,
so we're trying to get a bit of use out of it today.
I feel like a lot of these vlogs have been transport,
but that's because we try to pack in so much.
In a week, in Japan, we've been all over.
But now, we're in Tokyo, we're still going to be doing the same.
This is very Tokyo.
I was going to say the same.
Ooh, now we're in Tokyo.
Oh my god, I already love it.
All these colours.
This is proper Tokyo now,
and we're about to go down this famous walking street.
Amitoya? Amitoya?
I really can't say it.
But yeah, there's a shopping street here
that we coincidentally came out on.
I think this is it.
Happy?
Very happy.
Look how many things there are here.
What did you get?
Interesting.
Anything inside?
It's basically like a focaccia.
Nothing too spicy.
Okay, we're here, so we also decided to get some dim sum-looking things.
I love that we get to eat on the side of the road like this.
It's quite nice though.
There's like little stop-offs the whole way.
Different stops.
Ah, here we go.
Thank you very much.
Oh yeah, black dumplings.
Oh yeah.
Still not sure if this is the correct way to eat it.
I think this is what I was shown.
You put it in a spoon, add the chilli,
then poke it to get some of the sauce out,
and then eat it like that.
But you guys tell me if I'm wrong.
Wow, it's really good.
Really good.
I agree with this.
Yeah.
And this chilli sauce.
Yeah.
They also have Fantomelon.
Can't say I've ever tried Fantomelon before.
But I will be in the future.
Another fun fact.
Japan has the most McDonald's in a country outside USA.
I found that interesting.
We're not going in right now.
But because I have Fantomelon.
We've just decided to walk from that area to this area.
No, what is it called?
Asakusa.
We're now in Asakusa area,
which is about a two and a half kilometre walk from where we were.
But I think that's a good way of seeing the city.
Just walk through and get a chance to see it.
Now we're going to Asakusa area just before the sunset.
So we're going to see what we can see now.
What a cool street.
We just stumbled across it.
And it's got Tokyo Sky Tower just behind.
We're here just as the sun is setting as well.
So all the lights are starting to come on.
This feels very cool.
Right behind me is Nakamise shopping street.
But we got here quite at the end.
So quite a lot of them are closing already.
But it does look very cool.
It's just another shopping street, to be honest.
We could walk down and look at all of it.
But I don't think that's what we're going to do right now.
Because we got here a bit late anyway.
But that's what this is.
We just came up to the top of the tourist information building.
And on the rooftop, on the 8th floor,
there's a free viewpoint over Tokyo.
If you just get up here, you can come see it for free.
And it gives you a really epic view across the city.
We're doing a lot of walking today.
So we're going to walk down to this other place that we want to visit.
It's actually called Popeye's Beer Club.
And my dad has done most of the research for this trip.
And he said that it will be cool.
So we're going to go have a look.
But we need to walk down the river.
Rather than get public transport, we're going to walk down the river.
And it will be about a 25-minute walk.
70 beers on tap.
We just popped into this place.
They have 70 different beers on tap.
That's what we're going to try now.
Obviously not 70. We're going to choose one.
And you also get a free plate of food for each beer.
Cheers.
To Tokyo.
Say it again.
I'll put it in the vlog.
It's perfect timing.
Is that your English accent?
It's a perfect timing, my dear.
It's good on the train, though.
What happens in the electric town?
Let's find out.
To finish up today, we've come to Akihabara, which is the electric city.
And all over this area of the city, there are just loads of video games, slot machines.
And we're going to try and try a few.
So this is the whole building.
And then they just have different arcades on every level.
Oh, yeah. That'll be me. Tekken 7.
This is so cute.
Kawaii.
This is so cute.
Street Fighter 4.
Tekken.
I'm definitely going to play some Tekken.
I love Tekken.
Might not be playing each other. I'm not sure.
This is what they did to me, too.
Check it out. They have loads of Pokemon claw machines as well.
Flareon.
We've got Ditto over here.
Gengar.
Pikachu.
Poliwag.
Mew.
Let's try this one.
You want to try and get Mew?
This one?
You want that one?
It's going to be hard to get, isn't it?
I want this one!
So you hold it down, and when you let go is when it stops going horizontally.
And then you do the same for that one.
You hold it down, and then when you let go is when it's going to drop.
I think I messed up.
I should have gone further.
And what happens now?
Yeah, there's no way.
I can't even lift it up.
He's got mad skills.
You're on your own.
Doing 3D shooting right now.
It's Shoot-a-door, I think.
I just died and my dad's still alive.
And this one is to drive the train around Tokyo.
This is awesome. Bomberman. Street Fighter 2.
Ah, Metal Slug.
This is the showdown.
Oh my god, Bomberman!
Street Fighter 2!
Don't even need two hands.
Alright, well of course, I won.
But, I don't have a gun.
That's not true!
What a day.
First day in Tokyo down.
And we just finished it doing something I've always wanted to do.
Playing the arcades in Tokyo.
We're still here for another few more days.
So, we've still got loads more to come up from Tokyo.
But for now, thank you for watching.
And this is my life.
