Janelle Burrell holds the Warren C. Giles trophy, which belongs to reigning NL champion Phillies!
Baseball is back at the bank in a few hours, fans will file into Citizens Bank Park to cheer on the reigning National League champion, Philadelphia Phillies.
Janelle's there giving us a sneak peek at the fun that's in store.
Hey, Janelle.
Hey, Jim. Good morning to you.
So excited to be here right on the field and so excited to be holding this.
Take a look at this. I have the actual 2022 National League Championship trophy for our Philadelphia Phillies right here in my hand.
Jim, I can't believe they're letting me hold this.
This is really, really cool to have this and certainly well-deserved.
We're hoping that they win another one of these trophies here this season as well.
But a lot of activities here ahead at the ballpark, a lot of new features as well, including, can you see that huge video board behind me?
77% larger than the video board that was previously here.
This is a huge attraction that fans will be able to see here later on the field today.
And of course, we had that postponement because of the rain yesterday.
The tarp's still on the field to see that huge puddle on it, but they'll be clearing that off.
It's a go for this afternoon.
So if you are planning on coming out to the ballpark, here is what you can expect today.
Starting at 10 o'clock this morning, the Phillies team store, it opens so you can get all of that great merchandise.
12.35, the gates will be opening to the ballpark.
Opening ceremonies kicking off at 2.15.
And then about 20 minutes later, the team, they'll be introduced here right on the field.
2.47, the 2022 National League Champions pennant, that will be raised.
And first pitch, what we've all been waiting for for this home opener, is at 3.05.
And ahead of all of that, a lot of activities for fans as well, including a block party that's happening inside of Third Base Plaza.
Inside of First Base Plaza, you can actually take a picture with this National League Championship trophy.
So it's a great photo opportunity for all of you fans.
And then outside of the Third Base Gate, there's going to be some 3D chalk art.
Lots to celebrate.
Really exciting.
And this is also really neat.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, he's showing some love to the Phillies.
He led the Eagles, of course, to the Super Bowl just a couple of months ago.
And now he'll be tossing out the ceremonial first pitch, bringing some energy here to Citizens Bank Park today.
So back out here on the field, Jim, you think they'll let me take this home with me?
What do you think?
I'm glad you're holding it.
I'm glad you're holding it because you know how clumsy I am.
I would drop it and you break it, you buy it.
Our crew out here, Tommy G and Kelly, they've been so helpful today.
And Kelly's keeping a close eye on me.
She's like, make sure it doesn't fall.
Not on our watch.
I'm going to cradle it right here in my arms.
Very good.
Thank you, my friend.
We'll check in.
It's going to be really great out here this afternoon.
Looking forward to the fans.
We'll check in with you in a little bit.
Thanks so much.
