Learn how to travel continuously → https://www.travelcontinuously.com/ Learn More About The Tagbanua People - http://bit.ly/2X2drlC We were lucky enough to be the first tourists to ever visit this new beach in Coron Palawan, known as Isla Cueva. The island was untouched and we even got to go on a hike to a secret cave with the local Tagbanwa people.
Thanks to Red Carabao and SUP Central Tours for arranging this trip!
Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon. That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how to travel the world continuously.
Hey this is Todd from the YouTube channel Todd Hata and you're watching the life of
Jord and this is my life.
Good morning and welcome back to Coron. Today we're about to go out on another island hopping
trip but today's also a little bit different to the normal island hopping you do. We're heading
to a few new places, one of which I've been told we're going to be the first people seeing.
I won't introduce it too much, we're just going to get going and then you'll see today.
As you are probably familiar most people join what we call the alphabet tours.
So we're just about to start the tour with Camp Carabao and Stand Up Central. We just had a
briefing and they've told us the places we're going are way more remote, most people don't go there
and it's a bit of more of a unique experience so I'm really looking forward to this one.
Ready to go team?
Anton, you're vlogging today? Yes, this is an exciting, you know, one of the first
you know different things to do in Coron. Sure, Anton's been all over the Philippines for the
10 years and has never been here? Yeah, never been, and doing the SUP. We love Stand Up Paddle,
we've done it all in Manila but they say this is the best Stand Up Paddle because you go from
one island to another. Nice, and Anton will also have it on his YouTube channel so go check it out.
So while I say that, like everyone basically is vlogging today. Everyone here has been learning
bits about vlogging and YouTube and everything and now we're all going to be vlogging today.
So I'm going to put a full list of everyone's channels underneath and go out, go and check
them out, go leave a comment, go see their version of today because although we're doing the same
thing it'll be completely different depending on the person's perspective and personality,
so go have a look at what they're creating too. So you're now ready to take off your life vest.
Okay so we're just arriving to Isla Cueva, the first stop. This is the private beach and we're
hiking up to this cave.
This is Isla Cueva beach and we've just been told this isn't even open to the public yet.
We've got a very special chance to come here first. It's a private beach that has just been,
we've just been allowed to use by the Tagpanua people. It will open to the public but we are
the very first people that are getting to use it and show it off which is incredibly cool and
exciting. There's this beach all the way along here which is sort of set into the rocks but
there's also a cave up the top that we're going to do a 45 minute hike to. This is cool.
Hello. You like it? We're pretty much the first people on here. Yeah it's just crazy.
I've just been saying that I think it's the first time I've ever been to a place where
no tourists have been before. Yeah I know they haven't even finished it yet and we're here.
It's a weird feeling.
Look at this, the beach is completely empty besides us. There's no sounds around.
Well just the cockerel but no people. We're the only ones here and the beach feels so untouched.
I love this.
Olivia's found a tree to climb.
I'm sorry, stay there. Can you take a photo of me just like lounging on it?
She's gonna live up there now. Okay fair enough.
Nice. All right now you need to try and get down.
I know it's quite hard but you can just slip a bit it's not as painful.
There you go, you can just jump.
The first group will go up and we'll give you about 15 minutes apart just so that you know we
have some distance between and I'm going to introduce you guys to our guides. These are the
first boys of Coron Island. This is Philbin and Jonas and Jerison. Jerison lives on this beach
We're now starting a 45 minute walk up which apparently was only cleared a month ago. There's
a bit of a trek up to the cave at the top but it's kind of sketchy. They've only just put the
ropes in so we're gonna see how this goes. Yeah it's gonna be tough. I think it's just steep the
way forward. This is proper bush we're going through. This is pretty tough already. They told
us to bring trainers and shoes definitely for this and we were all like nah we'll be fine in flip-flops
but this is very slippy. It's all like proper bush. View's getting better. Okay we've ditched
the flip-flops and gone barefoot. Definitely not easier. I thought it was slightly easier than the
floor. It's like the mountain tapas kind of hike.
The guide's banging out some tunes. We got to a steep bit. This cave is what we've been aiming for
say like another 100 meters. Wow and this is the cave. We get a final rope to pull us in.
Look at that. That's massive. This is it. Some of the guys are up here already. Did you guys just
run up or what? Made it. This is the gang that made it so far. I tell you that was not easy.
I think they understood how difficult it was but it was really cool. The views the whole way up
behind us were really great and now we get this sort of view through the cave looking out into
the ocean. So yeah definitely if you ever get to this island. If you ever get to this island then
I recommend doing it. It's like 45 minutes up and then apparently a bit longer down because
now we're going to have to kind of slip slowly down the hill. Our guides found it very easy.
These guys were straight up. No worries.
Whoa just everything is covered in sweat. Sun cream, sunburn.
Break it down.
What a hero.
Oh yeah. Nice. Look at this too. It's like a sort of crystal formation in here. These guys are
really cool. All right well we made it and now to try and figure out our way down.
It's so steep but I think it's going to take twice as long to get down as we just roll.
Here we go. This is tough but look at this view though.
Oh my god. Wow that was genuinely incredibly tough but we made it to the bottom and completely
deserve this. Look what we've been greeted with. We've got fish, chicken and some jumbo prawns.
This looks amazing. Thank you Michi. You're welcome. Welcome to Isla Cueva.
Mark's made it.
Okay congratulations. Your lunch is waiting. You're um you're a dip in the pool.
Okay so this is a budo plank.
Just reach in yourself, get stuck in and then this is our plate.
Mike's an old hand at this. Got it already. We don't use plates in our house.
After that awesome lunch we're now going stand-up paddleboarding to the next island or to the next
beach. I've never done stand-up paddleboarding before. I have no idea how this is going to go
but I've always wanted to. Let's do this.
Take them off from the trees so they're as fresh as you can get.
Oh yes please. Thank you.
We just arrived at the next beach and we're greeted with these coconuts. Honestly this day
keeps getting better. That's the first time I've tried the stand-up paddleboarding and it was
awesome. Really cool. Like the crystal clear water, falling off, having fun with people. It's a great
day. I just want to say a quick thank you to Camp Carabao which is where we are right now. Red
Carabao for hosting us and Stand Up Central Tours which just gave us this stand-up paddleboarding
experience and this coconut. This is Aldrich. He's running Red Carabao and this is Camp Carabao
but they're working with the Tagbanwa, right? That's correct. The Tagbanwa tribe and I wanted to
ask him why and who they are. Sure the Tagbanwa are some of the earliest inhabitants of the
Philippines and they call Coron Island their home. Unfortunately most of the mass tourism
that's come to Coron has kind of kept them in the shadows so the dances that are performed here
are actually sanctioned by the tribes to showcase a little bit about their culture so that the
world can kind of get to know them some more and realize that Coron Island is their domain,
it's their home and it's not just the lakes and the lagoons but also the people here. Yeah because
I think most people that come and go on the tours don't even realize that there are these tribes
living on these islands. Yes you don't. You know they've kind of like I said kind of left in the
shadows of the growth that Coron has seen but I think it's important that when we come to visit
places we also kind of acknowledge the inhabitants. Thank you, perfect. And also if you do come to
this you can stay in these lovely huts here with this as your wake-up call.
Check it out, this is also Tagbanul coffee which we're about to try.
So Bel, this is from you from the cafe. Thank you so much.
Olivia's gonna love this I think. So everyone else has the sandwiches and you have that.
Olivia's straight in, the first one there on the cheesecake.
Cheesecake on an island, who would have thought?
See because it's not true that you just starve yourself.
It's happened, you just grabbed the whole thing.
This is the life.
This is how we're finishing the day of laying in the hammock from this view.
Unfortunately it's time for us to go. This place is beautiful like all of us want to stay
here much longer but we need to go back before it gets dark.
Apparently the boat needs to get back before it's dark for the coast guard.
So we're going to jump back on the boat and see the sunset from the boat
but yeah the light is amazing, the beach looks awesome
and we're just running around before we now need to swim back to that boat over there.
This is the way to finish.
Such an awesome day, the places we got to go to today most people don't go to.
They go to the normal tours in Coron but they don't get to see all of this
so I'm really glad we got the chance to do that.
Thanks to Subcentral and Camp Carabao for setting it up.
I don't know, you've seen the day, I don't need to say much more than that was freaking amazing.
Thank you for watching and this is my life.
