We travelled to Viseu de Sus to try the Mocănița Steam Train for the first time. As we woke up we realised it was snowing.. you won't believe some of the views! I'd highly recommend this to anyone planning to come to Romania!
So we just woke up, we're about to leave, and this morning it's just started snowing.
It's not perfect. Happy? Yeah.
Good morning! It's snowing! We're in, we're still in the Romanian town Vizeu de Sus and we're doing
the thing that we said in the last videos that would be pretty epic this morning. We were really
hoping that it was going to start snowing. So I'll finally tell you. We are walking towards
the Forestry Railway. How do you say it? Mocanica. Mocanica. And it's basically, well you'll see in
a minute, but it's a big old steam train that's going to go through the hills and the valleys
in the snow and we should get some pretty epic views. Proper snow, huh? Yeah.
So this is the Mocanica steam train, the Mocanica Railway, and as far as I know it's one of the
last few steam trains really running. We get to go on this through the hills and the valleys with
the snow all around us with some epic views. So yeah, I'm really looking forward to this. I had
no idea about it. Olivia told me about it and it looks like it's going to be a pretty unique
experience. It's a proper steam train. They've got loads of logs in there to burn up and we're
going to be chugging along the whole way. Hello. Okay, here we go.
Nice. We have a fireplace on the train. Are you happy?
This is cool. Yeah, it's a very cozy Christmas-y thing to do.
Be in a wooden cabin with a log fire going through the snow on a steam train.
Okay, we're doing ice by something beginning with S. Olivia's stuck on it.
I said station, steam. Something beginning with S.
I said seats. Something beginning with S. Snow. Oh my god.
See you later civilization.
This is cool. You can hear me when we're on the steam train between the carriages.
It's like a James Bond scene. I have to jump up. I'm excited.
It's very cold but it's amazing. It's so cool. It's amazing. I love it. It's one of the bucket
things I wanted to do in Romania.
That's fine. Well, cheers. Narok. 10 a.m. Perfect time for a swig. Yeah. All right. Cheers.
It's like pins. Oh my god. Never again. Never drinking again.
All right, quick stop. It's cold. Quick stop for some coffee and donuts while the train pulls over
and gets more water in the tank, I think. Olivia being nice and getting the shot.
Okay, now do me. Okay.
This fire is making everything amazing. Yeah, it's just nice.
The wood has just caught on fire from the fire.
Look at that. That's just caught on fire.
Okay, crisis averted. Fire put out. Everyone's still alive. No worries.
That particular stretch with all the snow around was awesome. Genuinely stunning scenery.
Now we've just stopped here in the stop off to grab some lunch. I think there's a lot of
meat involved. We'll get some music too.
Not bad. We get a mixed grill for lunch. Yeah, this actually looks pretty good for the middle
of nowhere. I'm going to chow down. It's very cold. There's a couple of trains running today.
from the drone. I have no idea what they look like yet. You would have just seen them. But for
some reason, my phone wasn't connecting to it, so I just flew the whole thing blind just with
the controller. So hopefully it looks all right. I don't know. It's bloody freezing. It is very cold
and we're just waiting for the train to come back now so we can get back on.
Such a cool day. I had no idea about that until Olivia told me and booked it all. She sort of
did it as a bit of a surprise. And yeah, what a cool experience. Doing that in the snow like that
is sort of the perfect build-up to the winter and perfect build-up towards Christmas. The whole day,
the whole thing, including all the food, was just 100 lei, which is about 20 pounds, 25 euros. And I
think this area and this activity will probably get more popular in the future, but I would
highly recommend it because that was a really cool experience. Now we need to head back towards
Cluj. If you had your own car, you could drive back and it would be quicker, but because we don't,
we need to go and catch the last bus of the day, which is 5pm. We've got plenty of time.
It's about 3pm now, so I'm going to grab a coffee and then jump on the bus.
We are just waiting for the bus back to Cluj. It's like four hours, I think, so I'll just finish the
video here. Another really awesome day. Let me know what you thought in the comments below. Hopefully
the drone shots turned out okay. If you enjoyed it, please like and subscribe, but for now,
thank you for watching and this is my life.
