Good morning and welcome back to Qatar.
I am in the middle of the desert and I have no idea why yet.
We've just driven out for about an hour into the middle of nowhere and I'm about to find
out why.
That is really very cool actually.
There's some ancient carvings in the rocks that could be around 3,000 years old and it
hasn't been turned into a tourist attraction or anything yet.
It's just out here in the middle of the desert and the tourism authority knew about it.
So we just got to come out here and see it and that's a thing that probably most people
have never seen.
So that's very cool.
Morning.
So how are we doing guys?
Good.
It's too warm.
Good.
We cannot stand maybe 10 minutes outside.
Yeah.
We have to live in this car.
Terrible car.
It's nice in here but literally being outside for about 10 minutes maybe and you are sweating
so much.
It's like 45 outside and it's 9am.
I think that we will stay all day in the desert today.
That's a tough life.
We've just pulled up to our second little stop and it's Dubra Fort.
So what's interesting is this whole area used to be a town or like an ancient city
and nowadays there's absolutely nothing left.
People came and settled here and turned it into a town with a big fortification, a version
of this fort but that all got abandoned and now that's been completely weathered away
and there's nothing left here.
This has been restored but besides that there's not much.
How are you feeling?
I might die sooner than is to be expected.
It's 108 degrees, 30% humidity.
I'm dripping out of everything.
We were the smart ones that wore black in the desert.
Yeah.
Check it out, I just spied some camels.
So I'm going to say hi.
How's it going?
See these guys have it right, just stay in the shade, chill out.
Camel's life.
Hey buddy, how are you doing?
Good camel.
Where do they like to be touched?
Do you like this bit?
Bit there.
Completely random experience, not something that was set up by the tourism guys here.
We just saw camels so we went and said hi.
So they were just chilling underneath that tree there.
Yeah, nice.
No, this is it.
So this was the whole city and now it's just been weathered away, right?
Yeah.
So currently UNESCO World Heritage Site is here.
So they're going to restore it?
Yeah.
It's an archaeological dig at the moment.
That's cool.
So watch this space, one day come back.
We've switched across to the 4x4 to get to the next spot because the BMWs can't make it this far.
So we're going off road.
Let's do this.
Alright, so we've come here to check out this abandoned village.
And of course, me being me, I ran straight up an abandoned building.
I need to get down and join the crew.
Okay, so there's an abandoned and eroded mosque here with one left standing minaret.
So I'm doing the really smart thing of climbing up to the top of it.
But we've got to go one at a time.
This is the view of what was once a village.
Yeah, this has been abandoned for around 50 years.
And it's just left into ruin.
But, you know me, I've been to a few abandoned places before.
This is pretty cool to see.
Abdullah, why was it abandoned?
Because we found a nice walk in Doha and instead to walk with a catapult.
Okay, so there's just no money here.
Fair enough.
First up, we're going to say hi to some more camels.
These camels.
Yeah, sure.
So, what do I do?
Oh, my shorts are tight.
Where?
Here, hold that.
Hold that, thank you.
Come, one sec, one sec, wait.
Ah, I can do this.
Okay.
Ah, the camels are saying hi.
Hi guys, how are you doing?
Pretty good.
Well, this was pretty unexpected.
Just a random camel ride on.
They just keep bunching up.
And my legs are just getting caught between two camels.
It sounds like it should be a phrase, a saying.
Don't get your legs caught between two camels.
Yeah, we're going down in a sec.
One-handed camel descent.
Good night, mate.
Good job, buddy.
Thank you.
Thank you, mate.
Completely didn't expect this.
It's like car surfing.
Everything is moving around.
We'll be in the moment together.
We'll be in the moment forever.
I just jumped into the other car.
Because they're going crazy in here.
Look at that.
Oh, my God.
Right in the back.
And it pretty much feels like you're tipping over.
We are right in the desert right now.
Look at that.
Nothing around except for these two awesome 4x4s
and us going up and down crazy sand dunes.
It's so beautiful.
Cruising through the desert, banging out tunes.
Life's good.
Cheers, Ed.
It's like carpool karaoke.
You're in the desert.
You're a British guy.
Stupid American.
What a crazy end to this last few days.
Car sand duning.
I had no idea we were doing it.
And it's really one of the best things that I've done this year.
I'm really grateful to be here.
And I want to say thank you to Qatar Tourism Authority
and the Mindsports Academy
for bringing me out here.
I hope you enjoyed all of this.
I hope you got a bit of an insight
into what Qatar is like
and what there is to do in and around Doha.
Let me know what you thought
about the last few days in the comments below.
That's it.
I'm flying out really early in the morning
so I'm going to finish it here and say goodbye.
Thank you for watching
and this is my life.
