Bucharest Off The Beaten Path - local's alternative guide

Good morning and welcome back to Bucharest. Today I'm going to show you around the city a little bit. I'm meeting up with a showaround.com local who's going to take me out and explore some areas that I haven't seen yet and some of you that have been watching my channel for a while will know that I've worked with showaround.com in cities all over the world and it's a really cool way to meet a local who knows something about the city that can show me something I haven't seen or wouldn't know unless I had the local knowledge. So I'm going to go downstairs now, meet up with my showaround local and then we're going to head off and explore. So this is Luana my showaround local. Say hi. Hello, I'm Luana, nice to meet you. We're heading to Kemana Park right now. It's a little bit outside the city but apparently there's some cool things to do and see there so that's where we're heading first. Luana just said that this is a park that most foreign people wouldn't really know. If you came to Bucharest you wouldn't really come here. Only really Romanians know about it, right? Yes. So I think that's one of the cool things about showaround because the only reason I'm getting to go now is because Luana can take me. Of course. So we've just arrived to Kemana Park and it's like meant to be a miniature version of Danube Delta, right? That's what you told me. Yes, a mini copy of Danube Delta. Which is meant to be a beautiful place in Romania. It's definitely somewhere I'm gonna check out in future. This, I'm told, is equally as beautiful. As a side note by the way, it is ridiculously hot today. It's 37 degrees which is crazy. And we are not inside the city. It's late. Maybe there are 40 there. Yeah, it's madness. Anyway, gonna explore. So I just took the drone up to get a bit of an aerial view of it and I think some of the shots were insane. You guys would have just seen them. But Luana was getting a little bit stressed. Yes. It's the first time you've seen a drone, right? So close. Yeah, sure. And didn't want to fly it. No, no, no. Hello, buddy. How are you doing, mate? Okay, bye. Right, that was pretty cool. Somewhere I'd never heard of before and somewhere I wouldn't know coming as a tourist without Luana's guidance. Yes. Now we're gonna head back to Bucharest and go find somewhere else new. We're back in Bucharest now and to be honest, one of my favourite things about Bucharest so far has been the rooftop bars that I've visited. And so Luana's showing me a new rooftop bar that I haven't been to yet. Yes, upstairs rooftop. Upstairs rooftop, right? Yes. Okay, it should just be along this street. It's near Victory Square. We're gonna head up to the top now and check it out. We just arrived to the pretty cool rooftop bar, but it turns out we are the only ones here. Every table is reserved, but there's no one here. It gets really popular later and you have to reserve your tables in advance. But I think we're the first ones here and we're literally the only ones in the whole place. Yeah, okay, we got here first. Nice vanilla frappe. Perfect. I'm thinking about making a whole video dedicated to Bucharest's rooftop bars. And so I think I'm gonna have to come back here later to check it out at night and just do a full week long thing of exploring rooftop bars. Sounds terrible, right? You too, I'm gonna say goodbye. From speaking to her, she said she's pretty much organized a different tour every single time and it just depends on what the person wants. So I do think it's a really cool idea. So to finish up today, we've come back to the old town to find one of my favorite things, a rooftop bar. I don't know if you can hear this, but there's the Godfather going on behind me right now. This is just all in all a really cool rooftop bar. It's called Closer to the Moon and I've been here a few times already. Now I've been in Bucharest. It's just the perfect sunset spot. You've got a great view over the city, nice atmosphere, good music and I completely recommend coming here. Thank you, miss. Cheers. There are so many more like this all across the city, but this is probably my favorite so far because you get the sunset, there's nice music and just really good vibes.
