I am always searching for new music, if you would like me to feature and credit one of your tracks - please contact me on Facebook or via email. Thanks!
Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon.
That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how to travel the world continuously
FAQ:
How did you learn to edit? I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. My videos were pretty bad at first but eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? I started off running this video blog while doing freelance web design and video editing to supplement my travelling lifestyle. I now rely solely on this blog to generate revenue through advertising, affiliate links and sponsorship opportunities.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people. ' Where do you live? Right now, I travel the world continuously and so do not have a permanent base or home anywhere. I am not sure how long this is going to be the situation but right now I just want to keep travelling.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
Good morning!
How are we all?
Welcome to 2017.
I have a lot to say, I haven't really filmed in the last two weeks at all, as you guys
know I had a bit of a break from it and that means I've probably got a lot to say in this
video.
I have, I filmed a little bit, I filmed over Christmas but I didn't do any vlogging or
any talking so I have some highlights to show you that, some of them you might enjoy.
First of all, on Christmas Eve, this happened.
Good morning.
It's Christmas Eve and I'm about to give my stepsister a bit of a surprise.
Do you remember back in YouTube NextUp, I met another YouTuber called Lucy Moon?
My stepsister follows her a lot so I've arranged for her to Skype with Lucy tonight so I'm
going to do that now.
I'm keeping my voice down because she doesn't know yet.
There's some scenes coming up.
Do you want to have a bath?
Lily, nice to meet you Lily.
How did you sleep last night?
Honestly, Millie did her first gig ever yesterday.
We never heard her sing but she did her first gig in front of 100 people and it was amazing.
No way, that's so cool.
You shouldn't worry, we'll be down in bed.
Merry Christmas Lucy.
Merry Christmas as well.
Have an amazing time.
Bye.
Well done for being so talkative Millie.
It took a while.
It's a bit overwhelming isn't it?
And yeah, that was a complete surprise to her and I'm glad I managed to set that up
and thank you to Lucy for getting on the Skype call as well, that was really cool.
The next day was Christmas day so we just had presents, played around with the virtual
reality gear VR, ate a lot of food and went Christmas caroling.
In between, I haven't done a lot of filming, took the drone out a little bit, showed it
to some people, went over to Kai's, who you might remember from China.
We're leaving Kai.
Bye Kai.
Bye drone man.
See you somewhere else.
And showed him the drone a bit too.
Oh, I did the Christmas giveaway video, so congratulations to Beth Riley and Dundee
Uwana, I hope I said your name right.
I'm going to get that stuff sent out to you today, so congratulations again.
The watches, I don't believe they've been announced yet, but that'll be announced on
Spinnaker Watches Instagram, so go check that out.
Oh and finally, I spent a few days between Christmas and New Year's editing the overall
best of 2016 video.
I want to thank you all anyway, I want to thank you all just because I wouldn't have
been able to do most of that without you following me and without your support, and a lot of
the stuff in that video was because of this YouTube channel, so yeah, thank you loads.
I hope you enjoyed the video.
I want to say a little bit about that.
So, this isn't a complaint, this is just the way I'm seeing things going right now for
2017.
I put the same video on YouTube and Facebook.
On YouTube, about five days later, it's just over 3,000 views I think, around 3,000 views.
On Facebook, the same video is on 95,000 views.
I have to admit, on Facebook I put a little bit of money behind it, so I promoted that
video for about five pounds, which just means it gets pushed into more people's feeds, but
that sort of difference is kind of crazy, and I'm sort of noticing that Facebook video
is probably overtaking YouTube video in terms of reach.
The advantage of YouTube is that you get paid for it.
Facebook doesn't have any revenue share model, so even if that video gets a million views,
then I wouldn't get any revenue because of that, I wouldn't get any money from it, but
I would get exposure, and that's where Facebook is winning right now.
That brings me to the next point.
A few of you have asked, have I stopped daily vlogging?
I know I said at the beginning of last month that I was planning to daily vlog, and I was
going to do it for a month.
In the middle of that is when YouTube algorithms changed, and I noticed I was getting hardly
any views on a video.
That's not a reason not to do it, like I'm still putting out content, but what I decided
is to put out better edited premium content rather than just trying to pump stuff out
there for you guys.
I know there were a select few, and I thank you loads for finding my stuff and coming
and watching every video, but it just seemed like most of it was getting buried, and I'd
rather take time to create something that I'm really proud of, and only put out stuff
that I'm really proud of that I know you'll enjoy, rather than trying to keep up with
a schedule of putting out every day just to get something out there.
I'd much rather create a better piece of content and take a bit longer to edit.
So I hope you understand that, and that's the way my channel is going to go this year.
Which brings me to plans for 2017.
This is all kind of flowing kind of nicely, but now I think my camera's about to run out
of battery.
Spare batteries for the win.
Plans for 2017.
Honestly, what I'm planning to do is just not release anything until I feel like I've
edited it and made it the best I could.
It might mean there's less of a religious schedule, like I'm not going to make sure
I get a video out every day, or every two days.
I'm going to put out stuff that I'm really proud of and that I think you will want to
see, and I think will help you as well.
In terms of what I'm going to be doing, I'm still going to be travelling.
I'm still going to be going as many places as I can.
I want to go to a lot of new countries this year.
I want to go to places that I've never been before, and places that I haven't shown you
on the vlog before.
I looked through all the footage and I was editing it for 2016, and yeah, I've been to
some amazing and awesome places, but then I kept going back to places I've already been.
I'm sure maybe it felt a little bit repetitive to some of you, and I'd like to really get
to some new places that you haven't seen, and hopefully some places that other travel
vloggers haven't really covered yet as well.
But that's the plan anyway.
Which brings me to my next point.
I need your help.
I have a chance to go to Kerala in India, and the reason I have a chance is because
it's done on voting, and I've already shared this on my Facebook and my Instagram and my
Twitter, so I'm sure some of you have already seen it, but I'm going to say it here as well.
I have five days left in the voting, and at the moment I'm in the top 20 to be in with
a chance to go to Kerala in India on a two-week trip and vlog all about India and put it all
on here so you can see it.
All I need you to do is go and click on the link in the first line of the description
below.
It doesn't cost you anything.
Go through there, click vote, sign in with Facebook, and that's it.
You'll be helping me out massively, and in return I'll go to Kerala, I'll go to India,
and I'll get to create content there for you.
This video could have been about one thing.
It could have been about a Facebook video, it could have been about India, it could have
been about the Christmas Eve thing with Lucy Meehan.
I've kind of just like thrown it all in there together, and I guess that just shows that
I missed the camera, and I really wanted to talk to you.
I'm going to get back on vlogging from now.
I've had a break, and now I'm ready to get going again for 2017.
I can't wait to show you what's in store.
Help me out with the India thing, please, and other than that, thank you for watching,
and this is my life.
