From Thailand to Cambodia, this was the beginning of our epic trip to building a playground in Battambang. It was so great to meet the kids at the school and I can't wait to get started on the playground!!

How old are you?
Nine years old.
I'm twenty-six.
Two-six.
Yeah, I know, it's old.
Good morning.
I haven't done a great deal of filming this morning, it's been in the bus most of the
day.
We are right at the Cambodian border right now, just come from Bangkok, and we're about
to cross over into Cambodia.
There's sixteen of us, so this could be a little bit difficult.
Made it through to Cambodia, everyone's sort of leading their way through now, there's
about half of us through, but all gone pretty smoothly, we're through to the other side.
Let's get this adventure started.
Good morning, again.
We've now arrived to Battambang in Cambodia, it's the morning after, and we spent all day
yesterday and last night getting here, but we've arrived safely, and now we're heading
to the school today, and we're going to start building a playground for the kids, which
is really exciting.
All we've got to do now is jump in a tuk-tuk, and we're going to head there.
So gang, are we ready?
Ready.
Very excited.
How about you, Kelly?
Ready.
We've just arrived to the school, and this is the main reason we're all here.
You can see, just behind me over there, we've got pieces of the playground, and we're going
to be setting up here.
The kids aren't here yet, actually the way it works is they go to a government school
in the morning, but that only runs from 7 until 11 in the morning, and then there's
no more school.
This is an extra school that the kids can come to, and they can come here to learn English,
but they don't have a lot of facilities.
So we've come here to help out, to play with the kids, and set up a playground for them.
So this is one of the classrooms, it's where all the kids are.
It's pretty crazy actually, I've not been to a school like this before, with all the
classrooms just outside in the sort of parking bit.
I guess that's completely alien to me being from England, you wouldn't have a classroom
outside.
We were lucky if we ever got to go outside, because it's so cold.
But yeah, these are all the classrooms, yeah.
Class is now in session.
How are you?
Good, how are you?
Okay, and about playground, I am very happy with it.
All the children, when they see the playground and some equipment, they are very, very happy.
Some children sit on, but I say, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I burn them every day.
I protect it.
So we just had a talk from Kamnat, the Cambodian man who set up this whole place.
And he built all of it himself with the help of a few friends about 10 years ago.
And coming from that, the main thing that they need is funding.
And they need help to keep this place going.
He set it up purely out of the goodness of his heart, just trying to help kids learn
English, so they can have a better future.
Hopefully, we can help out.
I know we're going to try and buy some supplies, we're going to try and give some stuff to
the kids, set up the playground.
And if any of you guys do want to help out as well, and help donate to this school, then
we're going to find a way that you can do that as well.
Me 80.
80?
Zero.
Yeah.
No.
Old.
Me, I'm 26.
26.
How old are you?
10.
How old are you?
Nine.
Nine?
No.
You?
11.
Wow.
11.
What's your name?
My name 11.
Yeah.
So it's like, yeah, it flies around.
Yeah, me too.
They're helping me.
That's right.
So it goes to Auckland.
I look up to you tomorrow.
Say hi.
Hello.
Say bye.
Bye.
So just got the first chance to take the drone up, and all the kids were loving it.
I'm really excited about that, just to show them.
I don't think most kids here have probably seen a drone before, and it's pretty cool.
Now we're going to grab some food.
Everyone's already over there, so I'm going to go grab some lunch.
Hello.
So you're excited.
Whoa.
Wow.
Can you do that again?
Whoa.
See, the playground's not even set up yet, and the kids are so excited to get on it.
It's all in the bubble wrap, and they still really want to play on it.
Oh.
Woo.
Can I see it?
Whoa.
Nice.
As you guys can see, all the kids have arrived now, and the bell was just rung.
So it's class time.
We've just been having a bit of recess.
We've been playing with them.
I don't know.
Just enjoying meeting the kids, and now they're all going into the classrooms.
How old is your class?
Pardon?
Ten.
Nine years old.
Oh, me too.
No, I'm 26.
Two-six.
Yeah, I know, it's old.
What is your name?
Okay, very good, very good.
Thank you.
Man, this is just so cool.
This is exactly the thing I wanted to get involved in.
The kids are just, you can tell they're so happy to be here.
You can tell they're all enjoying learning, and they're all so friendly.
And it's just really nice to be involved with something like this.
I think it's going to be, we're here for the next three or four days.
We're just going to be helping out around here and doing what we can.
Interacting with the kids.
And yeah, really excited about it.
So just spent the last hour or so just hanging around with the kids in the classrooms and playing a little bit.
And yeah, really cool.
I feel, I don't know, lucky that I'm going to be here for the next four days doing this sort of thing.
Anyway, we're about to leave.
I'm not sure exactly where we're going, but hold up for a second and I'll tell you.
Bye-bye, see you tomorrow, man.
Can you say bye?
See you later.
How cool was that?
It was so good, yeah.
The kids are awesome.
They all look like they really want to learn as well.
They're so happy to be here.
They're so enthusiastic.
And that's what we're setting up.
They can play on it until we set it up.
Did you make a few friends there?
Yes, they're so great.
I love hearing what they have to say and the questions they want to ask.
Do you have a boyfriend?
I don't know.
They were all like, there was four girls all whispering to each other, should we ask you?
Do you have a girlfriend?
No.
This morning was so cool.
I'm not sure how we can top it, but we're going to try.
We just got some tuk-tuks to this mountain with a temple on top.
We're going to climb it, get up and see a really good view.
And then there's something else that should be really cool that I want to show you after.
We're running a little bit late, so we're pretty much racing up the mountain to get up there in time.
I'm good.
Just taking a breather here and there.
Well, that walk was absolutely killer.
We're at the top now, and this view is ready to be worth it.
Thank you.
Bye.
I hope that looked cool.
It looked really cool from where I was.
The view around here is pretty stunning.
And we just got the monk to pose with us, which was cool.
Nice place.
That's insane.
All the things you can see coming out are bats.
There's millions of them all flying out at the same time.
We've been stood here for about 15 minutes maybe, and they're still piling out.
Apparently there's millions in there.
It's crazy.
It's mind-blowing.
Honestly, today has been incredible.
Recently, I haven't had many days that have completely blown me away.
Today, everything about it has been amazing.
Finishing up with this is a really cool way to end it.
I'm going to leave it there, because there's nothing left to say.
But yeah, really cool day.
So again, thank you for watching.
Wait, no.
I will say tomorrow we're starting to build the playground.
We're going to spend the whole day building the playground and back at the school.
So that's definitely worth coming back and watching.
But for right now, thank you for watching, and this is my life.
