This is a question that comes up a lot and I wanted to try to answer it as best I can. I've made money in various ways in the past (web design, video editing) and now it's my blog and social media that I make my money from. This is currently how I can afford to travel continuously. Oh and also special thanks to YouTube Thailand for letting me com to the YouTube Nextup Bangkok graduation!! It was awesome to meet a some Thai YouTubers!
I am always searching for new music, if you would like me to feature and credit one of your tracks - please contact me on Facebook or via email. Thanks!
Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon.
That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how to travel the world continuously
FAQ:
How did you learn to edit? I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. My videos were pretty bad at first but eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? I started off running this video blog while doing freelance web design and video editing to supplement my travelling lifestyle. I now rely solely on this blog to generate revenue through advertising, affiliate links and sponsorship opportunities.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people. ' Where do you live? Right now, I travel the world continuously and so do not have a permanent base or home anywhere. I am not sure how long this is going to be the situation but right now I just want to keep travelling.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
Good morning, and welcome back to Bangkok.
I am just heading away from the Khao San area right now, and about to jump on the ferry
into the center.
I'm getting the ferry along the river because it's probably the fastest, cheapest, and coolest
way to get around, but it's dark.
I always do that.
I start talking, and then it gets dark.
But yeah, I'm going to jump on the ferry now, and then speak to you again when we're in
the center.
Look at that, guys, I just got off the boat, and there's that.
I don't know if it's dead.
Looks dead.
Oh, in case you were wondering why I was coming from Khao San when I moved to a room on the
other side of Bangkok a few days ago, it's because when I came back here last night from
Pattaya, I decided to move back to Khao San, and got dropped off there.
The place I was in was okay, it was just kind of far from everything, so I'd rather be closer,
I guess, to stuff that's happening.
I've just come to Central World to find a coffee shop.
I could have done work in my room, but I'd rather do it somewhere busier.
And then I want to talk to you guys about something as well.
It's that time of the year again, so the speciality Christmas drinks are back.
This is a toffee nut crunch coffee.
So I said I came to the coffee shop to do work, and I feel like I say that quite a lot,
like I need to stop now and do some work, but what does work mean for me?
I know a lot of you have asked this, like how do you make money while traveling?
How can you afford to travel?
And so that's what I want to address today, and that's what I want to talk to you about.
Directly how I make money right now that gives me the ability to travel.
So in the past, as I've mentioned before, I used to do web design.
I did some freelance web design while traveling, and that was about a year and a half ago now,
and that's what got me started working online.
When I was doing that, I started creating YouTube videos and my social media, and now
I've changed to making that my full-time income, which might seem difficult to imagine.
How can someone just with a YouTube channel with not that many views compared to the really
big YouTube channels and Instagram make enough money to afford to travel continuously?
And it comes through various ways, to be honest.
There's never, in the last six, seven months, there hasn't been one continuous thing that
I do solely for income, if that makes sense.
Sometimes I've got it through sponsored Instagram posts.
For example, one post I did, I put up a photo of a product and got paid $300 for it, which
is just for one photo.
It was really good.
I sometimes do that with YouTube as well.
I always declare it, but like the work I did on the cruise with Royal Caribbean, that was
a series of sponsored videos, so they paid for the videos, and that was a good bit of
income.
Some things I've done recently, I created a couple of videos for another company.
I just filmed them, and then they edited them, and they paid me for that.
There's been various things that I do on top of just the YouTube ad revenue that enables
me to travel.
I know that doesn't apply to most people, unless you're running a blog, a YouTube channel,
or a social media, Instagram, or if you want to, then that's something you can do.
There's all sorts of ways that you can make money online other than that.
I know people doing web design, web development, graphic design, online teaching, remote or
virtual assistance.
There's so much really.
I could go on forever about how you can make money online, and I've done some of those
things in the past as well, to make little bits of income on websites like Upwork.com,
Freelancer.com, Fiverr.
Yeah, I'll put the links to those in the description below, but they are ways that you can make
little bits of cash online as well.
So today, what does work mean for me?
Right now, I'm just replying to a lot of emails.
That'll probably take me an hour or two to reply to lots of emails that I've got.
Some of it's setting up trips for future that will possibly be sponsored, some of it's replying
to people that have asked for advice, and some of it's other stuff as well.
One thing I'm also doing on top of the YouTube is I'm consulting.
Someone recently approached me and said, I want to learn how to travel the world continuously,
I want to learn how to quit my job and make money online, so I'm consulting for that person.
Which is interesting, something I haven't thought about doing before, but so far it's
been a really good experience.
The most valuable thing I've learned over the past six months is to not limit yourself
to one revenue stream or one income stream.
Like I said, I've got things coming from different areas right now, and that's what's really
helped me.
If I just had one of them each month, then that wouldn't be enough to be able to travel,
for sure.
So if you're thinking about doing it, think about different ways that you can make money.
Unless you're really focused on one thing, and you really enjoy one thing, and you know
you can make money off of it, then do that, why not?
But it just hasn't worked like that for me.
I realise I'm talking pretty quickly right now, but there's so much I could say about
this, and I want to just get it out there.
Other ways that I feel I could make money in the future is through affiliate links.
I think I've spoken about them in the past.
You can drop links into your posts or videos, and if people click through and buy stuff,
then you make money.
I've got some in the description below, links to gear that I use in Amazon.
So Christmas-y.
And if any of you click on them and buy stuff, then that makes me a small percentage of income
as well.
What on earth is going on?
It's a child parade.
Yeah, I'm not sure what that's about.
Anyway, I decided to leave the coffee shop because there's only so much Christmas music
I can take.
I got about two hours of work done, and now I'm going to have a little bit of a walk.
The main thing to remember about what I was saying about working online is there are so
many ways you can do it.
There's so many different ways you could work while traveling.
It's just about finding something that works for you.
I mean, I saw one guy in Barcelona that was traveling Europe by blowing bubbles.
The year is finished, I hope I made the whole round.
All funded by street performing?
Yes, yes.
Awesome.
Just funded by making money with bubbles.
And I think that just goes to show that you can do anything.
You can do anything to make money if you're really committed to it.
Anyway, right now I am right next to Lumpini Park, one of the big parks in Bangkok, so
I'm going to go have a look around.
Check this guy out.
I wonder how close I can get.
Just got to the park and there are a few pretty huge lizards hanging out just by the lake,
which has made it worth it already.
I didn't even have any reason to come here to be honest, I just saw that it was next
to me on the map and I fancied going for a walk in a bit of nature.
So that's what I'm going to do.
How are you doing?
Really chilled place and it's nice that they have this here right in the center of Bangkok.
Yeah, just had a good walk around and yeah I like it.
Today's had a good balance of work for a few hours and then now I get to chill as well
and explore a little bit, I've never been here before so that's nice.
I actually need to head back now, I'm going to head back towards Khao San because after
this I have something exciting planned.
Making my way downtown now and it's actually something pretty exciting.
Remember I did YouTube NextUp a few months ago, well they're doing YouTube NextUp right
now in Bangkok and today is their graduation, final dinner, so I got in touch with the YouTube
guys and I've been invited to it, so I'm going to go there now and meet a load of Thai YouTubers.
Okay, we're here, I'm here, now I need to go meet all of these other YouTubers, I don't
know why but I'm a bit nervous but I think it's going to be cool.
This is it.
Congratulations guys.
Sure, yeah, I run a travel channel, so I do daily vlogs and I travel around the world,
so hey guys, congratulations by the way for all of you.
What is it, a photo, no idea, oh wait, it's a birthday.
Okay so I managed to find the other travel channel here, this is Saduta, enjoy, and they
make travel videos all about Thailand and other places right, so I'll link it below.
I'm also here with Billy, I'll put his channel in the description below, BillBilly01, one
of Thailand's top creators, and from what I hear, an amazing musician, right?
I don't know, I don't know, you be the judge.
Okay yeah, check it out, check it out.
That was really cool, really good chance to meet a load of YouTubers from another country
and yeah, thanks again to YouTube and YouTube NextUp for me being able to do this sort of
thing, it's awesome.
I'm going to finish it there, everyone's just left, I've just met a lot of them, said goodbye
and now I'm also going to leave and go back and sleep, but yeah, another good day, nothing
left to say except for thank you for watching, and this is my life.
