Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon.
That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how I travel the world continuously
No glitz. No glamour. Just a man and his backpack.
How did you learn to edit? I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. My videos were pretty bad at first but eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? I started off running this video blog while doing freelance web design and video editing to supplement my travelling lifestyle. I now rely solely on this blog to generate revenue through advertising, affiliate links, Patreon and sponsorship opportunities.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
Good morning guys and welcome back to day three of YouTube NextUp in London.
Something to tell you, besides all the awesome stuff we're doing in learning,
besides collaborating, besides working with all the other cool YouTubers here,
we're also each given a voucher for new equipment. So that's really awesome.
I've just been deciding this morning what I want to order with the voucher.
The voucher is worth £1,750 so that's quite a bit of equipment
and it's amazing because it means that I'll be able to create better videos in future.
So I'm just going to give you a quick run-through of all the stuff that I've just ordered.
Right, first up I've gone for a new point-and-shoot vlogging camera, the G7X Mark II.
I think that's pretty much the standard, like the best industry standard for vlogging.
Lots of people use the G7X, it's Casey Neistat's favourite camera
and the G7X Mark II is the newest version of that.
Next, I've gone for a Manfrotto travel backpack.
I need just one backpack where I can get all of my equipment in.
And now, this is a 700D and this is what I've had since October
and I'm opting to upgrade from the 700D to a new 70D.
So as soon as I get that, the image on this is going to be quite a bit crisper.
I've then also gone for a leather case for my G7X Mark II
just because I used to have the S120 and I didn't have a good case for it
and that died pretty quickly.
So I really want to protect this one.
I've gone for a filter for the 70D to protect the lenses.
I'm still going to be using the 10-18mm lens that I have on this camera right now
with my new 70D
but I just want to protect the lens and buy a cheap filter.
I've gone for a deadcat for my video mic.
I'm using the Rode VideoMic Go right now
and I'm going to continue using that with my 70D
but the deadcat will just protect a bit more from wind.
I've ordered a go-pole bobber which is like the floaty stick you use for GoPro
to stop my GoPro from sinking if I'm doing swimming with it
or if I'm going snorkeling.
Never had one of them before but really useful.
I've ordered the ball head for my GorillaPod.
I'm using a GorillaPod right now for this camera
but what I don't have is the quickly detachable ball head to go on top of this
and it's just little things like that that will make my life a lot easier.
And finally I've ordered a new extra memory card
with 95MB per second writing speed so that'll just make things easier
and to have a new memory card is always useful
and an SD card reader to quickly plug into my laptop.
And yeah, that's about it.
I just wanted to give you a quick breakdown of all the things that are coming to this channel
and I think everything on that list, that's like vlogging 101.
And yeah, that's everything I've just ordered with that voucher from YouTube
and I really hope that that equipment is going to enable me to step up this channel
to the next level and create more beautiful videos for you.
I really tried hard to get the best value out of that
and to find the stuff that is really going to help me
and that's going to be just practical, useful stuff.
I thought about maybe getting a drone,
I thought about getting a 360 camera or like a glide cam or something
but I just thought I'm going to get stuff that I really know I'm going to use
and stuff that will really help me to push this channel forward.
And while I'd love to get a drone,
I don't want the extra hassle of flying a drone,
carrying a drone in a separate backpack everywhere I am.
And drone footage is something I want to incorporate into this channel in the future
but right now I just want to focus on getting good vlog stuff for you.
Now I know that might be boring to some of you,
I just wanted to show you exactly what's coming to this channel
and to give you a breakdown of all the equipment I think would be really useful
for anyone looking to start a vlog or looking to start a channel.
And that's about it.
Those are my recommendations.
On with the vlog.
Yeah, Captain America.
Yeah.
Captain Nigeria.
Oh, ----.
That's a skit in itself.
Welcome everybody.
I am Captain Nigeria.
My name is Captain Nigeria.
Oh, it's prop stuff.
Oh, it's actually a prop room.
This was like the original YouTube video.
Lightsaber kid.
Have you seen it?
When we're like just doing that, running around in circles.
Oh, it's a Thomas the Wolf.
I noticed it straight away.
That's a thumbnail.
Just checking out the props right now.
Captain Nigeria.
Jedi George.
I don't know.
That is all.
We've got that thingy-majiggy, that guy.
I'm the Jamaican Captain Jack Sparrow.
Okay, so something really cool.
But a little bit embarrassing just happened.
I just bumped into a guy called Adrian Bliss.
And if you haven't watched him, go watch his stuff.
It's absolutely hilarious.
He does a parody channel on vlogging.
And I just bumped into him.
I even forgot to put it in the vlog because I was acting like such a fanboy.
But yeah, just a really cool moment.
Check out his stuff.
Editing class is now in session.
Next up.
Next up, we have editing class.
Don't know if you guys know, but I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit
and hopefully pick up some new tips to make some better videos for you.
Grab it, drop it on.
You can also on a transition and you've got Gaussian blur.
There's so many different ways you can use it.
Just finished up today with a quick meeting with my partner manager
that I've also been assigned at YouTube to help grow this channel.
Yeah, really cool.
I don't know.
I realize I don't know how much I've shown you today,
but I hope the equipment that I showed you is going to help anyone
that is thinking about starting a channel.
And that would be my advice for the equipment to use for your channel.
I don't even know what I'm saying anymore.
Really tired.
So I'm just going to leave it there.
And thank you for watching.
And this is my life.
