BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA : One of Europe's BEST destinations! 2023 GUIDE

Hi guys and welcome to Live Joy Travel. I'm Jess and today I welcome you guys to an incredibly underrated country. I am in Slovakia. To be specific I find myself in the capital of this beautiful country Bratislava. So All right guys so we start our day right here walking through one of the beautiful streets in downtown. I'm super excited to be here. We're only a few steps away from the working man statue which I will take you guys to see in just a minute but first I have to get my energy up so we can give you the very best in this video and we are gonna go try one of the most famous coffee shops here in Bratislava. We're gonna go drink a cappuccino with our faces on it so let's go. We finally made it. It was only a few minutes of a walk. We're gonna go in have some coffee and I can't wait to show you guys the line. So that was absolutely delicious. We literally tore that up in just a few minutes and now we're gonna go and show you the rest of this beautiful capital city and before we do that I want to show you guys one of the most important sculptures here in Bratislava. So we're gonna walk through the streets and this is actually really close to the restaurant where we just had a selfie chinos at and let me go show you. All right guys so after a two three minute walk I am finally here. Now Bratislava has a lot of statues that you will be able to find just around town but they do have their most popular one and that is cumul and that is a sewer worker coming out and I'm gonna show it to you guys. Now there is a myth that says that if you touch the top of his hat it will bring you good luck and you will also find lots and lots of tourists right here trying to get a glimpse at the statue and trying to get a little touch of that hat and hope it brings you good luck. What do you think? Guys one of the most amazing things that you will find here in Bratislava is the vibe. Now for being a capital city it does not feel like a capital city whatsoever. You actually get to enjoy yourself, sit at a cafe. The people are definitely not like most capital people like you will see in Zurich, Milano etc. Here it has the small town charm but it's a pretty big city and of course the capital. Now we're coming up to another beautiful square and I swear every time I turn I see something pretty and I have to show you guys this one. So guys we continue to walk it through the streets and I'm telling you I am having an amazing time. Now a fun fact about this place guys most people do not know that Bratislava actually used to be a part of Hungary at one point you guys and it finally sought its independence around the 1919 or so and now Slovakia and Bratislava are on their own and I have to say highly highly an underrated place. There's so much to do here from the Ufo to the river to the castle but we're gonna keep moving throughout downtown and showing you guys before we go hit up those places. So come with me and let's go. I do want to tell you guys where I'm heading to next and that is to see the Ufo that is a huge tower that most people come to see and dine at here in Bratislava. Now for me I'm gonna go catch it from the bridge. Now the Ufo is right near the Danube river so it makes for a great view guys and we're gonna go check it out so walk with me. Light me up don't you stop cause tonight it's on the line show me how you get on down close my eyes take me for a ride Guys we are officially inside the Ufo. We can't wait to see the view at the top. Let's go check this view. I can't believe Adrian's making me do this considering I'm afraid of heights. Force fun. Force fun. Mandatory fun is what he calls it so let's go. It's so hot. No you did not just do this to me. She's fine. She's fine. The next segment will be presented by Adrian while I stand right here and have a freakout. Don't get too close. So guys one of the most amazing things about this tower right here is that it actually offers you a view into two other countries guys. You can actually see Austria and Hungary from this very tower. You can see past their borders and so that makes it very unique in and of itself. Watch for your head. As stressful as that was it was totally worth it. One of the best views I have seen in a very long time so I'm glad I went up. So guys once you see the tower the view I would highly recommend that you come down the stairs and come straight into the bar because here you will have another amazing view of the Danube river of the main castle guys and overall a 360 view of the city so it's definitely worth it and you get to cool off so make sure that you either order a local beer a local wine or your favorite spritz for an excellent excellent time. As for us we get some local beers and we're ready to relax especially me after that. Come up here you may just get a surprise. Today we found an ostrich so go explore. You never know what you may bump into. That's so cool. Whoa that was amazing. One of the top experiences to be in that elevator so up close to the ostrich we were literally making eye contact be like hey what's up. Guys some of the most beautiful things about traveling is that you get to experience random things that you never thought you would do and when I get to be doing things like this and I remember everything that we gave up and everything we sacrificed to be here suddenly it's all worth it. It doesn't matter anymore because this is our life and I couldn't be happier. Let's keep moving because this city has pumped me up and I'm ready to go see the next place. Let's go. To the church that is right behind me you guys you see it right there with the green top. Now guys this church specifically has a lot of significance for the Slovakian people. Now many kings queens and their consorts have actually been coronated right up there and now just to clarify they were Hungarian royalty from back in the day so this church has history galore and it's a must when you come here and only a short walk away from the UFO and also from downtown. Now we're gonna go in and check it out. There's an exhibition right outside as well which was pretty cool to look but now we're heading in so let's walk. Now guys we are officially out of the church and I have to say it is impressive. One of the things that I actually found the most impressive and interesting is that they actually do have an 11th century cemetery and you can actually sit down and get a view of the remains and it sounds a little morbid but when you're thinking about it in terms of the 11th century what you're looking at it it's quite interesting. I'm just blown. I'm blown by Bratislava you guys. I wish I could spend more days here but such is the life. We had to keep moving and guys just a couple steps later more like 40 steps later you will arrive to the old city walls that happen to be right across from the church that we just visited. Now if you want to feel small that's the place. The walls are huge and definitely worth seeing. They definitely, I could see, I could imagine the purpose they served around that time. It's pretty cool. Today is incredibly hot and sunny and what I'm gonna do now is that I'm actually going to enjoy the sunshine and walk it all the way up to the castle. I'm just gonna follow the path and get there so come with me. And the climbing continues. I don't know how far up we're gonna go but all I know is that everybody says that it's worth it so what do you think? I know how far we're going until we get to the castle. How far? Until we get to the castle. All right let's keep moving y'all. All right guys we have made it to the base of the castle and we are getting ready to go in through this gate. Let's see what awaits us. I've made it to the top. It was definitely worthwhile the climb. Now I do have to tell you the view is also beautiful. I feel like everywhere I go I see beautiful views here in Bratislava. Now the castle behind me it looks amazing but it has gone through so many renovations. The most recent one in 1950 guys. Now what's so cool about this castle right here despite the numerous renovations that it has gone through is that it first dates back to 900 AD guys so that's the first written record that has been regarding this place and that's amazing in and of itself. One of the cool things is that you are allowed to visit the grounds completely free of charge so you can walk through the gardens, see the views, experience the architecture which is baroque in nature by the way and all for free. So if you are a budget traveler this is an absolutely amazing option for you guys but I'm gonna stop talking and give you guys a couple more views of this amazing place. So guys that was amazing. The views were honestly killer. I enjoyed it but it's time to keep moving because the day will soon come to an end so I have to make sure I fit as much as possible today so let's go. Because one of the last places I want to show you is the Blue Church. Now the Blue Church is very very much iconic for Bratislava and I wanted to make sure that I didn't close out this video without giving you guys a good look at the church so that is where I'm walking right now. Come with me. Guys here we are. I'm standing right in front of it. I have to say that's really really cool. Now it is outside of the city center but it wasn't very bad of a walk. I would say it was about a 10-15 minute walk so we are in a more local spot so if you do want to experience the local life here in Bratislava this neighborhood was probably going to be a good one. They have cafes, restaurants and places like that so that's my recommendation. Let me give you a look at the church. Wow guys I have to say that was absolutely amazing. This is the first time I visited an old blue church. Now the true name of this church is actually Saint Elizabeth but most tourists even locals know it as the Blue Church. Now I absolutely loved it and I can 1000% recommend it that you guys put it on your itinerary when you come here but with that said guys I do have to tell you there's just so much so much to do here in Bratislava. I have not done it justice today. Barely barely touched the surface of everything that you could possibly do here in this beautiful town but for today that is going to be it for me.
