So we're in Bratislava, Slovakia today and we're going to give you a few great
traditional food tips and we'll show you some highlights of the city. It's not a
huge video like we have here on the channel a lot because we're only here
for a few hours but we did want to give you some food tips for when you visit
and you want to try something traditional and local. So let's go!
If you're looking for a nice sweet snack in between then you have to have the
traditional Slovakian bagel or here they call it the Bratislava roll. It is puff
pastry with poppy seeds inside apparently. Look at it, it looks really
nice. You can get the best ones at Konditoraj Kurmut which is in the city
center of Old Town right there in the center and it's an amazing coffee house. You can
get a nice cup of tea or coffee with these Bratislava rolls there and it
looks amazing with murals and paintings and the shop itself is like a museum.
Unfortunately we couldn't eat inside. I will show you a little bit of the shop
because I filmed there but we have a dog and Nala couldn't go inside. So I'm gonna
eat it outside and see what the fuss is all about.
The first bit is a bit dry I have to say but you can see there are poppy seeds in
there already. So let me get another bite.
Really nice. It's very sweet and I like that. And it's, I have to say the pastry
itself is a little bit dryish but then when you get to the part with the poppy
seeds it's really nice. Get this. It's local, it's traditional and it's fun to
try something new.
I ordered something that I already should have done it in Czechia
actually because this is the Czech and Slovakian version of Coca-Cola. It's
called Coca-Cola and I'm now drinking it for the first time. It looks like
cola but it's a little more sour and it's more herby. That is nice. But it's
actually really different so if you're in the area you should definitely try this.
I'm having the sauerkraut gnocchi with bacon. I don't like sauerkraut that much
but I wanted to give it a go because it's so traditional and local that I
But it's very nice because it's not that much of sauerkraut. It balances with the
gnocchi and the bacon, the saltiness of the bacon. It's actually really nice. I can
really recommend it. I'm having traditional garlic cream soup. I made this
at home once before and it was amazing and now I try it here in a local
restaurant. I can't wait. Oh, it's really sweet. Oh, it's a lot sweeter than I expected.
The garlic taste is really really strong still. Oh, it's really really sweet.
There's a lot of cream in it as well. I like it. It's nice.
Two things very popular here in Slovakia which is gnocchi that I had for
main course but for a dessert you can have gnocchi with poppy seeds. Poppy seeds
are very popular here as well. You have poppy seed pastry everywhere. I'm having
poppy seed gnocchi with a bit of powdered sugar. Very nice. The seeds give it a
really nice... I couldn't say... like it is some kind of sweetness but not like
the sweetness that it's like oh this is so sweet and that's what makes it so
but it really gives it a really nice flavor. And the gnocchi is still warm, which I love as well.
Definitely recommend poppy seed gnocchi for dessert. Of course there's so much more food
here in Bratislava but like I said we only had a few hours here but put in the
comment section down below what else should people get when they visit
Bratislava and of course you have to subscribe to our channel because we have
longer videos with more food for Lisbon, Rome, Iceland, Edinburgh. Everywhere in the
world we have been. We haven't been everywhere yet but everywhere that we
have been we made a video for you to check out the best food traditional and
trendy so check out those videos. For now I'm signing off here from Bratislava.
We had a great nice day. We had a little bit of rain as well but at least we gave
you some nice food and some nice impressions of this city. See you next time. Bye!
