FAQ:
What equipment do you use? I have a Canon 700D with Rode VideoMic Go, a Canon Powershot S120 and a GoPro Hero 3+ Black. I edit on my Acer 8GB RAM laptop.
How did you learn to edit? I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. My videos were pretty bad at first but eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? Right now I am running this video blog while doing freelance web design and video editing to supplement my travelling lifestyle.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
Good morning. This is Baba with eggs.
And it looks really similar to something I used to have in Nepal when I went there before.
But it's good.
Anyway, we're about to jump off after breakfast and go hiking again for the next few hours.
But first, I'm going to eat this.
Yeah, I've had this loads in Nepal.
Spring.
Wonder dog.
We are heading off now. We're going to start on this morning hike.
It actually is nine in the morning now and we need to be at a point for pickup in three and a half hours.
They have a car arranged.
But this hike is apparently three hours long.
So we need to get moving pretty quickly.
Kitsu and Ferdinand are staying behind.
Not feeling great and don't feel up for the hike.
Well, I think Kitsu's feeling okay. Ferdinand's not feeling great.
But anyway, we're going to go and try and start the hike now.
So we have Scott and Liz and Alice and Kai.
And we're all going hiking.
Bye, Liz.
Okay, whoa, windy.
Liz is staying there.
But we are going to go and complete a three-hour hike in two or less hours.
Because that's how much time we have.
So we're going to go and try and walk quickly.
Left some of our bags here.
Let's go.
Which way?
From here, a free minibus.
It takes us to an entrance that way.
Cool, apparently we get a free minibus.
Hey.
So we are walking directly downhill now.
And have been for about ten minutes.
One thing I haven't really mentioned in the last couple of days.
And I haven't really mentioned the whole time I've been doing jiu-jitsu either.
Is that I'm doing all of this without an ACL.
I snapped my ACL last year.
And basically, if you don't know, that's the ligament that runs through your knee.
And is the one that helps you to stay upright.
Basically.
It's completely snapped.
If I wanted to fix it, I'd need the operation.
And I haven't had time to have the operation while I've been travelling.
But it is hurting now.
I just wanted to say that it hasn't really stopped me from doing anything.
It hasn't stopped me from travelling.
It hasn't stopped me from doing jiu-jitsu.
And it hasn't stopped me from doing this week-long hike.
It hurts a bit.
And the advice from any doctor.
And specifically what my doctor said to me.
Is just don't go walking around on any mountainsides.
But it's fine.
It's absolutely fine.
So, if any of you have a little something like that.
I'm not a doctor.
I'm not saying just go and do it.
But I'm saying, usually, if you're willing to put in the hard work.
Then you can do stuff, no matter what.
Really, I think, sometimes you can just create excuses for yourself.
When I first did this, I was really worried about how can I carry on travelling.
How can I manage without having the operation.
But then I realised, I'm not doing too many different things.
From what I'd be doing normally at home.
And just because I'm in a foreign country.
Doesn't mean I should be more scared about having something wrong with me.
It's manageable wherever you are.
And now, I'm treated to views like this.
Look at that.
Seem to have found a cave.
Woah.
Good work, Canon.
So it's just quite a small cave.
With a bat at the end.
Which everyone is freaking out over.
Anyway, we continue this way on the hike.
This guy really does not like this ladder.
And this is why.
Man, this is pretty epic.
We're walking along like, next to a cliff.
Along the side of a cliff.
Awesome.
He kind of struggles with heights as well.
So if you want to hear about that.
I'm sure that's what he's talking about right now.
So check this out.
Let me just show you.
What I'm looking at.
There's a point we just saw.
Where we can get down to the water's edge.
And actually be next to the rapids.
So that's what we're walking down to now.
But I think, when I get down there, you probably won't be able to hear me.
But I'll try.
Check this out.
I gotta be honest.
I don't like this.
This guy doesn't like this.
I understand why.
So as I was just saying.
Rapids are really cool.
So after 6 weeks of Jiu Jitsu.
4 days of hiking.
And now just doing that with a broken ACL.
We now need to climb out of the gorge.
Using a ladder.
Right, first things first.
I'm going to put away this camera.
Why am I doing this?
So here we go.
Okay.
Let's go.
Not be keeping this camera out the whole time.
That's for sure.
Oh my god.
Shit.
Okay, I don't usually swear on my vlog.
But this is a good time.
I am 100% not happy about this.
But.
Do it for the vlog.
Right, almost there.
How you doing?
Good job man.
Thank you.
What do you think?
Yeah, good.
The first 2 minutes are good.
The next 2 minutes are terrible.
Oh my god, another ladder.
It's fine.
Let's have a look at that.
It's like solid ham.
Petrified ham.
How does it smell?
So we reached the top of the ladder.
And there's this little rest stop.
And like everywhere I've been so far in this region.
They smell weird.
But this one has a sign.
Just a reminder.
Of how epic the scenery is here.
All the time.
It's amazing.
Woah, jingle.
Well we made it back.
With 10 minutes to spare.
We have 10 minutes before our car's here.
So enough time to grab a water.
What's this?
Right, we are ready to go.
Quick stop off.
And now we're off again.
Woah, what's that kids?
Dangerous.
Snake.
Kids serious interest.
Look at that goat.
I just want to play, I swear.
Do you guys want like
fried roast beef kind of thing?
Ok, well we just stopped to get some lunch.
Which is proving to be confusing.
As ever.
I think we've just ordered some stuff.
And we're going to find somewhere to sit.
And have a snack.
I like that flag.
That is a nice flag.
Well that was a very
enjoyable lunch.
And now we're going to jump back in
the car.
And I think we're going to try and stop and see if we can see some scenery
somewhere, but if not we're just going to head back to
the hostel.
Look at this place, it looks like a postcard.
I'll sit where I was.
So our last stop for the day
is just to check out a view.
Have a look at this.
Awesome.
What do you think?
It's lovely.
I think we're all
pretty run down now.
A couple people have been ill, all of us
are feeling tired, but to finish up
an awesome week with this view
is kind of perfect.
Well, that's a wrap.
I'm going to finish it there.
After this we're jumping back in the minivan
and going back to the hostel where we stayed on the first night.
And then in the morning we'll be heading back to Dali.
But I can't think
of any better place to finish up
than here.
This is awesome, and what a perfect way
to end this trip.
And what a perfect way to end
today.
Anyway, with that
I'll leave you again and just say that
I feel really lucky to be here.
But for now, thank you for watching
and this is my life.
