Hey, Jake's back at his own show.
He's on the mic and he's ready to go.
Noodle on his left, Jess on his right.
Hey, hold up, don't start a fight.
He's got you covered with all the sports.
Don't fret, he's wearing shorts.
It's time for Wake and Jake in the morning.
Wake and Jake at night.
Jake sucks.
Good morning, bakers.
Good morning, Jamboy Media.
We are under siege.
If you don't know what that's in reference to,
our Jamboy and Jake TV channel.
We do baggage over there.
We do JJR, our weekly podcast, catching everything up.
We're under attack this morning.
Game Show Network filed some claims,
slash straight took down the videos.
So we've got some craziness going on here.
They kind of threatened some of the other channels.
So, you know, if you find yourself,
if you know anyone at Game Show Network,
now would be the time to reach out.
We'll see.
They kind of gave us a weak warning.
So we've got some time and we've got people working on it.
But scary because it's part of the lifeblood of what we do here.
So appreciate you guys tuning in.
Happy Thursday morning.
We've got a couple of the biggest football games of the year,
AFC, NFC championship games, basketball.
I think we're going to do a little kind of NBA catch up
because soon we'll be in the NBA season.
Couple MLB signings.
Talking baseball.
A lot of ads.
But first, BBD.
What we start out with on Wake and Jake is the game of the night.
And we're going into the realm of basketball a little bit.
And, hey, we're staying in the John Boy Media family.
We're staying in New York, technically.
We're actually going to Cleveland.
But the Brooklyn Nets, who have been the story of the NBA recently,
Harden, Katie, and Kyrie has officially joined the party.
The first game for the big three in Believeland.
Collin Sexton in the Cavs.
You'll understand why it's Collin Sexton in the Cavs soon.
The Nets open up hot.
They go 10 for 10 on their first 10 field goal attempts.
This team can't be stopped.
It's unfair.
Talking Nets.
Nets Twitter's running hot.
How quickly did it go from these three aren't going to work together
to it's unfair.
And then the game of basketball happens.
Cuts to halftime.
It's 51-49 Cleveland.
Jetty Oseman getting buckets in this one, BBD.
Your guy, Jetty Oseman.
And, man, Cleveland starts running away with it in the third quarter.
They get about a 10-point lead.
That's when Nick's Twitter starts piping in a little bit.
Oh, so here's your super team losing to Cleveland, huh?
And then they turned it on.
Man, Harden still doing his thing.
A lot of ISO stuff.
Kyrie Irving, BBD.
First game back after being a missing person.
Slash he's done a lot of good stuff kind of in the world,
so we do need to respect that.
But he also left the team.
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant's been balling and getting buckets.
This Brooklyn team is coming back down the stretch.
I mean, they were down 10 with, like, six minutes to play.
They turn it on.
They hit their go gear.
Down the stretch, they get a big call.
What was going on there?
The coaches challenge.
I don't know.
People were starting to get hot on the nets.
The NBA loves the nets.
We're going OT, baby.
Kyrie with a nice tip in with a minute left.
That was pretty awesome.
Kyrie's nasty, dude.
We're going overtime, BBD.
Buenos Cantos in Cleveland.
That's what it's all about.
Kyrie makes a three.
Katie hits a three.
You know, they get a five-point lead.
This is it.
And then a couple of the old nets are doing it.
How about Jared Allen?
You know, he went there in the three-way trade.
Torian Prince getting paper.
What?
What's that about?
James Harden.
We're going to double overtime, BBD.
Run it back.
Colin Sexton.
Three-point jumper with 1.2 on the clock to tie it to the go to the second overtime.
And this is what NBA Twitter ended up talking about.
Sexy time.
I saw the No Dunks guy.
Sex and coffee.
I want sex and candy because Colin Sexton kept it going into the second overtime.
So, let's see.
We're a math pod, right?
Larry Nance getting in the action.
So, Colin Sexton makes the three-point shot to send it to OT.
Free throw in the second overtime.
Three-point shot.
What's that?
Eight?
Three-point shot.
11.
Layup.
That would 11 plus 2 will say 13.
Three-point shot.
16.
We're a math pod.
Three-point shot.
19.
Quick math is telling me that Colin Sexton got 19 straight points in OT.
Math could be wrong.
Could have misread the sheet.
Colin Sexton.
Sexy time.
If we're on Wake and Jake, you know we like getting sexy here.
Cleveland spoils the first game for the big three.
147 to 135 in double OT.
BBD going in the box score is kind of fun.
Kyrie gets 37.
KD 38.
The thing that's kind of scary, KD played 50 minutes.
I mean, I know it's a double OT game and everything, but, you know,
didn't play last year.
You're supposed to be watching his minutes and stuff.
Probably get one of the rest days.
Yeah, I mean, they'll give him one of those.
Jetty Oseman also played 50 minutes, so let's be more worried about him.
Colin Sexton kind of comes on the scene in a big way.
42 points.
He's been getting buckets this year.
Five of 11 from three.
Only 38 minutes from Sexton.
42 points in 38 minutes.
What a time to have a big game because a lot of eyes were watching last night.
Good for Cleveland.
They get the win.
And Brooklyn, again, this is going to take a little bit to come together.
But, yeah, I mean, those big three can do it.
Kyrie played 48 in his first game back.
Yeah, I mean, just double OT games, big minutes.
They're going to skew the minutes a little bit.
Built different emoji.
The game of the night was brought to you by kind of a couple things.
We'll go John Boy Media Store.
John Boy Media Store.
We're having a sale on sweaters.
We've got holiday sweaters.
We've got regular sweaters.

We wanted to do a real sale, kind of give back to you guys a little bit.

As is, they aren't particularly pricey.
Yeah, no.

Every year, you're getting ready for an ugly Christmas party.
This year it was a Zoom, probably.
Yeah, ugly Christmas Zoom.
You're always like, ah, could use a new one to break out.
It's not a quick enough turnaround.
Get it now.
I know what you're saying, BBD.
That's a nice feeling.
If you ordered your ugly Christmas sweater for next year, when it's December 1 next year
and someone's talking about ugly sweater party, you're like, and you got it.
I've got the new one I'm breaking now.
You feel good about yourself.
Next year, I'm just going to call my shot.
Next year there's going to be parties.
There's going to be huge parties.
I love parties.
We've got regular sweaters, too.
It's going to be cold for the next three months in the Northeast.
Johnboymedia.com, sweater sale this week, 25% off.
Go check it out.
That was the game of the night.
A little Wake and Jake news.
I'll tell you guys off the rip because you guys are the real ones.
Wake and Jake, I think around the Super Bowl or after the Super Bowl,
we're going to be going to our own YouTube channel.
This is a big thing in Johnboymedia right now because we've got some stuff going on
with our YouTube channels as I open the show with.
We're going to be doing a Wake and Jake channel.
It's out there.
Go subscribe to that.
We'll have clips from the show.
We'll have Wake and Jake there.
We're going to be redoing the whole YouTube.
Reorganizing.
Yeah.
Wake and Jake is a pretty deep dive sports podcast.
A lot of the people that come on the main channel are just looking for casual
couple laughs, learn something quick, three-minuty.
We'll be going over to that other channel, Wake and Jake.
If you could subscribe over there before we set up, we'd appreciate that.
There's a link in the description of this video.
I'll try to get a pinned comment in there after the video.
There's a pinned live chat.
All right.
Go click it.
There's links.
I'm over it already.
We'll talk about it more as it gets there.
Maybe we'll give something away if you go subscribe over there.
Let's talk sports, BBD, because we've been under siege.
Under siege.
Just did a John Boy Media ad talking about moving locations.
I like sports.
That's what I like.
I think we're going to do the football, and then we're going to do a little
NBA catch-up for you guys.
The NBA season's in full swing.
A little bit for us, too.
Yeah.
I mean, you know, we've been doing baseball offseason and kind of getting
into this football season, and soon, I mean, the only games that count,
sorry, NHL, are going to be the NBA games.
So we'll do a little NBA recap at the end.
We're going to jump into the foosball games this weekend.
BBD, I think we're still a cron pod, right?
Let's do it.
Who knows anymore?
We're an under siege pod.
That's for sure.
We'll, God, we'll see.
We'll be good.
What game do you want to do first, BBD?
What is the actual chronological order?
Both games are on Sunday, Buccaneers, Packers, the early game.
Bucs-Packs is the early.
Bucs-Packs, the early game.
That's interesting, man.
How about that?
Those had to be preset because otherwise they'd do Rogers
and Brady night game, right?
Yeah, but I'm guessing based on nothing, just conjecture from me,
I assume they switch which one's first every year.
AFC gets the late game one year, NFC the next.
I like that.
Yeah, if someone knows, let us know.
It's probably a system.
Buccaneers, Packers, if you're a football fan,
I mean probably two of the top four names known in the league,
Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers, the quarterbacks of these two teams.
Tom terrific leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against Aaron Rogers
and the Packers.
We're going up to Lambeau.
Give me some flurries, babe.
Like let's have a nice Lambeau game.
And, hey, if you're one of our older listeners,
I'm in this weird tweener where I'm starting to think I'm kind of older.
I'm kind of older for the realm we live in.
I look 14.
BBD also pretty young looking.
So I'll say this.
I mean Tom Brady is 42 years old.
Or is he 43?
We looked this up yesterday.
I think he's 42.
Yeah, he's 40.
Aaron Rogers is 37.
There was some ESPN headline today that read 43.
Tom Brady is 43 years old.
That's nuts.
31, I'm tired.
Rogers, 37.
It's going to be interesting to see this Tampa Bay Buccaneers team.
And Insider Jonboy was pretty big on this when he did the breakdown of the
Brady Breeze game, not the Brady Brays.
Brady Brays.
There was an ice cream place in Denver, Bonnie Bray.
So that also got in the mix in my head there.
It would be awesome if this game turns into the shootout that we all kind of
dream it is.
Just Brady and Rogers back and forth.
This Buccaneers team is built on their defense.
And that's actually kind of the low-key story of this game.
I think the Bucs have one of the best rush defenses in the league.
If you watched the Packers last week, they go Aaron Jones, they go Williams,
they pound the rock when they can.
And that just lets Rogers do whatever he wants.
It allows Rogers to be a straight-up wizard.
So early on, Green Bay running the ball, Tampa, blah, blah, blah.
I mean, Green Bay is favored by what?
Three points, something like that?
Yeah.
In Lambeau?
Three and a half or something.
Yeah, I think if it's in Tampa, it's probably Tampa minus one or a pick-em.
Man, I don't know.
A, enjoy it.
These teams aren't scheduled to play next year.
So if they were, it would be playoffs again, which can very well happen.
I do think some of the writers get a little over-antsy and they're like,
imagine if these guys, this could be it.
This is the last time.
It could be.
Like, we could very well be these teams in the playoffs next year.
Tom Brady's under contract next year.
He doesn't want to retire.
He's said that many times.
I think he wants to play until he's 45.
Rogers had some weird quote today that was like,
yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery.
It wasn't actually that quote, but it was kind of ass corny.
That vibe.
Who are people rooting for?
What's the word in the streets?
There's probably enough people that hate Brady that are like, alright, Packers.
But there's probably enough Packers haters too.
Yeah, right?
I kind of don't have a vibe on it.
I kind of weirdly like both.
Yeah, dude, I'm kind of sitting here because I've always kind of liked Brady.
When he started going off the deep end, like, ugg scooter Brady,
and everyone's like, what are you doing, man?
Like, you don't – what?
Why?
And now the fact that he kind of feuded with Belichick
and he's trying to do like the –
His own thing.
Hey.
Because people did this best coach, best quarterback debate for a long time
that if Brady wins another one outside, like, that's a stab at Belichick.
Especially when they didn't make the playoffs.
They didn't have a good team, but Belichick also has that power there for a while.
He's kind of the GM, basically.
So I guess I'm kind of –
It's tough, man, because I also love Rodgers.
Like, Rodgers is gross.
I like that whole Packers team.
He's a weird guy.
Aaron Rodgers is one of my favorite quarterbacks that I've ever watched play.
Like, I think he's more fun to me than Mahomes.
Like, Mahomes does video game stuff where you throw up your arms
and you're like, okay.
Like, nope.
Like, Rodgers.
Rodgers does some stuff that's nasty.
Devontae Adams has been crazy this year.
He's got an argument for best receiver in the league.
We did that a couple weeks ago because he's also had Rodgers.
So what does that mean?
I thought it was interesting that Tampa Bay, they played the Rams last week.
Jalen Ramsey, number one defense, blah, blah, blah.
Donald was hurting stuff.
But Devontae Adams scores the touchdown on that play Ramsey was freaking out on.
It's going to be interesting because Green Bay, like we said,
they like running the ball.
If they don't run it, is it going to be the Rodgers show?
And then if it is, is that what you want?
Because if he's right.
He's right, he's right.
Then you're screwed either way.
Tampa, what can they do offensively?
They're nicked up.
New Orleans lost the turnover battle four to nothing last week.
They didn't have any big drives.
That was the John Boy Insider I referenced five minutes ago and got lost.
So I don't know.
I mean.
I'm still just like, I don't know.
Brady just kind of makes it work.
I don't need to be the guy predicting his downfall.
When it happens, it happens.
What's better for the NFL?
Brady?
It's weird.
It's probably pretty neutral.
Because, I mean, Rodgers, you know.
I think NFL is fine with either of these teams.
He's near Brady's category, but the Green Bay Packers are like part of the NFL.
Among the four teams left, I guess you'd ideally want Chiefs against the Packers.
It's like the overall, like that's the best matchup.
Yeah.
Which makes sense.
They're the one seeds.
I mean, either team from this game is a win for the league.
Because of the Bills' culture, I don't think they're pissed if the Bills pulled it off either.
Right.
It's fun.
Like if we want to make Josh Rosen a dude and remember those.
We'll get there in a second.
Hey, we'll have to dig up the tape.
Because I think week one I said the Chiefs were in.
And then one of the weeks I decided that I was all in on the Packers too.
So I guess I'm not.
You've been saying for a while that we're building up towards these Packers.
I won't back down now.
Yeah, I think once the Russ and the Seahawks love finally went down,
I think that's when I was like, Rogers and the Packers are nasty.
So I'll go there.
I guess my heart's kind of rooting Brady, which is a little sick.
But he's 43.
He's 43 and with the Tampa Bay Bucks.
So yeah, I think I want Brady.
There's things I like about both of them.
The Hurrians is fun.
The coach too.
Their whole gronks on the team.
Gronks around.
Yeah, we don't talk about that a lot.
Yeah.
Their defense is good.
Growing up I've been kind of like Brady's dominance against everyone but my team,
the Giants.
So I kind of like when he wins against other people.
So I was like triple angry when they lost to the Eagles because I obviously
hate the Eagles more than the Patriots.
And I was living in Philly.
So that was tough.
So it looks like there's early flurries in Green Bay.
It should be over by noon.
So I'm not going to get excited about that.
But, I mean, that's...
Maybe it pushes back.
If you're any sort of football fan, that should be an awesome game to watch.
And then, yeah, people in the chat, like Brady has so many rings.
Like Rogers gets a lot more credit if he gets another.
That's kind of the whole Drew Brees thing.
Another one goes a long way.
Right.
Like if Rogers wins another one, you can start having the dumb,
fun sports conversations and being like...
And all of a sudden he gets one more.
You can have like a Rogers is the best ever conversation.
Because then you can say Brady was with Belichick and blah, blah, blah.
You start connecting dots.
You can start an argument.
Yeah.
So I don't know.
Let's just enjoy that one.
The Chiefs and the Bills were going to Kansas City.
Josh Allen and the Bills have been awesome this year.
He's been awesome this year.
A Buffalo Bills offense, you don't normally think of that in recent years.
Like the Bills have kind of been solid, but it's normally defense.
And, no, I mean, Josh Allen and Stephon Diggs is very real.
They've been lighting up.
And we did the whole Chiefs thing the other day,
where they've got this kind of Golden State Warriors effect going on,
that they are this freak offense,
and Mahomes is clearly the best quarterback right now.
The number one you'd pick.
Yeah, like, yes.
You're counting age and future stuff.
He's the number one you would select for your team.
Yes.
And the NFL has started to make...
The given day, Rogers can still be better.
Well, that's where I was wondering.
If the times weren't decided,
I wondered if this was an NFL move to be like Mahomes is the guy now,
because he's going to be for the next decade.
If you're thinking that way, I mean, either of them,
but particularly if he beat Brady in the Super Bowl, that would be...
Oh, man.
See, I like...
Passing the torch.
You get a little bit of that with Rogers too, so it's not like...
I mean, I'm a storyline sicko, so Brady, Mahomes.
Pass the torch.
Or Brady beats him.
Like, Brady's such a sicko that, like, okay.
Post that Still Here video.
I'm kind of rooting for the Buffalo Bills.
Let's start there,
because I think this is going to turn into a Chiefs love fest.
Their last loss was the Hale-Murray game.
We've talked about that a few times.
If they knock that down,
they wouldn't have lost since they lost to the Chiefs 26-17,
and that was week six of the season.
So the Bills have been playing really good football, man.
They've got a few giant wins on there.
Their last regular season game, I mean, they put up 56 versus the Dolphins.
You know, as we rave about the offense,
they hold the Ravens to three points last week.
Crazy wind in that game.
But still, they did their thing.
Mahomes is obviously a little different.
The Chiefs haven't beaten anyone.
The Chiefs...
Let me start over.
The Chiefs have beaten a lot of teams.
But they haven't smacked anyone in a while,
and I think that's going to be what everyone is wondering coming into this game.
Is this going to be a heads-up game, back and forth?
Or did the Chiefs show that kind of Golden State offense
that they can kick into gear and they can turn it on?
I personally, again, I've been thinking that way all season.
I just think they can.
I mean, when you look at the talent on the Kansas City Chiefs.
They were able to do it against the Saints late in the season.
They've done it against some legit teams fairly recently.
It is kind of that Golden State feel,
like Golden State could just rip off a 20-0 run whenever they wanted.
Like the Browns game, Hennie comes in, which, hey,
I guess we'll see if Mahomes plays.
I think he's playing.
They've been saying it's not even a concussion anymore.
He's been a limited participant.
I mean, Mahomes is playing.
Like that Browns final score is 22-17, but nobody...
I don't know.
There's this weird no-fear factor with the Chiefs.
Andy Reid believes in his team and his job security.
They had all the fourth-and-ones that they got last week.
And they have.
I mean, they won the Super Bowl last year.
They have done it before.
And, I mean, I think Clyde Edwards-Hilaire might be back.
He had the weird leg injury.
They've got Le'Veon Bell, Tyreek, Travis Kelsey.
That whole offense can go.
I see people in the chat right now, and I see people saying it,
that Mahomes isn't going to play.
It's just really hard for me to believe.
I don't know.
If it's a concussion or if it is a shoulder thing and he's not right,
he's not right.
If he doesn't play the cheddar I sprinkled on the bills.
Yeah, gambling BBD on the bills.
It was fully my brother's idea to do it, but I was like,
if you're going to use my DraftKings account, promo code johnboy,
to do it, add some for me.
I'll say this.
I think if you're the Buffalo Bills or if you're an NFL fan,
I think what the bills have going for them is if this is a game
and it's competitive, I think people will rally around the bills.
Like, if it's halftime or the third quarter and it's 24 to 20
and it's back and forth or whatever's going on,
I think the internet and the people will start to, like,
fully buy in to what the bills are doing.
Josh Allen, Stefan Diggs, I think people, you know, the Chiefs did it.
They won the Super Bowl.
Mahomes is like, but when you win, people do want to see you lose.
So I think if the bills can keep this a game, I still don't think they can.
Like, I know I'm not a deep dive X's and O's guy.
There's some football people out there that love the bills,
but, like, if Kansas City goes up 10-0,
like, nobody believes the bills are going to win that game.
If the bills go up 10-0, you, like, tune in and you're like, okay.
So let's see.
Like, let's find out.
Yeah, and that's the sick part of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The bills, they have a little, if there's one of these teams that has,
like, the team of destiny feel unless you want to do some Brady magic stuff,
I think it is the bills that have that.
Like, just looking at their full season schedule,
they haven't gotten beat this year.
Yeah.
They got their teeth kicked in by the Titans for their first loss of the year,
week five.
Just full 42-16 loss.
Tennessee's a team that plays from ahead really well.
Kansas City was like a drive.
They went ahead in the last two minutes.
Hail Murray.
And those were the two losses they've had this year.
Like, they played from ahead.
For the most part, they've been in all the games
or blown teams out all year.
The bills are really good.
I'm sure if there's an X's and O's deep dive,
people believe in the bills more.
But, like, I feel like Kansas City hit a point this season
where they didn't even roll out the stuff they needed.
Like, I think Andy Reid might put on a clinic this weekend.
The bills proved me wrong.
That, like, game-clinching play at the end to the Tyreek play.
Yeah.
I was like, all right, it's over.
It felt like, oh, she's, like, always have a go-to plan.
Break that out when they need to.
Give Andy Reid kind of the benefit of the doubt stuff.
Is that where Taylor playing?
Clicked his name.
Let's see if I get any info on it.
Limited participant at practice.
Whoa, a little audio from the laptop.
Whoa, a little lubey there.
I don't know.
Bills proved me wrong.
That's what I want.
I've been on Chiefs and Packers for a while.
Prove me wrong and I'll be all in.
Josh Allen's fun.
Don't dislike him.
No reason to not like him if they want to announce themselves in the AFC.
I mean, if you're an AFC team and the bills win this game,
you've got to worry about Mahomes and Josh Allen and Lamar
for the next blank.
There's a certain element, if you're a fan of any other team,
that we don't have one of those guys.
It's going to be tough to pull off whatever we're trying to.
It's the, you know, whatever that stat was,
whatever that stat was that, you know, what was it, Tom Brady,
Ben Roethlisberger, and Eli Manning were in every Super Bowl
for like 20 years or something.
Something like them and Breeze or something appeared in the conference
championship weekend every year for whatever.
If Josh Allen does it, he's proven enough.
He's had a really nice season.
He's good.
He's got all the talent.
It makes sense.
But I think winning this game over the Chiefs and going to the Super Bowl
would bring it to another level that if they lose,
I'm just not going to put them in because I don't think they're on the level
of the Chiefs.
That's just where I'm at.
So I don't know.
Tune in.
Kind of the NBA vibe, going back to what you just said,
because like there was, is the streak over?
It was like there hasn't been a finals without Shaq, LeBron, Tim Duncan.
Oh, yeah, there was something like that, right?
Like 25 years or something, 30 years now maybe.
Was it?
Yeah, I mean there's something like that.
It's like you throw Kobe in there and that rants it out.
We'll look those up.
Maybe if you know those stats,
leave them in the comments as we head towards that part of the show.
So that's the football.
I mean Sunday should be a really fun day.
We'll be live on the Twitter probably interacting, live tweet-tweeting.
Watching.
I've seen some people hop into the chat late.
If you don't know, yes, we are under siege.
The watching baggages are under attack.
We're working on it.
If you or a loved one knows anyone at Game Show Network, please get in touch.
But, yeah, we'll see.
Because watching baggage is one of the most fun things we do here.
We have a really nice community that's into it.
And, yeah, right now the YouTube channel is under attack,
and they kind of threaten the other channels too.
And JJR and the other stuff on the channel has been doing well,
so we'd love to not lose the channel.
We'd love to not do that.

but if you could subscribe over there.
Wake and Jake is the channel name.
We've already tripled the subscriber count during this episode.
Look at that.
You guys are the best.
Shout out to the bakers.
Pinned comments pinned.
You guys are the best.
BBD, let's do a little NBA catch-up.
A little bit.
Because you and I, A, want to do this.
B, it's almost NBA season.
I mean, we've got two football games this week.
There's a bye week before the Super Bowl, then the Super Bowl.
Like after Sunday, there's one football game left.
So we want to dip our nose in to the NBA a little bit,
get you guys catch-up standings.
We did this quickly last episode.
I mean, what are the big stories in the NBA right now?
Brooklyn Nets have taken over.
Harden, Kyrie, KD.
Look out when we get to the playoffs for some conspiracy theories
on getting that Lakers-Nets matchup.
Okay.
What's going on in the West?
Is it just L.A.s again?
L.A.s.
Does anybody really care about other stuff?
Bradley Beal's doing his thing, and it just kind of doesn't matter.
The Wizards are still big bad.
Yeah.
The NBA is about to turn on Luka, I think.
I was on this early.
I was on this early, and I'll bring it back,
and I'll see how mad the people get.
He's been able to fend this off with his play.
Luka's awesome.
It kind of came out of left field because with foreign players,
we just don't know.
You never know if it's going to perfectly translate.
And Luka's been awesome.
They had the number one offense last year.
It clicked immediately for him once he came over.
When you become an NBA star,
there becomes a point where you start expecting wins,
and then you become overrated, or your team fully sucks.
And if your team fully sucks,
then people in NBA circles start to not like you.
Luka complains a lot, which, again, a lot of NBA stars do.
I mean, a lot of NBA stars do.
So I don't know.
Just keep an eye out for that.
If the Mavs don't pick it up soon, right now they're .500.
They're the ninth seed.
You might see the NBA turn on Luka a little bit.
I don't know, BBD.
What are the other stories?
I looked at the stats, and it's like, okay,
Clint Capella's grabbing a lot of rebounds,
but I don't think people care about that.
I don't see.
I mean, the Rockets are bad,
but they had the whole Harden stuff, and bad guys.
How about this?
You know who leads the league in assists?
I think you're looking at it right now.
I am.
This number was a lot bigger a couple weeks ago.
Nikola Jokic.
The Joker leads the NBA in assists.
He's a seven-footer.
That's insane, huh?
Luka Doncic's number two, so while I'm poo-pooing him,
maybe he's not doing his.
Three of the top five are not like the traditional point guard mold.
Yeah, Trae Young right now, three.
God, how about Jokic, man?
I mean, the Nuggets have won some games last year.
Jokic, Andre Drummond, league in the lead in rebounds, sure.
Go Cleveland.
This is a Cleveland pot now.
Cleveland Twitter's pretty wild, huh?
Sir Yacht, Gab Goody.
I don't know if I'm saying that right.
I always thought it was Gowdy.
Gowdy?
That would probably make more sense.
Cleveland Twitter's hot in the streets, man.
They got some personalities, man.
People get active there.
Go Cleveland.
Good for you guys.
LeBron hasn't turned it on this year yet.
Not in Cleveland anymore.
Yeah, not in Cleveland.
Used to play in Cleveland.
That's a big fact from BBD.
LeBron's kind of just chilling.
Do we care about the Sixers yet?
The East is still pretty congested.
Ooh, I like that.
How about this?
Let's free Bradley Beal.
Yeah, get Beal somewhere else.
He's leading the league in scoring 34.9 points a game.
That's a big number.
Right now, KD's second, 31.
If they hadn't done the Harden trade,
that's got to get him or Beal talk.
Let's get Beal somewhere.
Get Beal somewhere.
Let's get Beal somewhere because him just being in Washington
in the prime of his career is a disaster.
He's been in trade rumors for...
A while.
Truly, as long as I can remember.
As long as I've been understanding the NBA on any level.
It's a Beal to the Lake show.
Maybe anywhere except the Lakers or Brooklyn.
Get a new team.
Yeah, get a third.
Get the Sixers to be that next level.
Yeah.
What's left on Beal's deal?
I think he's got a big one.
He signed a max extension at one point.
Does he have all of that left?
I follow Beal and his wife on Instagram.
Upcoming contract extension.
Kamiya Adams.
There's two more after this year.
And Bede scoffs at Smart's foul call.
Zion's getting buckets.
We're a pro-Zion pod.
I'm a pro-Zion guy, BBD.
You're a Zion guy?
Yeah, I was really excited for him to be a Knick.
When it was like our destiny to get him.
They finally tanked right.
I like RJ a lot.
Zion grabbing 23-8.
Guys, I'll be honest.
The headlines right now are Brooklyn.
The LA team's figuring it out.
We're going to start diving into NBA more.
I don't know what else there is to cover right now.
Jokic leads the league in assists.
Look out for some Zach Levine legit trade rumors.
Stinky Zach Levine.
I think he's going to be...
Is he a free agent this summer?
Someone's going to get him.
The Knicks might get him over the summer.
Even if he's not the answer,
he's a contract that you can trade for a guy who is.
Check out talking Knicks.
His numbers are kind of...
He's putting that up.
The Bulls don't matter.
It just stinks.
Just looking at the top 10 list.
Larry Nance leading the league in steals.
Doesn't stand out as a guy that would lead the league in steals.
Yeah.
The blocks list.
Miles Turner there.
He's a full step ahead.
Go check out talking Nets.
Go check out talking Knicks if you're into those teams.
Again, we're going to keep diving in.
A little further into the NBA each week.
We'll just...
There's one way to eat an elephant, PBD.
It's one bite at a time.
We'll start easing our way into the NBA.
Swap Wiggins and Levine.
Sure.
Do it.
That's fun.
They need a clay replacement this year,
and Wiggins is not it.
Levine's got a set of gourds on him.
At least.
That's a quick basketball recap.
We'll be checking in more.
Getting into that chat.
You guys are beautiful right now.
Everyone's talking about watching from Facebook
or going to save baggage somehow.
You guys are the best.
I love you.
Speaking of you guys being the best...
Actually, baseball's hot on the streets.
A lot of guys are being signed.
We're doing talking baseball in a little bit.
Go check that out.
You guys are the best.
That brings me to the comment of the day.

My man, Sam Heim.
Active.
Big fan of John Boy Media.
We're big fans of him.
BBD, last episode,
went on my little rant about
offensive and defensive head coaches
and how pro football
focused. They're hell bent.
People are locked
into them because they are really good
at football.
They stand very firmly that you should
only hire an offensive head coach.
That drives me nuts because
you're missing the point.
It would be sick if you could get the right
candidate, and they are a good offensive
head coach, and you pair them with
a guy who might be a franchise quarterback.
Yes. Yes, I get it.
The voice you want in your quarterback's ear,
you'd like to keep that consistent.
Get the best head coach
for the job. Sam Heim
said, I know this is a couple days late. I hope it gets
seen. Bang. The stigma around
hiring defensive head coaches needs to go away
now. Think of all these successful
defensive-minded head coaches. Pats and Belichick.
Yep. Bills with
McDermott. Yep. Dolphins
and Flores. Flores has
taken the Dolphins out of the dumpster.
That franchise stunk.
Titans with Vrabel. Steelers with
Tomlin. Ravens and Harbaugh.
I thought about that when he was a special teams
coach. Still
half plays. Washington with
Ron Rivera.
Seahawks with Carroll. The other thing
I'd say for this list is Seahawks with Pete Carroll.
Russell Wilson helps
a lot. Big Ben
with the Steelers has helped.
Josh Allen coming to fruition. Tom Brady.
Blah, blah, blah. But
it's the whole point.
Get yourself a good head coach.
Get yourself an offensive system
that works. If your offensive coordinator
gets hired away
because your team is winning football games,
that's good.
That's good.
I think Pro Football Focus,
their big thing is they're looking
at sustained winning.
If you just get so lost in
sustained winning, you forget about winning
initially,
then you're dead.
You're dead in the water.
I don't know.
Don't let perfect be the enemy of
good.
Ryan Rucco.
Aristotle.
Thanks, Sam.
If you've got a sports conversation you want to talk about,
I think we mentioned this because Sala got hired
by the Jets.
He's the hot candidate.
Everyone's wanted him.
He's hot.
We'll see what's going on there.
Thank you, Sam.
I was surprised he didn't end up with
the Lions.
There was a ton of connections there too.
His parents still live 10 miles
from the stadium.
I felt like that was going to happen,
but the Lions have been a dumpster fire
forever.
Thanks, Sam.
That brings us to the Bro of the Night.
Says do an ad read. I'm not. I already peppered you guys.
Watching baggage. Promo code Winter.

YouTube channel. Go subscribe there.
That was an ad by not being an ad.
That's called being show.
The Bro of the Night award goes to
someone who had a great performance
or someone that just
kind of needs to be
talked about. BBD. And you know who I
want to talk about? Dadgummit.
I want to talk about Phillip
Rivers. Phillip Rivers
officially retired.
One of the
best retirement PR
statements I've ever seen.
I mean
the parts where it starts to get really fun.
I appreciate the opposing
defenses making it challenging
physically and mentally
every week. I also enjoyed the banter.
If you haven't seen the
Phillip Rivers mic'd up stuff, go watch it.
I mean it's hilarious that some
of the words he replaces curse
words with.
Thanks to the fans in San
Diego and around the nation that
cheered and booed me.
The teammates
and then the shout out to his family.
It's kind of been a joke for
a little bit now, but
I mean, it's a family.
Wife and best friend Tiffany.
Children. I think it's Holly,
Caroline, Grace, Gunner, Sarah,
Peter, Rebecca, Claire, and Anna.
That's nine spot on the board
for Phillip.
You know, we talked
about the old men
quarterbacks. We've talked about Big Ben
in retirement. We talked about Drew Brees
maybe playing his last game. Brady and Rogers
playing in the last game.
Phillip Rivers, man.
It took me a little
while to kind of figure it out.
He lost a lot of those
close football games and he was in
San Diego.
I don't know. While these other guys
were winning a lot of Super Bowls, Phil Rivers
was never getting there.
I think part of it was those other guys. I think
a lot of it was San Diego, man.
That franchise
has struggled for a while.
Now they're technically LA
and that's weird.
I think organizations, as we see
throughout sports, and you guys know is one of the things
I'm passionate about, top down.
You see good ownership and bad ownership
and it affects the whole organization.
I think Phillip Rivers
was fighting from behind in San Diego
a lot, literally
and figuratively.
He's retired, man, and the sport's
going to miss him. He's nothing but entertaining.
I fully
didn't get Phillip Rivers at first
and maybe you're someone out there that doesn't either
but go watch the tapes of him
talking smack and just how intense
he is and without the swearing
makes it this weird
world that doesn't make sense almost.
It's a lot of fun. Congrats
to Phillip Rivers on retiring.
Interested to see if
he's up to anything in retirement.
He doesn't seem like a booth guy.
He's got nine kids. I wonder
if he shows face at all or if it's just
like, oh, haven't seen him in forever.
Good for you, Phillip Rivers.
It was a weird
situation for him with the Chargers just kind of
always being weird. The one year they did put it
all together because I think, what, 2010
they had the number one offense and number one defense
but missed the playoffs because
their special teams was awful.
Yeah.
The year they full went
for it.
My bro of the night
is Revenge Games.
It was the game of the night which I
usually try to avoid
but Jared Allen
Yeah.
Big loss for the Nets. They could still use him.
Torrey and Prince, they both have nice
games for Cleveland in their
first game against the Nets
again.
Jared Allen finishes with
12 points, 11 boards
and 31 minutes off the bench.
Torrey and Prince drop 17 points out of nowhere.
Three of five from deep.
Four assists, seven boards.
I assume strong defense.
He did his thing. And an underrated part
of the Revenge Game, Colin Sexton
his 42 points in 38 minutes
including
22 in the overtimes.
He was the Nets draft pick
that they traded in the Garnet
Paul Pierce trade.
Flipped for Kyrie
who plays for the Nets now.
So
a little mental gymnastics to get there.
Colin Sexton, Revenge Game
He's awesome.
Having a blast.
Jared Allen with a couple big plays
after he had fully entrenched himself
in Nets fans hearts, but he was the sacrifice
he made.
Yeah, I would do the trade
if I were the Nets too.
Wish I didn't have to leave
but I'd have done it.
I get it.
Larry Nance.
Let's miss Jared Allen.
They do.
They're gonna get a center. They'll figure it out.
People were talking JaVale McGee. We'll see.
Beautiful BBD.
Beautiful Wake and Jake.
Beautiful Bakers.
Again, keep
tabs on the John Boy Jake
TV saga. Hopefully we'll have updates
for you guys soon.
Hashtag save baggage.
But while that's happening
there's so much other stuff on the network.
We did talk in Yanks yesterday.
Talking Baseball coming up.
A few signings. The Brantley thing was crazy.
Jason Castro just signed.
So we're doing Talking Baseball.
GM files. Go check that out.
Talking Nets. Mance played baseball.
And we did JJR yesterday.
