Well the Padres got off to kind
of a slow start offensively.
But if you look to it April 20
it's all of a sudden the Padres
started turn things around.
They got a superstar back that
day.
The twins are hoping this
return to their home ballpark
will be just what the doctor
ordered to get things back on
track.
Walker toes the rubber to two
starts against these twins last
season as a Red Sox pitched
well one to know with a one
point six four P.R.A.
Slowly roll towards third
Baird handed and in time nice
play by Manny Machado able to
run in and barehanded kind of a
do or die play and Manny does
Carlos Correa.
He just got Machado.
Here's Michael Taylor and
there's a base hit to the
opposite field.
What's the order over and Max
Kepler.
This is down and he'll fill for
first base and Kepler draws a
two hour walk.
So two on two out.
And here comes Correa and Papa
right side Jake Cronenworth is
there.
The grass makes the catch and
Michael Walker works out of it.
He strands a pair.
Here's one Soto first pitch
swinging driven to right field
going back for it as Kepler is
going to be over his head and
off the wall.
Juan Soto rounds first he's
heading for second digging for
two and he will cruise in with a
one out double one is two for
two second one out no balls to
strike swung out and missed
Bogart's waved at a ball outside
strikeout number five.
And Carpenter walked in the
second inning and that is in the
right field a base hit from
second base comes Soto.
He will score as the throw is
sort of cut off.
It was knocked down by Karell
off and the Padres have grabbed
the game's first run.
Walker working with Lee for the
first time in tonight's game.
And then works out a walk.
And a four pitch walk who's had
a great chance in Cleveland with
a hit batter to walks nobody out
and got nothing out of it.
See how they fare this time with
Polanco coming to the plate
lines it's a left Soto moving
back and making the catch to one
one away Jose Miranda do the
left field corner deep to the
wall.
Fairball staying in the park
Kirov being held at third it's
an RBI double and we're tied and
now Gallo Hitlerson twenty four
at bats hit to the outfield to
put the twins up three one and
a swing and a miss needed that
and a grounder towards Bogart's
and shortstop his throw in time
and the inning is over.
Twins will tie it up on the
Miranda double and strand to
Michael Taylor made a nice
running catch will lead off on
the ground slowly hit Machado
racing in barehanded again and
he makes the play again.
He has made two of those
barehanded do or die type plays
at both times.
Manny does bring up Manny
Machado and he has struck out
twice tonight against Varlan to
the five K's Varlan has Machado
takes it the other way in the
right field a base hit out of
the reach of Polanco at second
base one out single for Manny.
He's going again and that's ball
for Soto with a walk and the
Padres have two on with one away
such a big guy to get here with
left hander Matt Carpenter on
the deck.
Varlan may be nearing the end of
his night if he can get Bogart's
changeup got him to down check
swing roller up the line and
Miranda makes the play and the
inning Miranda with a bare hand
nice play all on Machado and
throws out Carpenter for the
third out almost three times
through the order he had turned
over to Griffin Jackson Jackson
face the bottom third of San
Diego's lineup Kim Grisham and
Nola one to pitch check swing
grounder by the mound and over
is Carol did he get the foot
down.
No he did not.
And Kim reaches and we are in
the seventh inning you get the
leadoff man on and could be a
big big turning point in the
game shows but pulls it back
takes ball for his first two
Padres who breached here in the
seventh inning after the first
to reach for the Padres in the
seventh to get Austin Nola
Nola coming up next let's see if
Nola is going to lay one down
here Nola squaring pulls it back
taking off for third and getting
there is Kim one one gets it
down fair this time here comes
Cam and the pitcher goes to
first they do get the out but he
had that play in front of him
and may have had a chance to get
Kim but instead the Padres take
it to one lead the heads up base
running by Hassan Kim pays off
in a huge way and a runner in
scoring position as Trent
Grisham is now standing on
second on the sacrifice and
Fernando Tatis Jr. at the plate
now one out of the inning and
Fernando grounds with a short
stop they will flip the second
and get Grisham who is off the
bag kind of froze and they're
able to get that lead runner so
poor base one at that time by
Grisham not grown on worth.
There goes Tatis the pitch is a
ball the throw is going to get
through in the center field so
Fernando just keeps on going
stolen base and an eight two
two will get him to third.
That's why you've got to love
the pop up slide second air the
inning this one will be charged
a basket.
And that is ball for Cronenworth
down to first base second walk
in the inning allowed by Jacks
and the ball gets away and
coming in from third is Tatis.
Wow Padres he'll take a three
one lead down to third and ends
up hit him hitting him.
So the Padres have scored two
runs in the city without the
benefit of a base hit.
That's hard to do.
Two errors have been given to
Christian Baskin in this in and
there have been three total
errors in the inning defensively
for the Twins.
It's been a mess from Minnesota
and now Luis Garcia enters
first man he'll face is Joey
Gallo.
That'll work right off the end
of the bat but he powers it
through the infield for a lead
off single and that breaks an
0 4 twenty five and this twins
team that's kind of what you
needed to have happen here after
that sloppy top half of the
seventh base hit for Gordon
softly in the left field and
sound like it was right off the
end of the bat but it'll work
first and second for the top of
the order.
Twins are trying to rally down
three one bottom seven Luis
Garcia is out and on the pitch
is right hander Steven Wilson.
He offers that and strikes out
Steven Wilson with a big strike
out there at Kepler.
Number two and now it's up to
Correa Danny and Carlos was in
this spot earlier tonight third
inning two on two out there was
no score at the time it popped
out and now a big at bat late
tonight.
Swung on a miss strike three
heater upstairs foul tip held on
by Austin Nola.
Steven Wilson comes in and
punches out both batters that he
faces that put an end to the
Twins rally in the seventh Alex
is lined out bounce down and
walk tonight his second game of
the season and he takes ball
for all of a sudden just like
that you get the time run come
to the plate here and Jorge
Polanco.
It's a fly ball to center field
Grisham moving back back
pedaling.
Plenty of room makes the catch
for out number two the one to
swing and a miss strike three
got a foul tip held on by Austin
Nola and that'll do it for the
Twins.
There's a liner in the center
field for Nolan a base hit a one
out knock for Austin Nola
Tatis and the pitch struck him
out swinging and Machado hoping
to get a chance here in the
ninth inning with two outs.
That's inside ball for a
Cronenworth has walked again and
Machado will get a chance with
two outs.
He does drives one to deep left
field back goes Gallo look it
up and that ball is very good
into the second deck for Manny
Machado.
It's a three run home run in the
Padres take a six one lead
Manny's in Minnesota and the
folks here are starting to make
their way to the exit six one
Padres as Juan Soto looking for
his fourth knock comes to the
plate to right center field and
it's in for a base hit the
fourth hit of the night for Soto
first four hit game as a member
of the San Diego Padres his
first four hit game since
September 11th of twenty twenty
one.
Tim Hill the new pitcher for the
San Diego Padres with the five
run lead.
No need for a hater shot to
second base Kim to the back and
throw to first.
That's the ball game and the
Padres are able to take game one
of the series the final Padres
six the twins won.
