London 🇬🇧 to Accra 🇬🇭 | Turkish Airlines🇹🇷 Flight Review | December in Ghana | Travel Vlog

Hi Jersey fam, welcome back to my channel. I hope you are all doing well. Yes, it's another December and Ghana is the place to be. Everybody is going to Ghana and here is why. The Ghanaian Tourism Authority introduced December in Ghana to promote tourism and drive people to Ghana which is increasingly becoming a destination for Christmas and the New Year celebrations. So amongst other incredible festivals is the Afrocella which is an interactive festival celebrating the culture, the arts, fashion and music. So in this video I'm going to be sharing with you my trip from London to Accra via Istanbul and I'm going to be using Turkish Airlines today. We are already in the air and I couldn't film much at the Gatwick airport because I was running late. Apparently you are supposed to fill a health declaration form if you are coming to Ghana and so I'm going to link the link down in the description box below and you are supposed to fill your COVID status and so if you are vaccinated, if you are not, there's a form you are supposed to fill and so I am vaccinated and so I chose vaccinated and filled the form and you are going to generate a code after you fill the form. It automatically generates a code which they are going to use to check you in and so if you don't do that, you are going to be delayed a little and in this case I was already late and so I am thankful I was able to go through the process and yes because of that I couldn't film much at the Gatwick airport and so we are already in the air and we were served with pasta or chicken option and I went for the pasta option and I was able to show you the chicken option as well. So the flight duration from London to Istanbul is four hours and I had about 16 hours layover at the Istanbul airport. Yes it's a long wait but I had the opportunity to film more on the Istanbul airport and so look out for that in my upcoming videos and I'm super excited that I'm going home to Ghana. I'm excited. Yes it's been a while and I can't wait to see family. I can't wait to attend programs and just chill, relax and enjoy myself. Of course Ghana is my home. I just came on holiday in London and I'm going back to Ghana and yes it's a season that I also work a lot as a makeup artist and a nail tech. I get more clients during this time and I'm super excited to cash in. Yes so we've landed at Istanbul airport now. So one new thing I observed at the Istanbul airport was that there was a gate that led international transfers directly to the airport unlike before where you have to go through security again. This time around it was not the case. We went straight to the duty-free area and because I had so much time, I'm just going to show you brief shots of the Istanbul airport and then I'm going to continue my journey from Istanbul to Accra. So I already bought perfumes and I still had to buy some as gifts for people back home and so yes I had to shop some perfumes at this uni free duty-free space and yes this is one of the areas that you can you know rest or wait for your flight if you want to take a nap or you want to sleep for a little bit. You can use any of these areas designated for that and these areas had charging ports so you don't have to worry about charging your phone. You can find somewhere at the airport to charge your phone and I'm going to show more of that in my upcoming videos of the Istanbul airport and so far please watch out for that. So they had this food court and so I went there before my flight to Ghana to find something to eat because it was the next day at the airport and yes I was definitely hungry and I had to get something to eat before my flight. So we got to the Istanbul airport at night the previous day around 11 p.m local time and we left there around 4 p.m the next day so you can imagine I had to find something to eat and so yes this is a view from the top where the eatery is. They had so many food shops or food places or brands to you know get something you want anything you want to eat you can get it and they had pockets of you know cafes scattered around the airport if you want a cup of coffee, juice, you know Istanbul treats or Turkish treats yes you can also get those as well and have a feel of the culture and they had all these designer brands also available at the airport. So my gate was finally ready and I'm heading towards the gate now and though it was still a long walk to the gate I had time and so I needn't rush so I took my time and enjoyed the walk as well as you know just the view of the this beautiful airport. Istanbul airport has a lot of people traveling through it I mean there are tons and tons of people I got to witness this because I stayed there for a while and so I saw the magnitude of people coming through this airport and it was amazing it was incredible yes it's a beautiful airport a huge one at that and so yes this is one of the display screens you know where you can check your gate. So based on my last Istanbul airport video I've had a lot of questions from viewers and subscribers about how long it took to taxi how long it takes to walk to your gate and I'll say it depends on your layover if you have time you can relax like I'm doing now. Well it took us about 20 to 25 minutes to taxi and so if you get to the airport and your gate is available or is ready I'll suggest you go straight to the gate yes you don't really have that much time to you know shop if you do so do it quickly it's better to find your gate there are so many duty-free areas scattered or duty-free shops scattered around the airport and close to some of the gates and so it's better to find your gate and then do your shopping it's better to know your status than to waste so much time and probably miss your flight but I'll say if you have time that is if you get to the airport and your gate is not ready or you know how many minutes it's going to take for your gate to be ready you can take your time and you know shop or have a look around the airport before your gate is ready and like I said if your gate is ready it's better to get straight to the gate and when my gate was ready I'll say I took my time to walk to the gate but when I got there it took about five minutes for boarding to begin so you can imagine so if you're an elderly person for some reason you can't walk the long distance to the gate there are shuttle cards at the airport that you might want to use and it will depend on your pace as well if you walk fast the time will be shorter than someone who walks slowly so yeah walking to the gate I can't really tell how long it takes so many factors do influence the time and I also realized proximity is also a factor if your gate is closer you don't have to walk too far to get to the gate so it's time to board I'm on the plane now and I'm about to go to Ghana so the tray table had a cup holder as well at the back and it was also extendable and it also had cup holders on both sides so you can use it folded if you want more room and the leg room was okay again the plane from Ghana to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Ghana had leg rests or foot rests and you also insert the ear piece on the hand rest as well so we are about to take off now so the flight duration from Istanbul to Accra was 7 hours 20 minutes and the aircraft type was the Airbus A330 whilst the aircraft type from London to Istanbul was the Airbus A321neo so again I went for the pasta option and I really love their pasta so right before we landed we were served with some cake and sandwich and I really love the sandwich and this is Accra we are in Accra I'm super excited to be back home guys you have no idea how happy I am to be home yeah this is Ghana for you and we are about to land at the Kotoka international airport so guys we are in Accra now I am super super super excited to be back home the airport process was quite smooth regardless of the fact that they were trying to hassle us for not having a yellow fever card or yellow fever vaccination card but not everyone had it but they allowed them to go through anyway so guys to avoid time wasting please try and have a yellow fever card on you anytime you are visiting Ghana because the airport officials can get funny thank you so much for watching fam I do appreciate the likes the comments thank you for sharing and subscribing and also for liking this video and I can't wait to bring you more content until I see you in my next video stay safe and never give up love you all bye fam
