And here comes a guy who has had
a lot of success in his
relatively brief major league
career two plus seasons against
the New York Yankees and the
Blue Jays say John Schneider and
Ross Atkinson company say they
remain confident that the stuff
is ticking up.
It's about execution.
And now the headliner battle if
you will Manoa against Aaron
Judge.
High drive right field going
back Springer turning looking
Sia and his one nothing Yankees
Aaron Judge has gone yard here
in the top of the first off
Alec Manoa.
It is home run number nine.
Aaron Judge takes advantage
right away and he lines a ball
to left center.
That'll get down for a base hit.
Not the batter Willie Calhoun
left handed hitting D.H.
High drive right center field
going back Kiermaier turning
looking Sia a two run home run
for Calhoun.
It is three nothing Yankees and
the Yankees doing damage against
the Toronto A's here in the
first inning.
That pitch was belt high.
This is not Manoa that we saw
last year.
It's going to be Jimmy Cordero
been solid for the Yankees out
of the bullpen this year.
High fly ball left field Bowers
on the run on the track.
He makes a play side retired in
order by Jimmy Cordero.
Welcome back to Rogers Center.
Well you just never know who
you're running to here at the
home of your Blue Jays.
It is Bill's superstar NFL
quarterback Josh Allen.
He's very humble.
Welcome.
I hear you this is your first
visit here.
First visit here.
Yeah not not to Toronto.
I love Toronto.
The city's awesome.
The food's fantastic.
The people are great.
There's nothing to not love
about this.
But yeah I'm excited for my
first Blue Jays game.
It's been a blast so far.
I got to take some BP earlier
shag some some balls in the
outfield and it's been it's been
a blast.
You know I haven't been following
baseball all that much but I'm
trying to get back into it and
obviously Toronto being such
close proximity to Buffalo.
Yeah it makes a lot of sense.
I love the Blue Jays.
I love baseball and I'm glad I
got to be here today to outbase
it for Aaron Hicks swinging a
high fly ball center field.
It's pretty deep.
Kiermaier is on the track.
He's near the wall.
He leaps and he makes the catch.
It wouldn't have gone out.
Kiermaier went leaping in front
of the baby blue line pulling
down one would have been an
extra base hit for Bowers and
Dalton Varsha is going to lead
it off line drive.
Oh number one.
Just on the other side of the
bag and then moves and jumps.
Great anticipation and
athleticism driven out to left
field on the run is Bowers and
he makes the play.
Nice play by Bowers defense
supporting Cordero in this
inning.
Wasn't sure he was going to get
there.
I'm not sure he thought he was
going to get there.
As you see he's a little off
balance almost jumped too soon
but good coverage.
There's Volpe to lead off struck
out in the first line and it's a
fair ball hit the line kicks off
the sidewall Volpe's going for
two.
The throw is not in time.
Alito double for Anthony Volpe
and a walk second walk of
Cabrera first and second.
Nobody out.
That'll bring up Higashioka line
drive.
It's a base hit to right field
cutting it off his Springer.
They're going to wave home
Volpe.
He will score moving to third is
Oswaldo Cabrera.
It's an RBI single for Higashi
Yoka and it's for nothing Yanks.
Well just outstanding back
control from Kyle Higashioka who
inside outs that fastball and he
walked him to load the bases.
So the count full against judge
with the bases loaded here in
the top of the fourth for nothing
Yankees checks the swing.
He does not go that a force in a
run.
Judge picks up another RBI
Yankees pick up another run.
It's five nothing.
He's trying to keep this within
striking distance down five zip
up the middle.
Bichette has it.
There's one and two.
And how badly did Alex Manoa
need that way outside.
With another pitch back to back
walks in this fifth inning.
He's not close right now.
And that's going to be the end
of the night and disappointing
outing for sure.
And now here comes John Schneider
seven walks tonight.
And that is a career high for
the last two years.
Been one of the best pitchers in
baseball swinging a high fly
ball out to deep left field
Barshaw getting back at the wall
squares up leaps into the air
crashes into the video board
making the play right as he
backed and crashed into the
scoreboard out there.
But he makes the grab.
The runners will advance line
drive right field Springer's
there tagging his Torres.
He's not going to come home.
The throw is cut off now second
and third two outs.
Now ground ball to third Matt
Chapman has it and across the
diamond to get Higashioka as
Nate Pearson comes on to get
three outs and strand the
runners.
The stolen base by Bowers opened
up the first base bag and the
Blue Jays said well a Pearson
will not challenge Aaron Judge
in this sequence.
So Tim Meza will come on.
This will be his 18th game.
So first and second for Rizzo
one man out line drive a base
hit to right center field
scoring easily as Bowers cut off
nicely by Kiermaier that'll hold
Judge at third.
It's an RBI double for Rizzo and
it's six nothing Yanks strike
three called for out number two
Torres thought it was inside
weekly hit up the first baseline
and Belt gets to it before it
goes foul.
Good play by Belt.
Here's Judge perfect night home
run three walks check swing at
the slider.
It's called a strike.
I certainly thought that pitch
was low.
So did the Yankee dugout and
Aaron Boone not happy with the
strike call and got tossed.
And when he's hot that's a crew
chief James Hoy coming down from
first base.
So Clint Bondrack hearing it
from Aaron Boone he certainly
let him have a say got his
money's worth fires the gum.
Let's see the gum for what do
you think about the delivery
sidearm.
Yeah good spin rate.
So Boone will watch the rest of
the game from his office and the
at-bat will resume between
Jackson and Judge deep drive
center field.
There is a monster shot over the
batter's eye a solo home run for
Judge and the Yankees lead seven
nothing.
It's hard to describe how far
this really is.
You can see Kiermaier and
centerfield just looking up and
where that landed up there.
That guy did not expect to get a
ball four hundred and sixty two
feet.
Sometimes you just watch him hit
a baseball and you're just
awestruck.
Not a lot going tonight for the
Blue Jays offensively.
They've been shut out on three
hits.
That's a fair ball over the bag
and down Matt Chapman will make
the turn and glide into second
with a double a little bloop in
a center field.
Good read by Chapman as it
drops in RBI base hit by Witt
Chapman comes in after his lead
off double Merrifield has
Toronto's first run driven in
pulls one out to second.
It's dropped but he is safe from
his knees fires Torres as the
runners move up they get Kirk on
what looked like a ground ball
that was going to be impossible
for Torres to make a play on a
little dribbler out in front of
the plate.
Brito from the mound fields no
look at third and he threw it
on a hop down to first Kiermaier
is safe and the bases are loaded
swung on ground ball toward
short Volpe has it flips to
second for one to first.
It is not in time or one scores
the Blue Jays score another run
but the Yankees do get it out.
It's now seven two Yankees
Bichette does it again Belton to
score Springer around the third
and it's seven to three.
The Blue Jays have scored three
runs here in the eighth inning
and they don't feel like slowing
down right now swinging a line
drive fading near the line base
hit Springer is in to score
Bichette racing to third Lottie
digging for second and he'll
slide in there.
The Blue Jays little by little
have climbed their way back into
this game a four run eighth
inning grounded to first Rizzo's
there and King allows the
Yankees to breathe a sigh of
relief and the Blue Jays are
down to their final out grounded
to first.
This should do it flips the King
and the Yankees win seven to
four.
So they're open to strategy
works to home runs by that guy
one four hundred and sixty two
feet.
