Now to some playoff magic. Sheffield Wednesday completed the greatest turnaround in football
league playoffs history last night as they came back from a 4-0 first leg deficit against Peterborough
to book their place in the league one playoff final. Darren Moore's side took it to extra time
with the last kick of normal time and they had to come back again as both sides scored
in the added 30 before Sheffield Wednesday won it on penalties to seal their place at Wembley.
It's just been a remarkable night of football really and a real never say die attitude by the
boys. David we prepared all week. I said you know we planned after the first leg and we got in
and we changed the mindset we'd been working all week on changing the mindset but doing some good
work in training and we did that and there was a real great belief even after taking penalties
we've done it all week in preparation so right through the stages of the game plan detail
segments in the game that we spoke about in goals preparation tactics all those things
were taken care of and it illustrates that when you prepare properly and in detail and
you want the performance we got that tonight and the goals came at crucial times but the
endeavour and the spirit was there and the togetherness was there and I'm just pleased
for everybody at the football club after that performance they deserve the Wembley
so you know we got to go again we got one more game to go and we focus on that one.
It's very raw as you can imagine to lose a game in the semi-final in the manner we did
it's very rough it is a cruel game at times. I have to congratulate Sheffield Wednesday and
Darren and his team and hopefully whoever was going to beat us hopefully they go you know I
wish them all the best in the final. What was the difference for you tonight than from the first leg?
Well no two games are the same and we knew this is a very rare place Hillsborough and league one in
terms of the momentum the place can give you we made some wrong decisions and then obviously
last minute of the game when there's like it's difficult as I imagine you don't want to be
sounding bitter because I don't but the six minutes we play eight that's not right
but congratulations Sheffield Wednesday. Real shame for Peter but that was absolutely amazing
from Sheffield Wednesday so obviously we're going to be asking you one thing this morning
your favourite ever comeback sport not just football by the way sporting comebacks a few
spring to mind immediately but let us know hashtag GMSF. Yeah there's some brilliant ones out there
isn't there so do get those coming in plenty to choose from this morning what's that penalty
shootout we both sat here feeling queasy no skin in this game and knew how it ended so Sheffield
Wednesday fans don't know how you are this morning and commiserations to Peterborough as well. I'll still be
out. I'll still be celebrating that is true right Jonathan Loo of the Guardian was a guest on
back pages tonight last night that Sheffield Wednesday game finished during the show so he
was unaware of the result until after the program had finished and we actually managed to catch his
reaction when he saw the score on Sky Sports News and he might be speaking for a lot of people.
Oh my god they won.
