Hi guys, welcome to our Ubud vlog. So we have just travelled from Uluwatu up into a bit more
north into Ubud. We stopped off at Tagananang waterfall. I think I've butchered it but we'll
put it on screen. It's basically a waterfall about half an hour south of the town of Ubud.
We really liked it, it was really pretty. It's quite a big waterfall and it wasn't
too hard to get to or anything was it? No, no and there's a lot of stairs so
but yeah it was really nice. We didn't go for a swim because it was really cold and we were just
like oh we don't want to sit in the car and be all like uncomfortable in our swim gear in the taxi
so we just didn't end up doing that in the end. Yeah, I definitely recommend it though. It was
really nice wasn't it and it was just so picturesque. It was almost like in a curve so
there was like a cliff all the way around the edge and it was all green and waterfall in the
a big massive swing because we're currently at what's it called? Tagalalang Rice Terrace.
So it's basically a rice terrace as you can see at the back but then on this side there are loads
of swings so we'll show you some videos of us on them but basically the swings are really good.
I had a wave but I was too scared to let go.
Right Giordano, what's the verdict? I absolutely loved that, that was so cool. I feel like you put
me to shame a bit. I clinged on for dear life and you were there head back, hands off. Yeah I feel
like yeah maybe if I'd have gone second I might have looked a bit braver.
As well as the big swing that you just saw Giordano enjoying and you saw me looking absolutely
terrified on, there are five or six other smaller swings that are all still really cool
for taking all the absolutely amazing views. There are also loads of nests and lookout points
that are great for getting photos for your Instagram if that's your sort of thing.
The rice terrace is roughly a 30 minute drive from Ubud centre and the entrance fee plus access
to all the swings is 250,000 rupiah per person. It can get very busy at peak times
so we recommend to go there first thing in the morning to beat the crowds and the heat.
We definitely recommend the rice terrace here, it looks really nice, it's really pretty and then
there's loads of swings that are really fun. So yeah definitely thumbs up from us. I think
after this we've got a few more places which we'll film and then tonight we've had, we've just had
lunch. I had mengi goreng, no was that? Mai goreng? Mai goreng, really nice chicken and noodles and
you had a chicken mango salad which is unlike me but I like chicken, it's not on trend at all,
I'm more of a pizza or burger guy usually but I saw, I like chicken, I like mango and it's so
warm I was like do you know what I don't know if I can handle a pizza in this, I'm gonna play it
safe although it had so much chilli on my mouth was on fire so it wasn't playing it safe in the end.
I was like panting like a dog at one point which probably wasn't a good look, I think I was showing
us both up but oh well. Yeah like I said we've got a few more things that we're doing this afternoon
which we'll film and then we're going to have, what's the pork dish? I can't remember, we're
having some roast pork which we'll show you later because it's supposed to be the speciality of the
region, yeah but it's supposed to be like a traditional Indonesian like favourite so and
then we've got loads more to show you in Ubud, the next few days we're going whitewater rafting,
we're going for a Balinese cooking class, we're going trekking up a mountain so got lots to do,
all sounds hopefully fun except the mountain I'm a bit unsure about, yeah a bit intense but
should be fun. So we've just got to Ubud water palace and we're just about to have a look around
they call it Swaraswati temple I think, yeah yeah, so yeah we're just going to have a look
around so we'll show you guys what we see and I know there's a performance so I think it's a
it says 7 30 what time is it now yeah so we probably won't watch that but yeah I think
you'll be just having a look around in the day it's free so yeah I'll have a look around and
it's right in the centre of Ubud like literally on the town street so a really good location for
for anyone who's staying in Ubud. Saraswati temple is a beautiful Hindu temple dedicated
to the goddess Swaraswati, the Hindu goddess of learning, literature and art.
Right next door to Saraswati temple is Ubud palace. Ubud palace was built in 1640 and was the
home of the royal family of Ubud. The heirs of the last Balinese king still live in the private parts
of the palace. Similar to Swaraswati, Ubud palace is also free to visit. It's been beautifully
preserved and you can still see all the ornate decorations and even the throne so it's well worth
a visit. So we've just pulled up at our hotel in Ubud, this is Wendy, he's really looked after us
he's driven us around all day and yesterday and the day before, some great recommendations so
yeah we'll put his whatsapp number down in the description so if anyone's traveling Uluwatu
or Ubud I'm sure he'll sort you out, he's a great guy. Thank you. No worries. Not sure how we managed
to do this but somehow we lost literally all of the footage from the hotel that we stayed at in Ubud
so here are a few pictures of Tirta Aram. We loved our stay here as it was relatively cheap, the hotel
was nice and clean and the owners were super friendly. It's maybe a 15 minute walk from Ubud
city centre, that's not a problem because the taxis are super cheap and the hotel does a regular
drop off and pick up at the city centre. If you're staying in Ubud we would definitely recommend
staying in Tirta Aram, we'll put the link in the description. After we settled into our hotel we
So we're just out at a rewong called Ibu Oka and it's our first time trying baba guling
which is a Balinese traditional dish which is loved by obviously the Balinese people
and travelers so we're gonna try it. Grant so what is baba guling? It's basically roast pork
and the crackling on the side usually served with rice in a Balinese sauce.
Yeah so we're gonna try it and let you guys know what we think.
There are quite a few Ibu Okas dotted around Ubud. We went to the one opposite Ubud palace right in
the centre of town. We both really liked baba guling and as one of the main delicacies of Ubud
we definitely recommend trying it out whilst you're here. Ibu Oka is one of the most famous
baba guling restaurants. It's nothing fancy but it's cheap and cheerful and the food's pretty
tasty so we reckon give it a go. We really hope you enjoyed this video. Remember to like and
subscribe to make sure you don't miss our next adventures when we continue our stay in Ubud.
