Welcome to Siargao. Check out this video to see why we think island hopping in
Siargao is one of the best tours we've ever done and why it should be an
absolute must-do for people visiting the Philippines. Where Jordana and Grant from
Shot in the Dark travel and from the bustling streets of Manila to the
stunning beaches of Boracay to the epic landscapes of El Nido, we're bringing you
a front-row seat to the magic of this extraordinary country. Hit that subscribe
button and let's uncover the beauty of the Philippines together.
So we're just on the boat now, our three island boat.
Unfortunately I had too many margaritas last night. I feel really sick so I'm hoping maybe like a bit of a snooze on the way there.
Like hopefully it's nice and not very choppy, nice and smooth, smooth journey
because I'm not feeling up to it at the minute.
So first stop is Naked Beach and oh my god is it beautiful. Oh my god the water
is so clear and like oh it's just gorgeous. There's lots of people around
but there's lots of spots where you can just go out out on your own and it looks
We absolutely love Naked Island. It's basically a tiny little island in the
middle of the sea with soft white sand and crystal-clear water. At this point we
would have happily stayed here literally forever.
I don't know how they're gonna top this. Naked Beach is beautiful. I've never been in this
like clear water before. It's stunning, absolutely stunning.
There's a lot of people here but you don't feel like it's overrun or anything. You've got all your space.
As you can see behind me there's quite literally no one. So yeah, I would definitely recommend this tour.
So we went for the private boat tour which means there's no one else on the boat.
With us normally there's like six people on a boat. We went for a private one and it was
£2,500 each so £5,000 for the two of us which isn't too bad at all really for a
private like full-day tour. It includes the food as well. We booked this trip for our
hotel but this is one of like the main like tourist things to do in Siargao so
you can basically do this from any travel company, any hotel will sort you out.
Jordana's getting ready for the snorkelling with the most just over-the-top
elaborate mask I've ever seen in my life. Yeah, she can't do anything without being extra.
So we finished at Naked Island now, we've just jumped on the boat and we're gonna go snorkelling in the
water here and then we're gonna go to the second island afterwards.
So we just got here for the snorkelling part of the trip and the guy was like I've bought you one snorkel
and I was like oh no that wasn't yours. He's like oh no we've not got any.
It's a boat trip, it includes snorkelling and the itinerary and he's not bought a snorkel
or goggles for us. To me that's quite a bit odd. So I can't believe I'm seeing this but if you're
going on a trip that is like an island hopping trip, ask them if they provide
snorkels and goggles and if not you might have to bring your own. Luckily Jordana
has, luckily Jordana bought her own. She bought one in Thailand so we have one
and then he was like we've got one pair of goggles you can have but we've got no
snorkels so luckily between us we can just go out and make do but make sure you
The second stop was Daku Island, another truly gorgeous island that looks like
it's straight out of a travel brochure.
Quickly checking out the island it was
time for lunch. We enjoyed a famous boodle fight which is basically a
Filipino sharing platter where you eat with your hands.
One of the best bits about the island hopping tour in Siargao is the
ridiculously good food. Like look at this platter we've got here. The food is
incredible. It's like we've got meat, we've got fish, it's all fresh. We've got the
fruit and veg. It looks absolutely incredible. Can't wait to tuck into this.
Taste a bit of chicken, fresh off the barbecue.
That is gorgeous.
This is gorgeous.
How amazing is that turquoise water? I've never seen anything like it. It looks incredible.
It's literally breathtaking. I've never ever seen water like this.
Honestly I can't believe how warm the water is. It's like being in a hot bath.
I've never experienced anything like this. I don't know where it's gonna top
Filipino beaches. I've never seen water so clear, sand so spotless and white and
golden. Where are we gonna go in the world that's gonna be as good as this?
It's gonna be really hard to go back to just going to normal beaches. How do we
go to Spain or Greece after we've been here and the water is so
turquoise and so clear? Nothing's gonna compare is it? I don't think anywhere in
Southeast Asia is gonna top the beaches in the Philippines. If this is what all the
islands that we're gonna go to is like, then they've won. They've won.
We were in a rush this morning. We were out very late last night. We had way too many margaritas.
And they were picking us up at 7.30 at our hotel which is quite an early start when you've had a work one.
So we were in a bit of a rush this morning. I forgot to put sun cream on.
I completely forgot and we've been out in the sun for like three hours and I'm going really red.
I don't know if you can see from here. I'm so pink at the minute. I'm worried by the end of today I'm gonna be a lobster.
We've just arrived at Guiam Island which is the third island on our island hopping tour.
And it's alright. It's a nice island but we were spoilt a little bit by the last two that were amazing.
It's just like a fairly small island. The water's really clear. Nice beach.
The thing that's a little bit frustrating is that there are so many boats.
So half the island's a bit rocky. Half standing and half a bit everyone's swimming.
And there are just so many boats everywhere so there's not that much room.
It's not a negative or anything.
But we're just making you guys aware that I think the two first beaches are the best.
And this one is amazing still. I've never been to a beach with such clear water.
But yeah it's small and there are a lot of boats.
So we're just at Secret Island. Obviously it's not a secret.
But basically they call it Secret Island because when it's high tide the island just disappears.
It's kind of like a sandbar. So you can't actually see the actual island.
But we're currently just stood up and it feels like we're just in the middle of the sea.
It's really weird because we are just literally in the middle of the sea.
But stood up it's really deep all the way around.
But just this bit in the middle it's like four foot deep. It's really odd.
And the sand's really soft and there's no coral or anything. So it's quite cool actually.
Yeah I really like it here.
This is our last stop. We're going to have a bit of a swim, a bit of a relax and then head back to the hotel.
And then carry on our relaxing and try and get rid of these hangovers.
One thing I've just remembered that I've got to say about the previous island
was that we would definitely recommend doing this as a private tour.
So it's normally like 1,300 to 1,500 pesos a person to be part of a group.
But if you pay 2,500 pesos a person you can just get a private boat, private food.
And for us it's just way better. We didn't like the last island as much.
So we were like actually we'll go and we'll just leave now.
And we'll go to the next place and have a bit longer there.
And you've just got a bit more flexibility.
If you don't do a private tour it's still going to be really good.
After making fun of George on his last, I've decided to give it a go myself.
Probably one of the best boat tours I've ever been on.
100%. When you're in Sagao definitely do the three island boat tour.
Don't miss out.
