I can't speak for anybody else, but I love watching Jokic play and he is dismantling
the Miami Heat, but Miami did get messy, so there's that.
We'll talk about both coming up.
They gotta stop missing shots.
Alright, over to the NFL.
According to reports, the Vikings have informed Alvin Cook they're going to be releasing
him.
Cook, a four-time pro bowler who has rushed for over 1,000 yards each of the last four
seasons.
Shannon, would you want him?
Sure.
I think he'd look great in that Denver backfield, but unfortunately I don't think they're going
to be in the bargain.
He's going to have his, I think he's going to have his choice of where he wants to go.
I still think he has juice in the leg.
He's going to put 1,500 career touches.
That's not a whole lot to give averaging almost 4.7 yards a carry.
I think he's going to have a choice of where he wants to play next season.
I see a little Zeke leaking into Dalvin's game, because I'm looking at three years ago
he averaged 111 yards a game, then it went down to 89, and then this past year 69, which
was career low, and he played in all 17 games.
Average per carry fell to career low 4.4.
Maybe he's starting to show a little wear and tear.
Would you like him as a combo back?
Yeah.
The days of singular back like we're used to seeing, I think those days are long gone.
Now, he's not going to get the money that he was scheduled to make, but five, $5 million,
$6 million, I don't think that's a whole lot of money for a combo back.
I know there's a lot to talk about.
Would Dallas be interested?
Oh, Dallas, y'all are interested in everybody.
We got Tony Pollitt, and we got Deuce's loose bond.
And guess what?
He's got no playoff wins.
Really?
That's what you got.
Huh.
We're going to have two this year.
Two this year?
All right, gentlemen, great stuff today.
We're out of time.
We'll do it again tomorrow.
The Hurd's next.
The Levin from heaven, ranked at the top past disruptor according to NFL.com.
The list was compiled based on next-gen stats that include quarterback pressures, hurries,
and turnover-worthy pressure plays.
Reigning defensive player of the year, Nick Bosa, comes in second.
Myles Garrett, third on the list.
Shannon, you jump in first. Are you surprised Micah finished higher than defensive player of the year, Nick Bosa?
Yeah, and I thought that's why Nick Bosa won the award, because he was more disruptive last year than Micah Parsons.
That's not to say Micah didn't have an outstanding year. I thought he had an outstanding year.
I think he tapered off towards the end, which indicates to me that he probably had something going on lower body-wise
is the reason why he got off to that fast start and kind of tapered down the stretch.
I think he just got one down.
And he was still productive, but not as productive as he was over the first three quarters of the season, Skip.
So for me, I'm looking. I mean, Bosa had more pressures. He had more hurries. He had five more sacks.
He had two fewer turnovers called by pressure. And so they say, what gets me are the turnover-worthy plays.
Either the guy turned the ball over or he didn't, Skip. That's what I base it on.
Because guess what? There ain't no general manager, ain't no owner playing somebody.
Man, you know, he had like 17 touchdowns-worthy throws. Did he throw a touchdown or not?
He had 17. Oh, he almost had 17 plays that were sack-worthy. Did he get the sack or not?
So all this, they need to miss me. I'm going to skip out.
Sometimes it comes down to did you or did you not? Because that's what sports is. You win or you lose.
So all this close and worthy plays and this and that, you can miss me with that.
But I thought Nick Bosa won the defensive player of the year award, rightfully so,
because he was a little more disruptive than Michael Parnes.
And that's not to say Michael didn't have a good year, because I thought he had a very good year.
Not a great year, a very good year, considering that I thought he was going to really build on what he did,
what he did as rookie year, Skip. I thought he was going to have like 17, 18 sacks. I really did. I really did.
So did I. I said he'd be defensive player of the year. He tailed off.
Nick Bosa won it because he should have won it.
Okay. Was I shocked by this? I was, but I was pleasantly shocked because I'm a big fan,
not only of his team, but of him. And I must admit, I was a little concerned.
I was a little sort of startled by his quietness over the last five or six games because he fell off.
He had one sack in the two playoff games, but he had one and a half over the last six games.
It's just, it's not Micah. It's not 11 from heaven. It's not my old Micah, my guy.
And yet, was he beat up? Was he worn down? Did he get engulfed by too many 350 pound offensive tackles?
Did he get chipped by too many sort of cheap shoddy blindside, you know, sneak attack chip blocks by those bags?
Sure. They just come and just sneak attack you, just bang on you and it doesn't feel good.
Okay. I got that. But the other day I wasn't real pleased when he was talking about, I want to focus on impact plays versus sacks.
And I said, no, you just own it because you're that dude, man. You got it. God was good. God said you can do this.
And impact plays, he wants to be more like Aaron Donald. Okay. I hear you.
But the truth is these stats back up impact. These stats are saying, yeah, that's exactly what you should focus on because it came down.
It was very close. And as the guy who put this together for NFL.com said that it was a narrow miss by Nick Bosa to be number one on this list.
Turnovers that were caused by pressure were the differentiator, says this article on NFL.com.
Micah had five of them last year and it was more than Bosa and it gave him the slightest of edges.
But I did love the conclusion because this says, I'm going to quote the article.
While Micah Parsons finishes the runner up for defense player of the year award for second straight season, his reputation has quickly been solidified.
Number 11 instills fear in every opposing offense.
I'm going to take that to my football bank because that's the truth.
Yeah. But you don't think Bosa does that? Does he?
Listen to my eye going down the stretch of the year.
And obviously they played against each other in the playoff game.
Nick Bosa is hellacious. That's sort of the eye test watching TV.
It just it just seems like the physicality of the force of it is a little beyond even Micah.
It's why I'm already going all the way out into the future.
It's why I got Dallas at San Francisco in the NFC championship game.
And I'm going to give San Francisco the edge at San Francisco because of Kyle and the run game.
I don't even know who their quarterback is going to be. I assume it's going to be Brock Hardy.
But I just think they're going to be really, really good.
And he's a big reason why. Yeah, but it's good to Micah.
I do see defensive player of the year years in his future.
It'll be interesting to see how he carries the additional weight that he wanted to put on 10 pounds a month.
And by the way, 10 pounds is 10 pounds.
You've got to get your body used to carrying it. You do.
Are you going to lose a touch of quickness? Explosiveness? Maybe. Maybe.
Will that serve you well down the stretch? Can you bang away a little better?
Take the beating a little better? Yes. I got it.
Listen, every time I watch him run, I'm just talking about running it.
He takes my breath away. I see these offseason runs. He's jacking around and racing somebody.
And I say, that's special, man. You just don't see it.
It's why as a rookie, he would do things.
Once a game, he'd do something where you'd say, that's it right there.
That's why we got a shot.
Next year, he went so far the other day as to compare this defense to one you know up close and personal really well.
The 2000 Ravens. I did a whole podcast topic on this because that was a stunning reach for him to make.
And I'm okay with it.
You said the rules don't allow you to do to quarterbacks what Ravens did or receivers.
But yeah, this defense, I think it's going to be the best defense in pro football.
And he is a big reason why, as is Dan Quinn.
So, I'm pleasantly shocked that this is saying what it says.
Yeah, I'm going to be pleasantly shocked if you guys win 500.
Really? Well, do you want a couple cases on that right now?
I'll take over 500 for 10 cases.
Nah, that might be 10 and 6.
Okay, well then you just backed off.
You want 10, I'll be 10 and 6. I mean, you normally, I see 12 and 5. I see 13 and 4.
They're scheduled about twice as hard as it was last year. Seriously.
So is Philly.
Are you the Cowboys or not?
Are they the Eagles or not?
Don't you worry about Taylor. Don't you worry about her. Don't you worry about the Green.
Don't you worry about the Green Machine.
I got 10 cases that Dallas wins the East. Just wins the East. That's all I got.
Y'all didn't win the Division?
Yes.
That makes it bad.
Bad? Thank you.
Good, well y'all didn't win the Division. Y'all the Cowboys.
Thank you.
Where y'all win anything?
Every other year.
They didn't lose the first round.
This is our year. This is our year. This is our year.
Yeah.
I want to see Micah Parsons in Week 2. Get after Aaron Rodgers and play the Jets.
