Leylah Fernandez vs. Asia Muhammad | 2023 Guadalajara Round 1 | WTA Match Highlights

Errors that have come off the racket. from Laila Fernandes. Deserving of the applause as she claims what ultimately was a pretty one-sided set. 6-1. There you go. Halting Fernandes' momentum for the moment with a good start to this second set. Smartly done just keeping her at bay and pushing her out wide again. Creating that space to finish off. Now well struck off the bounce by Mohamed. Well managed in the end. Fernandes did really well to trying to get the racket face under that ball and control it. Beautiful feel on that little shot. That first set she's the boss of this encounter. And again very sharp adjustments at the net. Difficult couple of those balls and a bit of breeze around all of a sudden. Amazing. What an angle. Laila Fernandes scores an impressive first win in Guadalajara. Some very special play from her at times. Very creative. Flying herself all over the court and putting far too much pressure on Mohamed. Ultimately for the American to try and handle. Nice start. Done and dusted in barely an hour.
