Hey guys, this is Robin and Lena from Venues and he's gonna tell you the craziest tour story in
the history of Venues. Yeah, well as you know maybe we are a band from Germany and
one of the craziest stories that we experienced so far is that we were booked for a show in Greece
and yeah, when we first received the request we were like super happy and it was like a super
big thing for us. Oh, it was before I joined them? Yeah. It was with the Knives back then? Yeah.
Was here? I think it was in 2018, yeah, 2018. Yeah, when we received this request from a guy
who told us that he absolutely loved our music and that he wants to have us playing in his club
in Greece in the Tesla Loniki and yeah, when we first received this email we were like wow,
that's super nice, totally crazy and would be awesome and he immediately offered us or
told us that he will take care of the flight tickets and yeah, that he will pay the flights
and everything and we just have to go there and play a show and he will like take care of everything
and it was like for a small band like us it was like super crazy because I've never been to
Greece before and so it was a cool opportunity for me to visit this country and yeah. But didn't
tell you that he's gonna take care of the equipment too? Yes. Like the whole instruments
and stuff. I mean one of our first questions of course was okay, how are we going to handle
all the stuff of our instruments like with the guitars, with the drum set and everything.
He was like a typical Greece guy and just told us guys, yeah, don't, just let me do everything,
it will be no problem and I will take care of everything and we were like wow, okay,
sounds good, let's do this. We got our tickets and the flights went well and we landed in Greece
and we had also some hotels and stuff, everything was cool. The next day we went to the club
where the whole show or the festival, the small indoor festival was happening
and yeah, when we arrived there it was like total chaos, like nothing was organized.
I think there were like 13 bands playing on one day and we were like the co-headliner,
so there was one bigger German band playing on this evening and they were also flying from
Germany to Greece on this day. If you have like 13 bands playing on one evening,
there's like a very tight time schedule where you have to be okay, now this band plays,
now they have to stay up next one place so that everything will work out in the end for,
especially for the headliner and also for us. Yeah, like they totally fucked up everything
when it comes to the time schedule because I think the first band started playing
two hours later than planned or something. But did you have a sound check?
Did we have a sound check? I don't think so. I think we had like a super quick line check
to make sure that everything works and our sound guy was like totally going crazy.
And I think in the end we played three hours later than planned or something like this because
the guy who booked us and like the organizer, he really wanted to have all of these single small
bands from Greece to be playing their full set and to play all the songs they want to have and
yeah, it was like, it was crazy. And yeah, I mean it was cool because there were a lot of guys and
they all really wanted to party and really enjoyed the music which was pretty cool,
so they really, there was a lot of energy and power and everyone wanted to have fun.
But yeah, this was the first big problem with all the like the time schedule was,
it was just a joke. Because I mean we are Germans and we are always on time. Yeah,
and we know how to handle these time schedules and always be on time.
The next big thing was that he promised us that we will have like two guitars and a bass guitar
and also a cool drum set which will, yeah, which will be fine for us. And in advance he asked us
what we want to have, our guitar players and our drummer. And yeah, they really gave some like a
detailed overview of what they want to have to play this show. And then what we ended up with
was like a total joke. Like especially our drummer, I think he got like, it was like a super
cheap random drum set, like super low quality and a lot of stuff was missing. And yeah, I can
remember he was pretty angry. And yeah, nothing was, yeah, nothing was there. Because we thought
okay, cool, this guy will really take care of, because we gave him so like super detailed
information of what we want to have. And that was like, like as you ordered it on Wish.
And yeah, this was the next big joke on this show. The third point that was like a total **** up
was the backstage. Because I mean there were like, yeah, 13 bands playing on one evening which
was like, I don't know what this guy was thinking when he was planning this evening,
because there was like no space, no backstage rooms or anything. Yeah, when we
joined the backstage room, we were like pretty surprised in a negative way, because it was like,
I don't know, maybe like two square meters or something. I mean at least we had this,
we didn't have to share this backstage. But it was like for six people back then, it was,
yeah, we had no space at all. And then when the bands started playing, it was like so
******* loud in this backstage. It was like impossible. It was louder than
the front of the stage. So I had no idea how this was even possible. But yeah, it was like
an absolute nightmare. And we had to prepare ourselves in this room and get ready for the
stage. And you couldn't even understand each other, because it was like super loud. And
yeah, it gave us headache and all that. And the whole show and the whole festival was like
super, like a real rock and roll experience. But you played the show? Yeah, we played the show.
And it was actually a cool show. We had a lot of fun. The fans really enjoyed it. For us,
it was an adventure in general. And yeah, pretty cool experience. But if you are used to these
German or European shows, it's like super different, because there's like
there's like no real schedule at all. They just, yeah, they look when is who arriving,
and maybe we can do something here and there. And yeah, somehow it will work.
