Astros vs. Mariners full Game Highlights from 9/26/23, Presented by #Sport #Astros #Mariners #Highlights
We welcome you to the Pacific Northwest tonight from T-Mobile
Park in Seattle, Washington, on a cool Tuesday night, the Astros
and Mariners continue this three-game series, a critical
three games for both teams.
Kirby making his second start against the Astros this year,
and his 30th start in total tonight.
Let the game win it this year, 3-5-8, ERA.
Ground ball right side, past France, and glove by Rojas.
His throw will be not in time.
Altuve beats it out with an infield hit.
That was a pretty good play by both Josh Rojas and George
Kirby, Kirby hustling over there to try and cover first base,
and Rojas actually gave him a pretty good throw,
but I think just the speed of Altuve gets him into first base
to get this game going with a knock.
So it's an intentional walk of Kyle Tucker.
That loads the bases with one out for Jose Abreu.
Soft chopper, Geno charges.
He's coming home in time.
Altuve out at the sign, the set, the 0-2 pitch.
Swing and a ground ball to short.
JP has it, the throw to first, and it's in time to get Diaz.
George Kirby gets to the other side of that tightrope.
He gets out of a bases loaded one-out jam.
Christian Javier looking to back up what Justin Verlander
started last night with his great outing,
and Christian Javier also looking to build off his great
outing last time against Baltimore.
And he beats him with another fastball.
Ninety-four and a swinging strike.
JP Crawford goes down for the first out.
He got him up.
There you go, fastball up.
Christian Javier with back-to-back strikeouts.
There's some different movement on that fastball a little bit.
It's typically we see him just ride straight up.
Watch how this ball comes out of his hand,
and it rides up and in.
It's the 0-1.
And Raleigh pops it up on the infield,
playable for Altuve moving to his left.
Still on the infield, Dirt makes the two-handed grab,
and it's a 1-2-3 inning for Christian Javier.
As soon as Mike Ford delayed it off against Christian Javier,
struck out three of the first six that he's faced.
This is through the right side.
There's a fastball that caught a lot of the plate.
And Mike Ford gets the Mariners' first base hit.
First base runner. One-two pitch.
Here it comes. Swung on. Hit to the right side.
Base hit into right field.
Ford will settle down at second base.
So just like last night, guys at the bottom of the order
coming through with a couple of base hits.
Ford at second. France at first.
Rojas is at the plate. Top of the order is due up next.
Swung on and hit the right field.
Tucker going back on the track.
Reaches up. Makes the catch.
Bangs into the fence.
Ford tags. Goes to third.
He slides in safely.
Ball gets away and into the well.
And that should get the Mariners a run, and it will.
The Mariners have a 1-0 lead here
in the bottom of the third inning.
And because it went into the camera well,
Ty France is going to move all the way to third base.
Impeccable play by Tucker out there,
but the relay throws were not good.
The throw comes in.
Ford is able to tag it back.
Altuve gets to it, and then the third high
over the head of Bregman.
She mentioned into the camera well,
and the Mariners get the first run of the game.
Altuve just airmailed it.
Well, he bounced into an inning-ending double play
last night with the bases loaded.
One out. Runners on the corners here
in tonight's third inning.
A mile high.
Alvarez has one out.
France tags. He's on his way home.
Crawford tiptoes into second base.
A skyscraping sack fly off the bat of Julio,
and the Mariners now lead it 2-0.
Here is Yiner Diaz
with 23 of those Yiner bombs this year.
Two outs, nobody on.
Kirby has retired 10 in a row.
Swing and a miss for strike three.
Make it two strikeouts for George Kirby.
He has retired the last 11 Astros hitters in a row.
One, two, three go the Astros here on the top of the fourth.
Here's Mike Ford who led off the bottom of the third
with a solid single into right field.
Runner goes. Here's the pitch,
and it's lined to right field.
Tucker makes the catch.
That'll be a double play as Tucker gets up.
Lobs one over to first base with the runner going.
It's an easy double play for the Astros.
Coming in. Nice little sliding catch.
Get that double play with the runner
taking off at first base.
Good play by Kyle Tucker.
Rojas on second.
He's singled and stole a base.
Julio Rodriguez on first with two outs.
Cal not to play. Two outs, two on.
Broke him back down the right field line.
Drop in. Fair base hit.
Rojas pedals home.
Throw to third. Julio is safe.
Ball gets away, and that moves Cal into second,
and Julio will score.
Another ball disappears.
A gift-wrapped run for the second time by the Astros,
and the Mariners do open it up.
It's 4-0 in the fifth inning.
Well, the 3-0 count, they let Cal swing away.
He gets his base hit down the right field line.
Hard hit ground ball. Pass fragment.
Cal Raleigh scores.
Teoscar Hernandez keeps the line moving,
and he drives in the Mariners' fifth run tonight.
And it's just what the Mariners really needed.
Wanted to have a lead, but had to add on to it.
Dillon here at three this time,
and Dillon Moore is going to be called on to pinch hit
for Mike Ford as a D-H.
Swing and a miss. Got him on a slider in the dirt,
and that's all for Dillon Moore.
He strikes out as the Mariners leave him loaded,
but they score three times.
Here's Alex Bregman.
Bregman in the air, out to right.
Teoscar Hernandez on the track at the wall.
I'll be Teoscar Hernandez!
Julio loves it.
Teoscar Hernandez's juice for John Singleton,
and nobody out.
And now John Singleton pinch hitting
for Martin Maldonado.
Hits the ball on the right field.
Should be deep enough to score the run.
Teoscar will make the catch.
Yeiner tags and goes home.
They'll make it a five-to-one game.
Singleton picks up a sack fly as a pinch hitter,
and the Astros get on the board.
Good job by John.
Brack's ready.
And throws him!
Two outs.
First pitch to him.
Swing on, hit to the left side.
He gobbles, throws to second.
That'll do it!
They get the fourth and second.
Mariners give up just one run.
And here is Ty France looking to get something
going with two outs.
France plunks this out to left center.
Rising back, they get six-to-one.
Chas McCormick will be the first one to face him.
Oh, man.
Munoz, after missing wildly in the other batter's box,
hits Chas McCormick in the back.
That was a kidney shot.
Chas slowly walking down the steps.
And now back to the top of the order,
and Jose Altuve, who's two for four tonight.
Punched into right field.
That's going to be down for a hit.
Astros get a run here.
It's six-to-two.
Altuve with his third hit of the night.
And the Astros get one on Andres Munoz,
as Jordan, with 31 straight games, will get another A.B.
Into center. Julio.
Ranging back.
Puts the squeeze on.
And they take game two at home against the Astros.
