Welcome to the Reality Revolution. I'm your host, Brian Scott. I'm very excited
to introduce you to this powerful guided meditation influenced by Houston and
Masters. In 1982 they began doing work on the imaginal body and as I have done
some meditations utilizing this concept, I have transformed my understanding of
my energy and it has helped my health. It has helped me to travel astrally and
completely changed the way I understand my body and my mind. What we are doing is
awakening your imaginal body. Our goal is to harness the power of the imaginal
body to help healing and manifestation. We are energy beings living in a
physical body. The physical body is your structure, your flesh and your bones. The
imaginal body is not imaginary but is one of subtle energy. You are able to
connect with your imaginal body to promote healing and balance within
yourself or help heal others. We exist in an energy continuum within and around
us. Imaginal body work takes this concept of energy and dives deeper into
promoting healing for the physical body. You can use imaginal body principles to
bring healing balance for yourself to aid others in their healing journey to
awaken your energy body and it also awakens new energies within you.
Imaginal body work is not new information or thought but came from
the Egyptians ancient wisdom and practices. The Egyptians believed in the
way of the five bodies which included the physical body, the imaginal body, the
dream body, the magical body and the spirit body. We can apply this ancient
wisdom to explore new ways of healing the body, mind and spirit. I find it
interesting that entomologists use imaginal to describe what happens inside
the chrysalis when a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. They
suggest that tiny imaginal cells invade the caterpillar which makes the
butterfly transformation happen. The imaginal cells invade the caterpillar
body, a battle ensues and the caterpillar body turns to mush and
becomes peaceful. Then a miraculous reconstruction begins and transformation
occurs. This event is anything but imaginary. The outcome is the beautiful
butterfly recreated, transformed with the purpose moving forward. We have
something similar to imaginal cells waiting for a trigger, a conscious force
to guide our transformation. I believe this work is fascinating and the
possibilities are endless. In every kind of system of spiritual training there's
the activation of an imaginal body. The creation of a second body that is an
imaginal body and then learning how to do movements with that imaginal body to
affect your primary body so that eventually the imaginal body becomes
able to perform actions to heal the physical body. So you will have a second
body that can work on you, a double of your physical body. This sounds strange
and esoteric but I assure you this is very profound. In shamanism this imaginal
body is used to travel to distant places to get information and disciples of the
shaman use this teaching to transform into any variety of different creatures.
So find a place where you can escape from the outside world, place your feet
on the ground. I'm gonna ask you that you imagine that you are sitting
opposite yourself, facing yourself. Now this experience maybe just be a faint
notion of what it would look like to be able to see yourself facing you like a
mirror, a physical being or it can be very vivid in detail seeing yourself
facing yourself as a physical being. So for a moment try to get that you are
sitting opposite of yourself. You have a sense of that body that is you sitting
opposite in front of you. Imagine now that your consciousness is rising above
your body and looking down at those two bodies sitting opposite of each other. A
real out-of-body experience. You can see your body and your imaginal body facing
one another here in this room. Bring your consciousness now back into your real
body and now imagine yourself lying down somewhere in front of yourself, lying on
your back with your hands at your sides and your palm turned down. Your feet are
slightly apart, totally relaxed. Now begin to turn your right foot in your
imaginal body, just in this body that's lying in front of you. Turn the right
foot onto its right side and then bring it back to the middle. Keep doing this.
The right imaginal foot to its side and then back to the middle. Notice that as
you do this, you rotate your right hip out also, bringing your right foot as
close to the floor as you can with your imaginal body and then bringing it back.
Being aware still of the hip turning at the same time. Even feeling the floor, the
real floor with your imaginal right foot as it turns on its side and then
back to the middle. Now stop. Now flex and extend the toes of your imaginal body.
Flex and extend the toes. Feel this in your imaginal body of the right foot.
Experience that sensation. Now flex and extend the right ankle of the imaginal
body and feel just as clearly as you can your imaginal body. You're not imagining
your body doing this sitting down, you're imagining yourself doing this lying down
in front of you. Sensations are all with regard to the body that's lying in front
of you. Now make some circles with the right imaginal foot by rotating the
ankle. Do it one direction for a while, then circle in the other direction.
Remember that all these movements are performed by the imaginal right foot.
Now bend both legs of your imaginal body so that your feet are standing on the
floor and your knees are bent and wrap with the ball of your right foot on the
floor and do it rather vigorously and notice where you have to place your foot
in order to do it. You may even hear the imaginal body wrapping on the floor.
Now wrap with the heel and notice you'll have to bring your foot into a different
relationship with the bottom of the floor and your ankle. Alternate between
the ball and the heel and notice how you have to move your imaginal leg as
you do so. The ball and then the heel and the ball and the heel. Your whole leg is
moving as you do this. Now just pick your foot up and down a couple times, keeping
the leg bent. Just pick the foot up and down. Stay alert, stay awake, stay very
focused in that imaginal body as the foot goes up and down and up and down.
Now let the right leg stand along the left one and let that right imaginal leg
fall over to the right side, approaching the floor as closely as it will and then
bring it back. Let it fall to the side and come back and fall to the side and
then come back and as you do that be aware of the movement in the hip joint
and the arc that the right knee makes in space as it goes over to one side and
then back to the middle. Just keep doing that and stop and pick the right foot up
and make circles with the right knee in the air with your right imaginal knee.
Circle in one direction and circle in the other and stop and bring the right
leg back towards you so that the top of the right imaginal thigh comes towards
your right imaginal ribcage and down and then back up, down and coming back up and
down and coming back up. Be aware of all the sensations in your imaginal body
and stop and wrap now with your imaginal right hand and leaving the right arm on
the floor and bending the hand at the wrist, wrapping on the floor and being
aware also of the sound your hand makes wrapping on the floor. Continue the
wrapping and pick up your entire arm and do it with your whole arm extended.
Making louder and louder wrapping noises with your imaginal right arm and stop.
Slide your right hand up and down along the floor. Do it by raising and lowering
your right shoulder, sliding your right hand as the shoulder comes up and down.
Feeling the floor beneath the hand and your arm using your tactile and auditory sense
to feel the floor. You are using your kinesthetic sense to feel the movement in your shoulder and
your hand and your arm and also your visual sense as you observe this imaginal body.
For a moment, let your consciousness become dual in two parts. You feel the body moving
as you identify with it and you also detach yourself from it and you look at it. You see it
moving, you can see and feel the movement simultaneously as completely as possible
until your imaginal body. Stay alert, stay awake. Now put your imaginal right arm out to your side
at shoulder height. Bend the arm at the elbow. Make many circles with the hand and the arm,
rotating at the elbow. Really feel the circle swish in the air. Make the circles in one direction
and then circles in the other direction. Make small ones and big ones, quick ones
and slow ones. Feel what is happening to the elbow and the movement of the hand
as it moves through space and stop. Very alert, very awake what is happening.
Put your right arm over your right chest. Let your imaginal palm rest on your imaginal chest
on the right side and raise and lower the elbow to the ceiling like the flapping of wings.
Raise the elbow as high as you can to the ceiling and then back down again to the floor.
Raise that elbow high again and feel how quick and light you can make that movement
in your imaginal body. Now instead of raising your elbow, slide your elbow along the floor,
sliding up to the ribs and back to the floor, sliding up to the ribs and back to the floor.
Your hand is still on your chest, staying alert, staying awake and put the arm down.
And now I want you to actually lie down on the floor with your real physical body.
Scan your body. See if you can tell that two sides are the same
or if one side feels longer or tilts more. What do you notice? What you may find is by
doing the imaginal work, you're actually releasing your real muscles. Noticing the
difference in clarity between the image you had on the right side and on the left side
and any actual difference in function. Now bend your knees and flap your arm.
Flap your right arm, flap your left arm. Feel the difference between your right eye and your left
eye. Noticing how this experience with the imaginal body has come to act on your real body
and changing its capacities for a minute. Walk around and see what else you notice.
Be aware of the relationship to gravity of the two sides of the bodies.
See if you can feel if the body on your right side has a different kind of energy feeling.
There's nothing to worry about for you will balance out naturally.
Now go back to sitting down. Make yourself comfortable. I'll show you a couple more
things and then we'll start to do shamanic work. Close your eyes and breathe right up the middle
of your body. You can feel a core line. There's a line that runs between your legs right to the top
of your head, right along the middle of your body as if breath is coming in through your bottom and
back up through the top of your head. Keep breathing until this feeling is well established
that your breath is moving up and down your center. Just feel that and the feeling is
well established that your breath is moving up and down your center.
Imagine your second body sitting opposite you or laying down on the floor so that while you're
doing that breathing in your physical body, try to do the same thing with your imaginal body.
Feel through dual consciousness the breathing into your regular body and your imaginal body.
Sometimes it's easier to do if it's facing you. Sometimes it's easier to do when laying down.
Sometimes you can have the imaginal body floating above you as if it's above you.
Get the same sense of breathing through the center line of your imaginal body as you do
through your regular body. Now make sure that imaginal body is now sitting opposite you and
actually bend your legs so your feet are standing. Feel your imaginal body sitting right across from
you. Just your feet are on the floor. Now let the right leg of the imaginal body drop over
and come back. It drops over and comes back, drops over and comes back. Keep it going.
At the same time, bring the left leg of your physical body, drop it over and then bring it back.
See if you can do both of those things together without sacrificing the awareness
of your imaginal body. Your left physical leg is going over and back and your right
on your imaginal body is going over and back like a mirror. Be very aware of the
movement in the imaginal body at the same time. Now stop. Scan your body as you sit there.
See whether the right side is still different than the left
or more symmetrical. As you remain seated, let your imaginal body get up and walk around.
It can walk around any space it wants to. It can go outside, it can go to Africa,
it can go to the moon, it can walk on the bottom of the sea, wherever it wants to go.
Just observe it walking around and feel yourself in that body. You can walk on top of the mountains
observing your imaginal body as it takes this trip as though you're in an out-of-body experience.
See if you can see the body that is here as well as the imaginal body at the same time and see if
you can see out of the eyes of the imaginal body so that you can see through it and what the
imaginal body itself would actually be seeing as it makes this journey. Keep moving it around
into different parts looking at it from outside and exploring the environment from within the
imaginal body. Try being aware of every sensation, the contact of your foot on the ground, of your
imaginal foot, the bending of the imaginal ankles, the knees, the hip joints, the hands,
the elbows, the shoulders, how you carry yourself, your posture, how you breathe.
Be as completely aware of both yourself and the environment as you can be. It is as if you're
doing a mind focus exercise. Doing it with your imaginal body now and stop. Now make yourself
comfortable, close your eyes and once again place the imaginal body on the floor in front of you.
This time we're going to do a little work with the left side very quickly. Some of the things we did
with the right side, having the imaginal body lie down in front of you, working with your imaginal
body, your legs are straight, your arms are at your sides, palms down. Take the left leg of that body
to the outside so that the outside of the foot touches the floor beneath you. Keep on doing that,
keep on rotating the left hip joint and stop that and flex and extend the toes of the left foot.
The imaginal body senses very clearly what you're doing. Now flex and extend your left ankle. Flex
and extend the left ankle. Now bend both legs of the imaginal body, place the feet on the floor,
wrap with the left imaginal heel. Now wrap with the left imaginal ball of the foot. Do that a few
times and stop. Let the left leg drop over to the side and bring it back to the middle. Your left
imaginal leg, continuing as far left as it will, working with the imaginal body. Now extend the
right leg as you do that. When you take the left leg over to the left, let it come over to the right
one until it lies on top of the leg and goes past it. So your left leg rotates all the way to the
right and all the way to the left and stop. Bend the right leg again so that both knees are standing
on the floor. Wrap on the floor with your left hand just by bending the wrist. Now make it louder
by raising the entire arm and slapping with your hand. Make it louder, noticing that it gets louder.
Notice the vigor with which your whole actual left arm is going up and down. Then let the left
arm rest at your side like the right one and make some circles with your hand on the floor.
The palm of the imaginal hand inscribing circles going in one direction, then in the other
direction. Now move your left arm, your imaginal arm, up and down. Slide the hand up and down along the
floor. The shoulder moves up and down and sets the feeling in that shoulder. You also feel the surface
beneath your hand. Use the tactile imaginal sense so that you're actually learning something about
the floor as your hand is moving up and down along it, along this imaginal floor. So at one point
you're aware of the floor and at another point you're aware of the imaginal hand. Then place
your left imaginal hand on your chest with your arm out at approximately shoulder height
and raise the elbow towards the ceiling and flap it like a bird up and down, up and down,
up and down. Flapping and now flap it the other way. Move your elbow up and down your arm
towards your ribs and your shoulders. Now add the right hand is also flapping up and down.
So both arms are flapping in the imaginal body, up and down, flapping, flapping like a bird is
flapping its wings. And suddenly you feel your body is the body of a bird and you feel that you
are now in the imaginal body of a great bird soaring in the heavens, flapping its wing. Feel
the wind in your body as you're soaring in the sky. See what else you can feel. Be aware of what
kind of bird you are, what you look like and feel the flapping wings swirling in the sky, looking
down at the land beneath you. That bird, that powerful bird vision. You see the water and
whatever else is there flapping away with your imaginal body as a bird. Sometimes just extend
out the wings and hover and float in the sky and enjoy that experience. Flying and then cease
movement as your consciousness hangs suspended without form until you find yourself in the body
of a large cat, a tiger or a lion, whatever you feel yourself to be. Be aware of being now in that
body of a large cat, the power of it, the grace of it, whatever else you feel. Feel the beautiful,
live, huge, powerful legs and you're moving so fluidly and perfect. See what that consciousness
feels like. Just see looking out of its eyes. You can compare it with being a bird. You are in the
cat consciousness. How do you move and how do you feel? What do you smell? Losing that body and
letting your conscious hang suspended and finding yourself now in the body of a great serpent,
an enormous snake. Feeling your body undulating and slithering along the earth with its tongue
darting in and out. Sensing the texture of the earth, the smell beneath your body and around you.
Noticing what you see and how you see and what you're aware of. What consciousness is in the snake
as it differs from being a great cat and a bird.
Feeling the skin of your body and eating as a snake. Then with your consciousness hanging
suspended once again, you find yourself in the body of an elephant, the body of an elephant
and feel that enormously massive body with your brain high up off the ground.
Oh, what does it feel like to move? What does the earth feel like with your giant feet?
How does the world look like to that being? And find your consciousness in the spirit and body
of a whale. Sense it's moving and leaping through the water. What do you hear? What do you see?
What is your experience? How do you perceive other whales? And leaving now the body of the whale,
find yourself back again in the body of a bird flying over the elephant and the cat and the
serpent and the other creatures as well as over the sea and enjoying the feelings of the wings
flapping and flying. Let the flapping stop now and just glide and gliding and finding that as you
glide, you glide no longer in the body of a bird, but you are in human form. You can fly. You move
your arms like the flapping of a bird's wings and see that your arms are carrying you through the
just as a shaman flapping your wings or gliding with your arms extended. Look down at the ground
and notice the shadow that you leave like a strange cross passing over. Now see if by yourself
you can assume several other different forms that is quite creatively transforming your
imaginal body into other kinds of forms or gods or archetypes or beings that experience
this sensation of whatever you transform yourself into. It can be a gnat or a flea, whatever you want.
Sense the emotions and the feelings, the sensations of these figures, be they archetypes or insects,
whatever you want. Be rocks, gods or goddesses. Identify it with them as completely as possible.
where you are just lying there. Bring your consciousness back to the physical body seated
there and let your imaginal body rise up out of your consciousness and walk around the room.
And sense your movements very clearly, the sensations and the environment, the lovely lake,
the sun. It's become easier now to move into that imaginal body and experience it. Run around,
leap, roll, jump, plunge into the water if you want. Let that imaginal body be agile and free.
Feel what it feels. Feel the interesting, pleasurable experiences of your imaginal body
and let that imaginal body spin. But as it spins, it spins itself into an optimal form.
Optimal meaning that your real body could attain it. It's feasible. Your imaginal body becomes
strong, limber, full of energy. Let it find its optimal form with an abundance of health and life
and run around with that abundance, full of health in your imaginal body. Run around and feel its
feelings. Let your imaginal body come back to you where you're sitting there and now merge with your
imaginal body. Drawing itself into your physical body until there's no distinction between the two.
You experience it all at the same time together. This is in your ideal, optimal, healing, healthy
body with energy and abundance of life transmuting, transforming your physical body. Telling your brain
what to do in order to experience abundance or health so that healing can now take place.
Sensing clearly your own body, your own physical body, but feeling the imaginal body, the sense,
the taste, the touch all at the same time. Feelings, thoughts with a fullness of life coming into your
everyday body. Open the physical eyes and move around. Gradually begin to move sitting there.
You can stand, becoming more and more alert, relaxed. Get up and move around,
becoming wider and wider, awake. As you move, you can sit back down. Now you are free to explore
your imaginal body. Explore it in any form and go to any place that you wish and imagine whatever
you want. Take this extra time to fully imagine and enter in to your imagination through your
the information that you've just gained enter into your body. Feel yourself synchronizing with
your imaginal body. Now go out into the day with an awareness that this imaginal body
is there to help you. You can use it. You can guide it. It can do things for you. You can travel the
worlds in your sleep and in the astral realm. You are connected to it and you are consciously aware
of it now. This is the beginning of your journey into many wonderful realms of your imagination.
Welcome to the reality revolution.
