Welcome back, it's Ernieve Kitchen and today we'll be doing a peek-a-boo glitter pen using UV resin and a UV light.
I hope you enjoy.
All the supplies needed will be linked in the description below, so just check it out.
Like you would with your tumblers, we're going to go ahead and prep our materials.
So we're just going to disassemble the pen and make sure you save all those pieces.
And then you're going to use either a sanding tool or just good old-fashioned sandpaper and sand it down.
Just so that we can get some good gripping with our resin.
Once you've sanded it down, make sure you go ahead and wash it with Dawn soap and dry it completely before getting started.
Go ahead and insert it into a dowel and spray paint it the color that you want the pen to be.
So using our UV resin as our adhesive, we're going to apply a thin layer all over the pen.
And then we're going to use that to adhere the glitter that we're using.
Any gold glitter will do.
I found this Game Changer on Amazon and I will also link it below.
But it is a UV curing box and it's typically used for curing your 3D printed items.
But I am using it for UV resin and it works out great.
You set it for 6 minutes. Well, the max I think this one is for 6 minutes.
So I set it for 6 minutes and then I hit it twice.
I have that little pink thing, which is really one of those nail polish holders that I just cut down
and made a little hole so that I can use it as a stand to put the pen in there.
You can put multiple pens in there, but just for the video I did one.
So you're going to set it for 6 minutes and you're going to let it spin in that box with the UV light shining on it.
And the way that that box works is that once it's open, the light turns off because you really want to protect your eyes
and skin from that light. So, you know, just make sure that you do that.
And then I'm a little extra, so I put a piece of aluminum foil over it too, just in case anything was seeping out the sides.
So after doing my 6 minutes times 2, I went ahead and pulled the pen out
and I'm ready to apply a thin layer to cover my glitter.
Once I applied my thin layer, I went ahead and put it back in the curing box for 12 minutes total.
I repeated this step one more time just to make sure that I had a nice smooth coat of UV resin on my pen.
And I'm feeling for stickiness or anything. It's not sticky. It's smooth and it cured perfectly.
Now obviously you know I'm obsessed with this bee pattern because I've done several videos using it.
But what is better than this duo right here? A mini iPad and the Cricut Joy.
So right now you'll see me designing my decals that's going to go on the pen.
And you want to make sure you measure the pen and measure the decals so that they will fit perfectly.
There is some trial and error. So you know, don't be discouraged.
But seriously y'all, if you are a crafter on the go, you definitely want to go ahead and get this little duo right here.
So I'm going to go ahead and cut my decals and then we're going to weed and decorate.
So just so you make sure your placement is correct, go ahead and assemble the pen back together.
And then for the peekaboo effect, you're only going to apply the vinyl that you want the glitter to pop out on.
So I'm putting the vinyl down because I'm going to spray paint over it.
And then once we peel the vinyl off, that's where the peekaboo effect will be.
Once you have where you want your vinyl placement to be, go ahead and disassemble the pen.
And you're going to spray paint it with the color of paint that you want over the peekaboo.
Once you have allowed your paint to fully dry, go ahead and get your alcohol ink out and just dab, dab, dab all over the pen.
Right now I'm creating that honey flow look. So make sure that you, you know, kind of do a little playing around.
It's not going to be the same. Just design it however you want.
And then make sure that dries, which it will very quickly.
Once it's all dry, you can go ahead and peel off the peekaboo vinyl so you can see that pop of glitter come out.
Creating that peekaboo method.
Carefully apply your final decals to the pen.
Once you've completed your decals, now you can apply two layers of UV resin.
So you're going to apply your first thin layer, let it cure for 12 minutes.
Do a second layer and let it cure for 12 minutes.
Once your pen is cured, go ahead and put it back together.
Your pen is completed and it's smooth.
Now let's go ahead and do a little bonus here.
We're going to go ahead and create a dashboard for our planner.
So I'm just going to use good old-fashioned epoxy resin and mixing equal part A and B.
And just kind of watch the process and see how we design.
So remember this is our epoxy resin, so this will need to cure overnight.
We're not putting this in the lamp.
But make sure that you carefully pour it into your blank and don't over pour.
Allow it to kind of settle on its own.
And that was a perfect pour for me this time.
Sometimes I run it over.
So just make sure you take your time and stop before it's full.
And there you have it.
You've got your little statement piece there where you have your planner, your pen, and a cute little keychain to match.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
Thank you so much for watching.

And I will see you next time. Bye.
