Yukkuri Reimu and...
Yukkuri Marisa.
Reimu, as the 15th Shogun of the Edo Shogunate,
do you know Tokugawa Yoshinobu, who became the last Shogun?
I know him.
He always appears in dramas about the end of the Edo Shogunate, right?
The one who was behind him was the 121th Emperor, Emperor Koumei.
Do you know Emperor Koumei?
I'm sorry.
I don't really remember the Emperor's name at the time.
At the end of Emperor Koumei, who had a great influence as a representative of the upper class, there is a theory that he was poisoned.
What? Poisoned?
That's a little unusual.
Then this time, I will explain the mystery of Emperor Koumei's poisoning theory.
Then take your time.
Emperor Koumei and Tokugawa Yoshinobu.
Although Emperor Koumei is a key man in Bakumatsu, he is rarely talked about and is not well known in reality.
What kind of person was he?
I will also explain the relationship between Emperor Koumei's death and Tokugawa Yoshinobu.
Explanation, thank you.
In 1858, after the Ansei War, the Edo Shogunate was not removed from office, and a treaty was signed between Taunzen and Harris in the United States at the time of the founding of the United States.
You mean the permission of the emperor?
That's right.
Emperor Koumei, who did not object to the new treaty with Perry in 1854 in the 7th year of Kaei, was decapitated at this time.
Why was he decapitated?
The fact that he had an affair with a foreigner was accepted as a trend of the time, but it was because he had a careful thinking about communicating with foreigners.
He was the most unlikable person in the court, and he disqualified Takatsuka Masamichi and seized the initiative.
And Emperor Koumei is just like a fish that has been watered, and his momentum is increasing.
When the Shogunate signed a treaty with the United States without a direct deal, Emperor Koumei took a strong position that there was no superiority or inferiority, and deepened the confrontation with the Shogunate.
The emperor and the shogunate were very close.
The end of the theater, which brought the two together.
By refusing to negotiate with a foreigner, Emperor Koumei, who increased his presence, took a bold action to put a seal on the Shogunate, which led to the Great Depression of Ansei by Tairo Iinaosuke, and its momentum decreased.
However, when Tairo Iinaosuke was assassinated around the Sakurada gate on March 3, 1860 in the 7th year of Ansei, the situation changed dramatically.
It was the shogunate that began to move to measure the policy of the emperor.
It's a famous incident that I've heard of both around the Sakurada gate of the Great Depression of Ansei.
The shogunate has said that it wants to welcome Kazunomiya, the younger sister of Emperor Koumei, as the heir of Tokugawa Iemochi, the 14th Shogun.
It's a so-called marital union.
The shogunate was no longer in a state where it could not regain its authority after losing its bond with the emperor.
Emperor Koumei will appear on the political front again, as requested by the times.
On the other hand, Yoshinobu Tokugawa was also in good spirits in Edo.
About half a year after Iinaosuke was assassinated, Yoshinobu, who was disposed of, was to take the position of the 14th Shogun Iemochi, who fought for the position of shogun.
Yoshinobu must have had a complicated mind.
Behind that was the power of Satsuma-han.
Satsuma-han, who had been in good terms with Yoshinobu as a shogun,
After Iinaosuke's death, through Kuyo no Ohara Shigenori, he was able to infiltrate Yoshinobu into the shogunate.
At the same time, he appointed Matsudaira Yoshinaga, a member of the Fukui Hanshu, who was also a close friend of Yoshinobu, to the position of political director.
Yoshinaga is also famous for being called Shungaku.
By sucking Yoshinobu and Yoshinaga into the center of the government, Satsuma-han seemed to be trying to have influence over the shogunate.
The decline in the power of the shogunate was not only driven by Emperor Komei and the emperor, but also by Satsuma and Choshu.
It also led to the opposition of Satsuma-han, who had not had political influence until now.
From this point on, the influence of the so-called Satsuma-han became stronger.
Yoshinobu was appointed to the position of shogun, but he refused to be forced to bear only the responsibility, and later looked back like this.
In general, the position of shogun, position of shogun, and position of political director in that theory are nothing without Tairou.
While already looking at the shogunate, Yoshinobu did not intend to join hands with the rising Satsuma-han.
Yoshinobu put Emperor Komei behind him, and for the first time he would find a place to go that was not his own.
If the emperor and the emperor were not on the side, they would not have been able to do it emotionally.
The deal with the shogunate by Emperor Komei.
Emperor Komei, who was brought to the shogunate, accepted his sister Kazunomiya as a substitute for the shogun.
In the 70s and 80s, he made a promise to refuse the so-called treaty 10 years later.
At this time, in place of Iinaosuke, the center of the shogunate was Ando Nobumasa, the shogun of the shogunate.
The promise with Emperor Komei would later make the shogunate suffer, so he made a modest promise.
However, before this promise, there was a bargain by Emperor Komei.
In fact, Emperor Komei made it a condition to return Kazunomiya to his family at first, and then to the foreign policy before Pellila.
Of course, Emperor Komei knew that it was difficult.
However, by making a strong position that he had never questioned and did not even recognize the peace treaty,
he succeeded in pulling out the answer that the shogunate would refuse the so-called treaty with a deadline.
It seems that Emperor Komei, who still can't rest assured, did not forget it.
It was the first time that the shogunate notified the prime minister of the answer to the request submitted to the shogunate.
Emperor Komei, who came to his senses, even intervened in the shogunate's personal affairs, such as speaking out against the Kyoto Shoshidai and its subordinates.
The shogunate, which wanted to uphold the authority of the shogunate, had no choice but to obediently accept Emperor Komei's request.
Somehow, the position of the shogunate and the shogunate seems to have reversed from before.
However, due to the decline of the shogunate, the position of the shogunate began to roll in the direction that Emperor Komei did not intend.
Satsuma, Choshu Ryohan, and Kuge also began to move to put the military power of the Ryohan on their own shogunate.
The first one to move was the Choshu Ryohan, Sanjo Sanetomi, and his sister Kouji Kintomura joined with Kuryoura of the Sonjo faction to increase their power of speech.
Emperor Komei did not even have the idea of eliminating the Tokugawa shogunate.
It's about trying to get a balance by making such an excuse.
Emperor Komei must have been afraid.
Choshu Ryohan carried out a radical re-election of the Sonjo faction as a result of the emperor's order not to fight with foreign countries, but for Emperor Komei, it was only a nuisance.
Emperor Komei's aim was only to emphasize the shogunate.
When Choshu Ryohan and Kuryoura of the Sonjo faction tried to take over the shogunate, Emperor Komei borrowed the power of Satsuma Ryohan and eliminated him.
At this time, Satsuma and Choshu were not yet allies.
This is the so-called August 18th re-election.
Yoshinobu was chosen as a member of Chogi Sanjo.
However, just by eliminating the Sonjo faction, it will not be able to contain political confusion.
Did Emperor Komei try to strengthen the power of the shogunate by re-election?
It's the all-star of Bakumatsu.
In November 1863, Emperor Komei wrote a secret letter to Hisamitsu Shimazu.
It means that everything will be decided by my freezing.
The emperor asked for a settlement, and a three-night meeting was held from the end of the ninth year, but it didn't go as Emperor Komei expected.
The problem was the next event, which the emperor ordered the shogunate to do.
It is to close the Yokohama Port, which was opened under the Japanese-American Treaty of Confucius.
In other words, it is a debate whether to continue the state of opening up under the Treaty of Confucius, or to abolish the Treaty of Confucius and step on the left.
Hisamitsu, Mune Nari, and Yoshinaga, who were open-minded, took the position that it was impossible to close the Yokohama Port once again.
On the other hand, Yoshinobu was the one who took the top position.
Yoshinobu did not allow the open-minded to grasp the initiative of the meeting.
And when the meteorite was opened at Miyatei on the Nakagawa River, Yoshinobu, looking at the three open-minded people, died as a great treasure of the country.
At the site of the meteorite.
That's a lot of work.
In addition, Miya of the Nakagawa River, who was secretly connected to Satsuma-han, is being attacked like this.
Miya, you were deceived like this because you trusted Satsuma, and a misunderstanding was born and a problem occurred.
I'm surprised that Yoshinobu's true intention was to be open-minded even in such a big fight.
The reason why Yoshinobu followed Emperor Komei's ideas.
Yoshinobu's father was Nariaki Tokugawa of the Mitohan clan, a symbolic existence of the upper class.
So, although he did not openly reveal his thoughts, Yoshinobu had the idea of opening the country early on.
Nevertheless, there were two reasons why Yoshinobu followed Emperor Komei's ideas in deciding the destination of this country.
One is that Satsuma-han could not allow him to lead the politics.
What is the other reason?
Another reason is that Yoshinobu was not only the father's Nariaki, who was a fierce upper class.
Yoshiko, his mother, was the daughter of the Mitohan clan in Arisugawa.
In other words, the blood of both the Tokugawa family and the emperor was flowing.
Therefore, he was destined to be involved in the conflict between the shogunate and the emperor.
Wow.
It's the worst scissor.
After seeing such a situation, Nariaki, the father, always told Yoshinobu this.
Even if you are going to turn against the shogunate, you must never turn against the emperor.
Yoshinobu followed exactly that teaching, and he never turned against the emperor even at the third and fourth meetings.
Yoshinobu, who broke the meeting, took over the post of shogun, and in March 1864, he was appointed to the Kinri-goshuei-sotoku.
Ki? Kinri-goshuei-sotoku?
Kinri-goshuei-sotoku is a role to protect the imperial court.
Yoshinobu is an influential member of the Tokugawa family, but he approached Emperor Komei, and the two built a close relationship.
The threat of Choshu and foreign countries.
Before Yoshinobu was appointed to the Kinri-goshuei-sotoku, Aizu Hanshu's Katamori Matsudaira took over the Kyoto Shogoshoku.
Katamori Matsudaira is also famous for appearing in the dramas of the Byakko Corps.
After that, Sadaaki Matsudaira of the Kuwana Hanshu was appointed to the Kyoto Shoshidai.
In other words, today, Yoshinobu Tokugawa of the Kinri-goshuei-sotoku, Katamori Matsudaira of the Kyoto Shogoshoku, and Sadaaki Matsudaira of the Kyoto Shoshidai.
The three of them decided to strengthen the defense.
This system is called the Ichikaisou Seiken.
Hitotsubashi, Aizu, Kuwana.
The Ichikaisou, while hiding the battle with the Bakkaku, competes with Emperor Komei to lead the politics in Kyoto.
What are you trying to protect Kyoto from?
Emperor Komei was worried both internally and externally.
The Kyoshu group, which boasted political influence in Kyoto, was once eliminated by the Seihen on August 18, but the Sanyo Council was disbanded by the Yuyoku Shokou.
Since the Shokou of the Koubu Gattai faction, such as the Satsuma faction, had left Kyoto, it was not surprising that the Kyoshu group would come to Kyoto one day.
On the other hand, the threat of foreign countries was approaching.
It is highly likely that he will negotiate with the emperor in the face of the Bakufu, and it is undeniable that Emperor Komei, who hates foreign countries, did not lose his temper.
On July 19, the current year, it became a reality that Emperor Komei was worried.
Aiming to eliminate Matsudaira Katamori of the Kyoto Shogoshoku in Aizu Hanshu, the Kyoshu rebels attacked Hamaguri Gomon.
That famous Kinmon incident broke out.
It is also called the Hamaguri Gomon incident.
Emperor Komei was looking forward to the work of Yoshinobu, who became the governor-general of Kinrigo, but Yoshinobu was not actually that motivated to attack Kyoshu.
What? Then what is the expectation from Emperor Komei?
The reason why Kyoshu became the trigger for the Kinmon incident that failed today was the Ikedaya Incident that took place on June 5.
The Aizu Hanshu Shinsengumi attacked the Kyoshu faction, Tosa faction, and the Shishis at the top of Sonno.
The Ikedaya Incident is also famous.
What were the Shishis at the top of Sonno planning at Ikedaya?
It became clear by the confession of the Shishi of the Sonjo faction captured by the Shinsengumi.
It was like the following.
They set fire to Gosho and led the Seihen on August 18.
They captured Miyao in Nakagawa.
They assassinated Yoshinobu Hitotsubashi and Matsudaira Katamori and took Emperor Komei to Kyoshu.
That's a bold coup d'etat plan.
Yoshinobu, who was protecting Kyoshu, was also the target, but from Yoshinobu's point of view, there was no hostile feeling towards the Kyoshu faction.
When the Seihen on August 18, when the Kyoshu faction was exiled, Yoshinobu was away from Kyoshu and did not intervene.
After that, he and the parents of the Kyoshu faction, Mori Takachika and Sadahiro, were in the middle of exchanging letters.
In the first place, Yoshinobu has borrowed many soldiers from the Mito faction, and most of them are in favor of Sonno.
Yoshinobu himself was rather sympathetic to the Kyoshu faction, which was also in favor of Sonno.
On the other hand, Matsudaira Katamori, who was in charge of Kyoshu in the Aizu faction, thought that if the Kyoshu faction soldiers approached Kyoshu, there would be no choice but to punish them.
That's why Katamori couldn't get rid of his suspicion in his attitude of trying to talk as much as possible with Yoshinobu's Kyoshu faction.
Katamori and Yoshinobu deepened their confrontation in the first round.
I didn't know that there was a time when Katamori and Yoshinobu didn't go well.
The battle between Emperor Komei and Yoshinobu.
Meanwhile, the army of the Kyoshu faction, led by 1,500 soldiers, was approaching Kyoto.
They arrived in Osaka on June 20, about two weeks after the Ikedaya incident.
The next day, Kyoshu factions such as the Fukuhara Echigo Corps and the Kijima Matabei Corps came into the mysterious Kyoshu Faction.
And on the 27th, Kyoshu factions finally advanced to Tenryuji in Arashiyama.
Two days later, Emperor Komei ordered Yoshinobu to kill three of them.
Kyoshu factions must not enter Kyoto.
Even though Yoshinobu was so angry, he insisted on persuading the Kyoshu faction, not to suppress them by force.
Kyoshu factions are working hard to prevent Kyoshu factions from doing anything to Fukubara Mototake, who is the leader of the Kyoshu faction.
They are waiting for Kyoshu factions to retreat to Osaka for the time being.
However, it seems that Kyoshu factions were careful not to ignore Emperor Komei's intentions.
Yoshinobu placed first-hand soldiers in Fushimi, Yamasaki, and Tenryuji to strengthen the defense.
Yoshinobu did not fulfill his duty as the leader of the Kinri-Goshuei.
Even though Yoshinobu acted realistically with a sense of balance,
Yoshinobu's stubbornness that he did not give up on his own ideas was full.
That's stubborn.
However, Emperor Komei did not lose in his stubbornness.
On the night of July 3rd, Kyoshu factions were ordered to give up their lives.
It's a stubborn confrontation.
Furthermore, on the 18th, Yoshinobu was called under the throne, and Kyoshu factions were ordered to give up their lives.
With this, Kyoshu factions became a super enemy, and Yoshinobu had no choice but to fight.
I never imagined that I would be a super enemy in the future and that Satsuma Kyoshu would become an army.
Even Yoshinobu wouldn't have imagined it.
If you win, it's an army, if you lose, it's an army.
The gold gate incident happened the day after Emperor Komei gave up his life.
Emperor Komei's warlike attitude towards Kyoshu factions is that his strong anxiety is his driving force, and he never wavers.
Yoshinobu has a side that doesn't get angry until the decisive situation, but at the end of the day, he had the courage to break through the situation with bold action.
Yoshinobu is usually indecisive, and he's the type to do his best when it comes to it.
Satsuma faction rushed to Kyoshu and the battle around the gold gate ended in one day, and Kyoshu faction was successfully defeated.
In the midst of such chaos, Yoshinobu is struggling hard to get the gold gate.
When the remnants of Kyoshu faction rushed into Takatsuka Satei, Yoshinobu made the decision to burn Takatsuka Satei, and succeeded in delivering the last unit of Kyoshu faction.
From Emperor Komei's point of view, Yoshinobu was burned to the ground just before, and his joy must have been equal.
After that, he met Yoshinobu at Ogakumonju, and he hated Yoshinobu's army.
You can see Emperor Komei's joy, can't you?
Apparently, Yoshinobu was determined to die.
What Yoshinobu gained in this battle was not only the trust of Emperor Komei.
Even from Katamori Matsudaira, who was suspicious that it was close to Kyoshu, Yoshinobu gained trust.
In this way, the two sides strengthened their bond, and the first floor increased their influence.
It was good for the three of them in the first floor.
Yoshinobu has said ten times that he was determined to die, but one of them was the suppression of Kyoshu soldiers around Kinmon.
For Yoshinobu, for Emperor Komei, it must have been a big turning point in his life.
So when were the last two times Yoshinobu was determined to die?
The first time was when the new government army invaded Edo.
Yoshinobu, who had escaped from Osaka Castle, was living a hard life in Ueno Kaneiji.
I'm sure he didn't feel alive.
The last time was the same as Kinmon, when Emperor Komei was involved.
It was the beginning of Emperor Komei's destruction, and it was the solution to the long-standing problem of the Treaty of Chokyo.
The solution to the Treaty of Chokyo? What's that?
In 1865, the emperors of the four countries of America, Russia, England, and France, who had already signed the so-called treaty,
led an alliance of eight ships to come to Osaka Bay, and the Treaty of Chokyo was approached.
Of course, Emperor Komei wouldn't approve of it.
The meeting at Osaka Castle, where the general's household was also involved, was in full swing.
The issue of the evacuation of the old beast also developed, and the household, which felt responsible, submitted to the general, and once submitted to the emperor.
Troublesomely, the foreign ministers came not only to the Treaty of Chokyo, but also to the opening of Yokohama Port.
At that time, even if I had a little over 20, I wouldn't be forced to do it.
If I was forced to make that decision at the age of 20, I would run away.
As a Yoshinobu, I want to avoid being forced to serve as a general in this situation.
Oh, I understand Yoshinobu's feelings.
Yoshinobu looks at the household and buys a persuasive drug from the emperor.
Yoshinobu is often on the emperor's side, but sometimes he shows his face as a member of the Tokugawa family.
At this time, it was exactly the moment when such a side of Yoshinobu appeared.
I'll do my best when I have to.
Yoshinobu. Tokugawa Yoshinobu who went to the game.
Although the will of Emperor Komei was firm, Kuryo's opinion was broken.
Yoshinobu, who communicated with the emperor, knew that.
When the decision was not made and the treaty was about to be dissolved, Yoshinobu went to the game.
If the emperor does not approve of the treaty, I will take responsibility and persuade him.
On top of that, on the other hand, I forced him to withdraw the treaty until he threatened to rampage.
Opposing the so-called treaty was one of the identities of Emperor Komei.
He must have believed that it was his duty to protect this country, and he must have gone through that attitude.
However, Yoshinobu, whom he relied on, said so far, and Emperor Komei must have had a hard time.
Finally, Emperor Komei was able to approve of the so-called treaty, and he issued such a decree.
The treaty was signed, and the treaty was signed, and the treaty was signed.
At Kinmon, Yoshinobu broke and did his best to pursue the Choshu policy that Emperor Komei wished for.
Yoshinobu, before that, had a patriotic spirit, but he also supported Emperor Komei.
But now Emperor Komei has become a broken form of Yoshinobu's enthusiasm.
Everyone has a heart that they want to protect.
However, sometimes there are people who think that it is okay to give up even that heart.
Emperor Komei and Tokugawa Yoshinobu, who worked in Bakumatsu, had such a relationship.
Yoshinobu and Emperor Komei were connected in a deep place.
Emperor Komei, the last and most mysterious existence
On January 10, 1867, on December 5, Keio, Emperor Komei made a general declaration on Nijo Castle.
Finally, Tokugawa Yoshinobu became the 15th general.
After all this, Yoshinobu finally became a general.
It was Emperor Komei who decided to Yoshinobu, who had refused to be a general until now.
On November 27, Keio, Emperor Komei gave Yoshinobu the position of General Secretary.
Yoshinobu can't do it without Emperor Komei's permission.
In addition, the notice of the opening of Hyogo, which was promised to the first foreign country, was approaching about a year later, on December 7, Keio 3.
The issue of foreign policy was also decided by Yoshinobu to become a general.
Meanwhile, on December 25 of that year, Emperor Komei suddenly died.
Eh? It's not just ten days after Yoshinobu was declared general, it's sudden, right?
The dead were diagnosed as natural diseases, but the theory of poison death is also strong.
The theory of poison death that I mentioned at the beginning, it's finally coming out.
Because of the death of Emperor Komei, Meiji, who was his daughter, decided to go to war at the age of 14.
War?
War is something that is carried out by the emperor or his superiors by inheriting the rank of an angel.
The Tohbaku faction, including Satsuma, succeeded in the palace coup d'etat, and it was decided to go to Tohbaku.
At one point, the symptoms of Emperor Komei, who was heading to the seaside, suddenly changed, and rumors began to spread that the Tohbaku faction had buried Emperor Komei.
How did Emperor Komei's condition change?
According to Emperor Komei, Emperor Komei had a high fever from December 15, Keio 2.
The next day, because something came out, he was diagnosed as having a high fever on the 17th.
On the night of the 18th, the color of a few towers turned purple, so he applied an ointment and took an anti-poison medicine.
On the 19th, Hasshin swelled up like a water cannon.
He couldn't sleep at night, but then he followed a smooth process.
On the 23rd, the sea from Hasshin stopped coming out, and the doctors assured him that he would be able to catch a fish tomorrow.
The release of the fish also appeared at dinner.
At first, he was only able to eat as much as he wanted, but on the 23rd, when Hasshin was heading to the seaside, he recovered almost to the point where he could eat a normal meal.
This is what is written in the 23rd meal record.
It's been very quiet and calm since this morning.
You can tell how relieved the old men are.
Unnatural death, whispered suicide theory.
However, the situation suddenly changed from the evening of the 24th.
He began to suffer from diarrhea and vomiting, and his pulse also changed to a faint one.
And the death became cold, and on the 25th, Emperor Komei suddenly died.
Isn't it kind of suspicious that a calm symptom on the 23rd suddenly changes from the 24th?
Tadayasu Nakayama of Dynagon, Yoshiko, his daughter, was in Emperor Komei's palace, so he had information about her condition.
In Tadayasu Nakayama's diary, it is written as follows about the end of Emperor Komei.
After the 25th, he vomited blood.
Vomiting blood means that both eyes, both ears, mouth, nostrils, urethra, and anus are bleeding from all the holes.
You can see that it was a terrible end.
Just because he was recovering, his condition suddenly changed to death, and the surroundings were in a state of emergency.
Because of this unnaturalness, the suicide theory was whispered this year.
On January 5, KO3, British Foreign Minister Ernest Sato, who turned his back on Hyogo from Yokohama,
received news that Emperor Komei had been released from the Japanese trade merchants at the Princess Royal's deck.
Sato remodeled the situation at that time as follows.
The emperor died of a natural disease, but a few years later,
when a Japanese who was involved in the disappearance of the ship said to me that he had been poisoned.
Since then, it has been known that Emperor Komei was rumored to have been assassinated.
In the diary of Tadayasu Nakayama, which I introduced earlier,
there is also a letter from the inn, and it is said that Emperor Komei was poisoned there.
It seems that the death of Emperor Komei was hidden for four days and was announced on the 29th, which led to the black rumor.
The main culprit is Tomomi Iwakura?
If he was assassinated, who did it?
It is Tomomi Iwakura of Kuge who is known as the main culprit by the researchers of Kosei.
Oh, the person who killed 500 yen in Showa.
For Iwakura, who strongly wished for the realization of the restoration of the royal family,
Emperor Komei, who was a new bomb, should have been a big obstacle, and there should have been enough motivation to poison him.
Speaking of Tomomi Iwakura, I was surprised to hear that Emperor Komei had been released.
I was shocked, lamented that I didn't know where I was, and regretted that I had reached the peak of freedom.
Iwakura said that he had built a mountain, built a little mountain, and that he had a lot of people.
Iwakura was building a mountain, but it is said that everything was turned to the United States by Emperor Komei.
It means that it is written in the picture.
What kind of plan was he making?
Iwakura vowed to take full responsibility for the chaos in the country in the second year of the Keio Reign.
Iwakura must have been looking forward to the leadership of Emperor Komei.
That's why he must have been so desperate that he suddenly died.
Iwakura even said in this letter that he would be isolated and buried in the mountains.
Well, then it's hard to say that Tomomi Iwakura is suspicious.
If Iwakura was the one who wanted to assassinate Emperor Komei, these letters would be a camouflage.
It's not impossible if you think about Iwakura's patience.
But at the same time, would Iwakura rely on the coincidence of Emperor Komei's illness to commit a serious assassination?
Also, if Emperor Komei was killed as planned, Iwakura should have led the reform of the royal court after that.
However, in fact, the royal court was under siege, and Satsuma-han was not yet in a position to step on Tobaku.
So, after the death of Emperor Komei, who made the reform as planned?
It was none other than Tokugawa Yoshinobu.
By the protection of Emperor Komei, Tokugawa Yoshinobu lost his greatest backing, didn't he?
That's also the truth of the rumor that the Tobaku faction assassinated Emperor Komei.
Certainly, Emperor Komei was the greatest protector for Yoshinobu.
However, the existence of a protector who lends himself great power can sometimes be a great hindrance.
As proof of this, Yoshinobu boldly launched the reform because of the death of Emperor Komei, and began to act with full will.
Yoshinobu's actions were also suspicious.
Yoshinobu, who was in charge of the protection of the emperor, united the British, Dutch, French, and American scholars from four countries in Osaka and convened them in order.
Yoshinobu, who had been pulling out so far, was in charge of the protection of the emperor.
Yoshinobu, you've gotten pretty strong.
In addition to Shimazu Hisamitsu, Yamauchi Toyoshige, Date Munenari, and Matsudaira Yoshinagara, Yoshinobu's dictatorship was unforgivable.
The Four-Line Conference was held, but Emperor Komei, who was a strong rightist, was no longer there.
The conference ended with Yoshinobu's defeat, and the four of them were left to their own devices.
At the next conference, Yoshinobu insisted for 30 hours that he would like to take down Kumei today, and forcibly withdrew.
With this, the protection was decided to be lifted.
It was exactly as Yoshinobu had planned.
As for the young Meiji Emperor, he didn't even attend the conference.
The fact that Yoshinobu stepped forward as the leader of a country has had a major impact on the world.
The British Parks, who met with Yoshinobu, reported to the Foreign Ministry of their own country.
I want to support him as much as possible, no matter what position the shogun decides to take.
If Emperor Komei was assassinated by the Tobaku faction, there is a big miscalculation at this point.
Iwakura is saying this about the awakened Yoshinobu, expressing his vigilance.
Looking at the current Shogun Yoshinobu, you have to be able to make a decision at any point.
However, we do not know the history.
Yoshinobu's voluntary declaration, which was even voted to be the rebirth of Ieyasu, awakened the Ookubo Toshimichi and Saigou Takamori of the Satsuma faction, and made Iwakura tremble.
Yoshinobu's actions have had a huge impact on Japanese history.
The mysterious death of Emperor Komei made the unreadable Bakumatsu more and more chaotic.
KOKORONOKUMONOHARERURU OZOMATSU
Emperor Komei's reign lasted 21 years, but in the meantime, seven reforms have been carried out.
It has changed a lot in a short period of time.
