We opted to take a side quest during our epic road trip around Vancouver Island and stumbled across this amazing hidden waterfall with caves, clear blue water, and unrivaled beauty. It became clear that there are hidden waterfalls on Vancouver Island and then there is the ULTIMATE hidden waterfall, Grotto Falls.
I make outdoor adventure travel videos to inspire you to take your next trip and get outdoors. Life is short and there are so many interesting people, places and things to learn about and experience. Join me on my journey, SUBSCRIBE AND become a part of Team Infamous.

Welcome back to Vancouver Island, once again in the middle of nowhere
in an undisclosed location in some dense forest on Vancouver Island.
I'm joined by this juicy German once again.
Juicy German!
Real tipsy like.
He's feeling real tipsy like.
I'm not sure what that means, but he might be having a stroke.
Anyway, we are on the quest for some more epic hidden gems of Vancouver Island.
Got a hot tip on something over here maybe, I don't know.
So we're just doing what I like to do called the bull in the china shop method
where you just bum rush the show and you go see what you can see to get all up in those cracks.
Well, I'm excited to see some ripe salal berries.
We have seen a lot of unripe salal berries, but good to know in case we get stuck out
in the middle of nowhere for some reason, got a little bit of a trail snack food source.
Not 100% ripe, so it's not super sweet, but getting there.
This is what they look like.
This is what the salal berries look like when they're not quite ripe yet.
And the bigger and darker and more purple they get, the more they're ripe and sweet.
This is some more unripe salal berries.
So here's the leaves, the berries.
They were an essential ingredient in the pemmican of the Native Americans and the First Nations.
Pemmican, of course, like a beef jerky, the OG beef jerky, where they would take elk meat or
whatever kind of animal they had killed.
They would dry it, grind it up and kind of form a patty with it with the salal berries
and other ingredients and then dry that.
And it would be, they would take that on them.
They would take that with them on hunts and long hikes and stuff like that.
So salal berries, good to know.
Plenty of bushes around here, although not overly ripe, but we have a few.
So if it comes down to it, me and Alex will be duking it out for those salal berries.
Right here, right here.
Are those sweet?
They're good.
Yeah?
Are they as sweet as the ones we had on the coast the other day?
No.
Yeah.
No.
We found some on the coast the other day in West Coast that were just big, plumpy-like.
Plumpy-like, just like real tips and like.
Oh, there's something here.
Whoa, yeah, look at this.
Holy cow.
Oh my god, epic.
Look at this ----.
Man.
Amazing, hidden spot.
This looks like there might be undercuts in here though.
Wow, I can't wait to see what else, what else we got here.
I mean.
Overflowing, but no problem.
But it's overflowing.
Oh, the undercut there, you know, there's no problem.
I want to, I want to go in that mellow side cut over there and see what's up.
But this is amazing.
Bro.
Are you a caver now?
I'm a cave scuba climbing surfer packer and stuff.
Are you a scuba climbing caver, sir?
All of it.
Where's your helmet then?
My helmet is in the backpack, which is around the corner.
Wow, look at this.
Awesome.
Yes.
Wow.
Oh yeah, I see it from here.
I can see the falls from the other entrance.
There's another entrance around the corner.
This is amazing.
There was some debate, not really debate, but I was like,
I don't really feel like bringing my wetsuit.
I don't want to bush bash in my wetsuit.
He brought his.
Operation steel nipples right now.
Just in case I need to climb out of here with my nipples,
do some aid, nipple aid climbing up this rock face here.
It's always good to have razor sharp nipples.
Dig right into that rock.
That's it, my man.
Yeah, watch your head climbing out.
That's hard.
Yeah, I know.
I can't believe we found another cave here out in the middle of nowhere.
This place is amazing.
Who needs a wetsuit?
Vancouver Island to me, very similar to New Zealand in a lot of ways.
Just so many undiscovered gems and you see stuff like this.
And it gives you hope that there's still magical untouched places in the world.
They've done some blogging here.
There's some secondary growth, but it's coming back.
And it still gives you a little ray of sunshine.
Even though humans are screwing up a lot of stuff,
there's still places like this that are pristine, untouched.
And if we work hard together to protect these places,
we'll have a lot more of them and we can preserve them for future generations.
So I've heard this cave is real cave-y like.
It's more paper like.
I'm going to check it out for myself though.
It's more foamy like too.
Real foamy like, yeah.
Infamous.
