What's going on? This is 303 and we're here to give you our top tour tips.
Shout out to Digital Tour Bus for having us out. We've been on tour a lot and one
of the things that you're gonna want to do is get early and often access to
showers because it can be pretty stinky. You're on a tour, you're basically in a
100 square foot apartment with 12 people. Some tour buses, if you are a cooler band
than us, have showers. A rich band have showers in the tour bus. We have
had the luxury of having solar showers when we're on outdoor festival tours in
which we sort of leave this bag of water that we fill up at the beginning
of the day outside so it heats up properly from the Sun. Otherwise you're
gonna be getting that cold shower and you're basically stripped down to your
undies and just let it rip. Also if you're in a venue and you're there with a
lot of opening acts you're gonna want to hit that shower pretty early in the day
because they tend to get a little warm. And you're gonna want to bring some crocs.
Shout out Boulder, Colorado. Coming in at number two or number four if we're
counting down whatever is pooping. We all do it. Everyone poops. We've all read the
book. Well this guy doesn't. I just burp out little pellets. This is a big factor on
touring. I think it's probably one of the most like undervalued thing that people
don't think about until they're on tour. Whether you're on a tour bus or a van
you basically have to understand that you're gonna be using public facilities.
A little unknown thing is on tour buses you're not supposed to go number two.
You can physically it's possible but it's you get fined for it because it
gets clogged in the system. The bus driver has to clean it off. So there's no
solids in the toilet and if you really got to go you stop the tour. You ask the
tour bus driver very kindly if you can pull over a gas station, flying J, maybe
pilot truck stop, who knows. If your girlfriend ends up coming on tour like
one of the guys that we toured with and having a little accident then you just
get in there and catfish it out of there. Sparing those details another option is you can grab a trash bag. We never did this
because this sounds horribly disgusting. You throw the trash bag in the
toilet and as you're driving or you can be like Dave Matthews van bus driver and
just dump it off the Chicago Bridge onto a boat. Number three is you know culinary
and just because you're limited and you don't have a full kitchen it doesn't mean you can't
kind of cook for yourself. So we usually bring a griddle along with us and in the
morning we like to make eggs in a basket. You take a little slice of bread, hollow
out the middle, put it on the griddle, spray a little little coconut spray on
there, avocado oil, crack an egg, put it right in there. I think you made up a
name for that. I think it's called toad in the hole. No, it's egg in a basket. Yeah we're a huge Guy Fieri guys. Any
chance we get to really get above that hot griddle and really show what
we're made of. Basically we're just touring Flavortown around the world. It's
important to have something fun to do. That's what brings us to our next number
two or number four I don't know where we are at this point but we got two more
left is to have a hobby because there's a lot of downtime. We've toured with a
lot of bands that play a lot of video games. We're not super into gaming. We're
into this thing called reality and I don't know it might be a game actually.
We don't know what's going on but we've been known to bring a hacky sack.
We are from Boulder so we'll get that that hack going before we go on stage.
We also like just good old-fashioned tourism. Go see a museum, go see a park. I used to go see libraries.
Have you ever done like a Segway tour? Not while we've been on tour but I have
done them. Pretty awesome. I'd like to imagine you. Last but not least one thing you're
gonna need to try to do, try being the opposite of me, is sleep. Sleeping
arrangements. The way that you can prepare if you want to get good at this
before you go on tour is throw your mattress on top of your washer and dryer
and just put it on full blast and also have someone basically scream or
make noises outside of your room. Snoring. You can put a little bit of
engine fumes in there as well. When you're 6'8", like me, it's hard to fit
anywhere and it doesn't, does it get easier? No, I think you just get better
with lack of sleep but you know these are the perks of being able to tour and
be a rock star which we're not but we're trying our best. So those are five very
very hopefully helpful tips and like I said in these times if you can't get out
there on the road you can practice at home. Throw that trash bag into your
toilet. Get the grill out and throw your camping mattress on top of your
washer and dryer and crank it up. It's been 303 Digital Tour Bus. Those are our
tour recommendations. Peace!
