Indonesia invites island and archipelagic countries to collaborate on various global issues that are challenging.
They are invited to engage intensively with other related forums in the region,
in order to strengthen the management and increase its benefits.
In the fifth meeting of the Ministerial Council of Island and Archipelagic Countries,
Archipelagic and Island States, or AIS Forum, in Nusa Dua, Bali on October 10,
Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi mentioned that there were various crises that threatened,
such as climate change, rising sea levels, pollution in the sea, and the loss of biodiversity diversity.
For that, it is necessary to ensure the existence of solidarity between archipelagic and archipelagic countries
through a number of innovative efforts, with four main focuses,
namely mitigation and adaptation of climate change, blue economy and eco-tourism,
plastic waste in the sea and the coast, as well as marine management.
Therefore, Indonesia and all of us choose the right way,
choose the right path of cooperation and solidarity inclusively.
This is an urgent time for us as an archipelagic and island state to stand in solidarity and work together.
Indonesia became the host of the AIS Forum, which was held on October 11 in Nusa Dua, Bali,
with three main themes, namely blue economy, the future of marine life, and solidarity.
It was attended by as many as 29 countries from a total of 51 countries participating in the AIS Forum
and four international organizations.
