What is behaviorism?
What is the so-called black box?
What is meant by a stimulus-reaction model?
And how does behaviorism differ from cognitivism?
This and much more you will learn in today's video.
Hi and welcome to a new video.
This video is about behaviorism.
Every week at least one video appears on the Erzieherkanal about topics of the educational profession.

And now, have fun with the video.
What is behaviorism?
The term behaviorism comes from the English word behavior,
which means so much as behavior.
As behaviorism, the concept from noise psychology is called,
which tries to examine and explain the behavior of people or even animals.
The special thing about behaviorism is that the processes that take place in the human brain are ignored.
The so-called black box is also used here.
But more on that later.
In behaviorism, only the stimulus that hits the person counts,
and the reaction or behavior that the person then shows.
The inner processes of the person are irrelevant in behaviorism.
A well-known concept from behaviorism is conditioning.
Here, the difference between the operant conditioning to Skinner
and the classic conditioning to Pavlov is explained.
Based on these two concepts, it can be explained, among other things,
how human behavior can be influenced.
I link two detailed videos on operants and classic conditioning in the video description.
Take a look at them after this video.
What is meant by the so-called black box?
As mentioned earlier, behaviorism wants to examine human behavior,
but ignores the inner processes of humans.
Here, the model of the black box is also described.
In this context, the black box describes the processing process of humans
of inner and outer stimuli.
This black box includes human psychological and cognitive processes
and is not scientifically measurable.
Therefore, the details of behaviorism are not really interesting,
because they are totally different from person to person and cannot be generalized.
In the end, behaviorists are only interested in which stimulus hits a person,
which reaction and behavior it shows,
and how this process can be influenced and manipulated.
To explain human behavior, stimulus-reaction models are used here.
A stimulus hits the black box, i.e. the processing process of humans.
It picks up the stimulus through its senses, feel, taste, see, hear,
and then leads to a certain reaction or a certain behavior of the person.
This is how human behavior can be explained.
To understand the whole thing a little better, two examples.
A child walks through the city with his mother.
Then a cute dog comes.
This one comes tail wagging towards the child.
The behavior of the dog represents the stimulus.
This stimulus is picked up by the child, processed in the black box,
but we have no idea what exactly happens there.
Now the child suddenly shows a terrible fear and wants to hug the mother.
This is described as the reaction or behavior.
A child gets a chocolate bar from his grandpa.
The child takes it.
Now the child looks at his mother.
She says nothing.
Only the look is enough for the child to suddenly thank his grandpa politely for the chocolate.
The look of the mother is the stimulus here.
This one comes to the child,
dissolves something in the processing process of the black box in the child
and through a conditioning the child suddenly thanks his grandpa.
The behaviorists are not interested in which thoughts, feelings, wishes and inner processes were present in the child,
but only the stimulus through the look of the mother and the reaction of the child.
What distinguishes behaviorism from cognitivism?
With cognitivism, the focus is precisely on the processes that do not interest behaviorism,
namely the cognitive and psychological processes of humans.
These psychological and cognitive processes are very diverse and individual.
Nevertheless, the fighters of cognitivism find it important to look at exactly these processes
to examine and analyze human behavior.
There is an extra video on the subject of cognitivism.
I'll link it to you in the end card.
